“The resemblance in your facial expression is just like your father's when I told him that my Luna was carrying a child that was not mine. I mean, he looked surprised then. It was when I said I would pull you out of your mother's womb and feed you to the common wolves that he looked that way.' He turns to get a better look at me.

"I liked it better when I saw that purple glow disappear from his eyes and he took his last breath."

"You, you, son of a bitch," I shout loudly and change back into Zoë. I run to him and attack him in the neck. We snap and scratch at each other. My white fur is full of blood and dirt. Jan is no challenge to me as I tear his throat out of his body with my sharp teeth. He turns into a man and grabs his throat before he falls forward on the floor. I look from Jan's body to Damon's. And put me in wolf form by his head. I lick his cheeks and whine, for my Mate.

Nelly and her Mate join me in wolf form and howl with me. Tears come from my wolf's eyes. Zoë is as sad as I am.

I become light-headed and fall down on the belly of my beloved.

I know immediately where I am. The moon goddess looks at me with concern.

“Why are you taking the two people I love away from me? Why are you doing this to me,' I yell furiously at the goddess.

"Honey, this was not my intention. I didn't think any of my kids were capable of such horror.'

'Where have you been the last few years? Having a tea party with the other gods? Take your white wolf back. I've had nothing but misery with that stupid beast.' Zoë cries in my head, but agrees with me. I turn around and don't look at the moon goddess anymore.

“I can help you, but you must make a great sacrifice. I can bring Zoe back to normal and take away your aura-reading powers. You remain a Lycan. I cannot and will not take that away from you. Lana...'

I turn my head and look at Selene.

"Do I have them both back?"

"You can only save one person."

Behind her I see a dark figure approaching. My wolf and I recognize him immediately. Damon approaches the Moon Goddess with a little cub wrapped in a blanket.

"No, don't let me choose between them." I walk over to Damon and look at the beautiful little creature in his arms.

'Choose, her. Lana? Please, choose her,' Damon pleads. I look at the moon goddess who, with her eyes closed, radiates a white aura. She is conflicted with herself. Then I look at Damon and our baby. My heart breaks. I don't want to make that choice, I want them both close to me.

"Lana, have you made a choice?" I give my perfect baby a kiss on the forehead and then I give Damon one on the cheek.

"Yes Selene, I've made my choice." I walk over to her and whisper a name in her ear.

“Okay, from now on I'm taking away your power as a white wolf and also your aura-reading powers. Lana, you made a good choice.'

My eyes open. Nelly is crying by my body and all I look at is Damon laying next to me. I crawl over to him and lay myself against his lukewarm body. I cry and whisper, "I'm sorry, my love."
