The guards brought me to a bedroom and threw me on to the bed. Without saying another word, they left the room.

I leapt out of the bed and sprint for the door. But before I reached there, they already slammed the door shut.

I tried the door, but of course it was locked. At last, I began to pound on the door violently.

“OPEN THE DOOR! LET ME OUT! PLEASE! LET ME OUT OF HERE!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, but my pleas only fell on deaf ears. Knowing it was useless, I finally gave up.

My eyes darted around the room. All of the walls in this bedroom were covered in red wallpapers. The wooden floor was carpeted in red too. A LED light hung from the white ceiling. And a set of red curtains covered the window.

There were two doors inside this room. I guessed one of them led to the bathroom and the other was closet. In the middle of the room was a four-poster bed with black bedcover and blanket along with red pillows. A bedside table was positioned at the left and right side of the bed. On the top of each table was set a lamp.

I walked to the window and pulled the curtains back. Apparently, the window was boarded shut. I peeped through the hole in the board and all I could see were trees surrounded this place.

“Oh God no! It seems that I am in the middle of nowhere. Now my chance of escape is slim, even maybe impossible,” I said in panic tone.

I shook my head. “No. Don’t think like that! I am sure I can find a way to escape from here. The most important thing is I have to get out of this room first and then I can run through the woods until I can find a civilization.”

I tried to pull the board covering the window up by slipping my fingers around it, but it was pointless. However, I don’t want to give up and kept trying to break the boarded up window.

“It’s useless. You can never open the window.” A voice suddenly startled me.

I spun around and found the kidnappers’ leader, Lord Sigmund standing by the door.

“Ho—how did you get into the room?” I stammered.

“Through that door.” He pointed to the door behind him.

I frowned. “But I didn’t hear you coming.”

He shrugged. “You’re too busy trying to escape. How could you hear me coming?”

I rolled my eyes.

Sigmund slowly began to walk toward me.

“Get away from me!” I yelled while walking backwards.

“Don’t be afraid! I’m not going to hurt you,” he told me soothingly. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“You already have.” I indicated to my left wrist.

“I know.” He sighed. “I’m sorry. I promise I will never hurt you again.”

“Do you think I’m going to trust you?” I asked sarcastically.

He shook his head. “You don’t have to.”

He carried on walking toward me. I backed away until my back slammed against the wall. His lips curved into a smirk when seeing that I was cornered now.

“Sit down!” He motioned to the bed.

“No!” I refused firmly.

“Don’t try my patience, Princess! Now sit down!” He snapped at me.

Reluctantly, I sat on the edge of the bed. And Sigmund sat across from me.

“Hold out your left hand!” He ordered.

I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously. “Why? Do you want to cut me again?”

“I told you I will never hurt you again. I just want to clean your wound. Look!” He pulled an alcohol swab, antiseptic cream, and bandage out of his pocket.

“Give it to me! I can do it myself,” I said.

“No, I’ll do it,” he insisted, “Now hold out your hand!”

I was tired of arguing with him so I held my left hand out.

“It might sting a little,” he warned me.

I nodded.

As he dabbed the wet swab against the cut on my left wrist, I felt it stung. I winced and bit my lower lip, trying not to scream.

“Why did you do that?” I asked him, trying to distract myself from the pain.

He gave me a puzzled look. “Do what?”

“You know, cut my wrist and the tasted my blood,” I answered.

“Trust me you don’t want to know the answer, Princess!” He said.

“Try me!” I challenged him.

“No.” He shook his head.

I kept watching him as he put some anticeptic cream on my wound and then wrapped a bandage around it.

“Done!” He exclaimed.

“Where is my locket?” I asked all of a sudden.

“Safe with me,” he replied.

“Give it back!” I demanded.

“Sure, I’ll give it back later,” he said calmly.

“No, I want you to give my locket right now,” I insisted.

He gritted his teeth. “Later.”

I let out a sigh. “Promise?”

He nodded briefly. “Yes.”

“I keep your words,” I said.

He stood from the bed. “We’re going to have a long journey tonight. You’d better get some sleep now,” he suggested.

I folded my arms across my chest. “I don’t want to sleep.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Do I have to make you, Princess?”

“But I am not sleepy,” I argued.

“I don’t care. Go to sleep now or I’m going to sedate you,” he threatened.

“Fine.” I lay on the bed and pull the cover up to my neck.

“I have to go now. I’ll check on you in half an hour. If you didn’t sleep by then, I would have to sedate you,” he informed me.

“Whatever,” I grumbled.

He started walking towards the door. He flicked the light off, got out of the room, and finally slammed the door shut after him.

I closed my eyes but sleep wouldn’t come. I kept tossing and turning in bed for a long time but I couldn’t sleep yet.

I threw the blanket off me and slipped out of the bed. I switched on the light and began pacing back and forth around the room.

'I have to find a way to get out of here,' I said to myself.

The door suddenly burst open, and stepped in Sigmund. He looked upset when found out I was still awake.

“So you’re not sleeping yet?” he asked angrily.

“I told you I can’t sleep,” I made an excuse.

“Then don’t blame me if I have to sedate you!” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a syringe.

“Wait!” I yelled, “Don’t do that! I’ll try to get some sleep now.”

He pointed to the bed, signalling for me to lie down.

“Okay.” I reluctantly approached the bed and lay in it.

Sigmund walked towards me and perched himself on the edge of the bed.

I sat upright and asked him in panic tone, “What are you doing here?”

“Don’t worry! I am not going to rape you or anything. I just want to watch you until you fall asleep,” he told me.

“But I can’t sleep if someone is watching me,” I protested.

He folded his arms across his chest. “It’s not my problem.”

Letting out a frustrated sigh, I lay back down and pulled the covers over my head. No sooner had I closed my eyes than I fell asleep.
