I spent the next couple of hours pacing back and forth in this huge bedroom, thinking of a way to escape. Shortly after the sun sunk below the horizon, the door burst open and stepped in Sigmund with Lupita in tow.

“King Bellamy invited you to have a dinner with him,” Sigmund told me.

At the mention of dinner, my stomach started rumbling again.

“Lupita will help you get ready. I’ll be back to pick you up in one hour,” he continued.

Before I had a time to argue, he already spun around and left the room.

“Oh God, he’s so annoying!” I grumbled.

“Rosanne, you have to get ready now before Lord Sigmund comes back!” Lupita reminded me.

“Okay,” I said.

I reluctantly entered the bathroom and had a quick shower. Wrapping a towel around my body, I got out of the bathroom.

Lupita had already laid a dress for me on the bed. It was a long red evening dress edged with laces.

I picked it up and frowned. “Lupita, do I have to wear this dress to the dinner?”

“Yes Rosanne, it’s Lord Sigmund who chose this dress himself,” she explained.

“But I am not used to wear glamorous dress like this. Do you have something more casual?”

“I’m afraid we don’t have it here, Rosanne.”

“Really? So you don’t have plain dresses around here?”

She shook her head.

“What about mini dress? I want to wear something that doesn’t sweep the floor.”

“I’m sorry we don’t have it either.”

“Okay. It’s not a big deal. Do you have scissors, Lupita?” I asked.

“W—why do you ask for a pair of scissors?” she asked me back nervously.

I chuckled at her sudden nervousness. “Relax, Lupita! I’m not going to use it to attack you or anything. I just need the scissors for the dress.”

“The dress?” She furrowed her eyebrows.

“Bring me a pair of scissors and you’ll understand what I mean!” I smirked.

“Alright. Wait a minute!” She knocked on the door three times and it flew open, revealing two guards standing in front of this bedroom. As soon as Lupita left the room, the guards shut the door again.

While waiting for Lupita, I put on the panties and bra that I found under the evening dress and then wrapped the towel around my body again.

A few minutes later, Lupita returned with a pair of scissors and she handed it to me quickly. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“What are you going to do with the scissors?” Lupita inquired curiously.

I grinned. “Just watch and see!”

I picked up the evening dress from the bed. “Could you please hold this dress for me, Lupita?”

She looked confused but obeyed.

I knelt in front of the long dress that Lupita was holding and began to snip at it up to knee-high.

“Rosanne, what are you doing?” Lupita screamed in panic tone. “You just destroyed the dress.”

Standing up, I tried to soothe her, “Calm down Lupita! I didn’t destroy the dress; I just modified it a little.”

“You’ll be in trouble when Lord Sigmund sees what you’ve done to the dress,” Lupita said worriedly.

“Don’t worry, Lupita! It’s my problem not yours. I assure you Sigmund won’t put the blame on you,” I assured her.

She sighed in defeat. “Alright. Let me help you with your make-up now. We’re almost late.”

“Okay.” I nodded.

Lupita led me to the dressing table and had me sit on the stool facing the mirror. Afterwards, she applied natural make-up to my face and curled the tip of my hair.

“Here are your shoes!” Lupita put a pair of high heels in front of my feet.

“Lupita, I don’t want to wear high heels. Do you have flat shoes?” I asked.

“It’s a formal occasion, Rosanne. You have to wear high heels,” she insisted.

“But I am not used to wear high heels. Please let me wear flat shoes!” I pleaded.

She huffed frustratedly. “Fine. I’ll get them for you. Wait a minute!”

She walked into the walk-in closet and a few seconds later came back with a pair of flat shoes.

I gave a satisfied smile. Once Lupita put the flat shoes in front of me, I raised to my feet and put it on soon.

“Let’s go!” Lupita said as she started walking toward the door. I followed closely behind her.

She knocked on the door three times like the last time, and the guards outside opened the door soon.

Unexpectedly, we saw Sigmund standing in front of my bedroom. He crossed his arms over her chest and tapped his feet on the floor impatiently.

“Why did you take so long? We’re already late. You know, the king doesn’t like to be kept waiting,” he reprimanded me.

“Girls need time to get ready. Don’t you know that?” I talked back.

I tried to push past him, but he caught my arm, holding me back.

“Wait! What have you done to your dress?” he asked angrily.

“You said we’re already late, aren’t you? So come on we have to hurry,” I said, changing the topic.

Before he had time to argue, I shook him off and began walking away.

Sigmund kept up with me easily.

“You’re in big trouble, Princess. The king won’t approve your appearance,” he warned me.

“As if I care,” I muttered.

Sigmund glared at me but said nothing. He then walked past me and led the way to the dining room.
