The move

After my farewell party and the necessary crying with my friends, we are on our way to the territory of the black wolves. My mother has been acting very differently lately. She called some of those pack members. And she grew more nervous as the day of the move approached. I also got a little more nervous, but that was because I left everyone behind and have to start a new chapter as the newcomer in the village.

My mom was in good spirits and started talking more about what it’s like to be a werewolf. That’s how I learned a few things about werewolf packs. They can live among humans without any problems. But they prefer to live in remote villages. Black Valley is a suitable name for the village we will live in according to my mother. I look out the window. Meanwhile, the landscape has changed so much that we are sure that city life has been left behind. I frown my face and think, ’Goodbye old life. From now on I no longer live among humans. As of today, I’m going back to a Pack that hopefully has a better Alpha than my dad.

And back the landscape changes after an hour’s drive. Just now there were many fields and small villages. Now more trees are appearing. Which is monotonous. I rest my head on the headrest.

I dozed off on the long drive and was shaken awake by my mother. “Honey, we’re almost there,” my mother exclaims, far too enthusiastically. I stretch and rub my eyes before opening them. I look at the GPS clock and see that we have already been on the road for 7 hours. I look in front of me and all I can see are the many tall trees. You also smell that scent of the trees, especially the pines.

If there is a gap between the trees, I see a village in the deep valley. The village looks old but cozy at first sight. Most houses are built of thick natural stones. A river runs just next to the village centre and a small church is overshadowed by an oversized villa just next to it. The only new house in the village, it looks like.

They fly into each other’s arms and talk to each other way too cheerfully. I hesitate to get out and look up at the actual building.

So, this is the pack house, the centre of the wolf pack. The home of the Alpha and his Luna. I think of our old pack house in the silverback pack. It was also big, but not as big as this villa. The facade is bright white, and the surrounding garden is decorated with many colourful flowers. The many small windows give it a rustic style. I sigh and slam the passenger door of the car before walking over to them. When I get to the ladies, my mother puts her arm over my shoulder.

“And this, this is my daughter, Lana.”

’Hello Lana, I’m Luna Vera. Welcome to our village. I hope you enjoy yourself here.’ The woman smiles at me and has a strong light pink aura around her. Which certainly affects my mother to see her attitude.

And his smile would melt any woman away. He gives my mother a big hug and then looks at me with a smile.

“This must be Lana?”

‘Yes,’ my mother replies proudly.

Alpha, Eric. Yes, I know, ′ I answer with rolling eyes. My mother frowns and nudges me in the ribs. I try not to show that that poke hurt immensely and look angrily at my mother.

He leans closer to me and whispers, “Expect a lot of that. Those two have time to catch up and they used to be two clucking chickens. ′ I sigh the annoyance. Alpha Erik opens a double white door and I stare open-mouthed at the space hidden behind it. It’s like a little apartment. My mother is immediately silent when she walks into the room with curious eyes.

Luna Vera, looking from my mother to me, says: ‘Here we have made a small sitting room for you. I thought you’d like some privacy while you’re here. Honey, will you show Lana her room?’

‘Okay sweetheart.’ The Alpha signals for me to go with him and I walk into a large room that looks bright with the salmon-pink wallpaper. “Excuse me,” he grits his teeth before leaving my room through another door. I follow him curiously, lurking at the corner of my doorway. The Alpha bangs loudly on the door next to mine, and if the person on the other side of the door doesn’t respond quickly enough, the Alpha bangs even more ferociously.

“Damon, turn off that music at once. Damon?” he shouts loudly. The door flies open revealing the head of a younger version of the Alpha. ‘What?’ snaps the boy who is now completely in my sight.

I have to think about the similarity in the aura of the men. They are both green. The son’s is more natural and also feels stronger. You see a shoulder and a hand of my father. The rest is hidden in the frame. I never want to see that bastard’s head again. My mother saved it for me, but around my fourteenth birthday I banned his presence in the picture. Just as he did to me on my sixth birthday. At first, I was going to cut it off, but I changed my mind at the last minute. He stays there as a memory. One that lets me know that I have it much better now.
