As soon we arrived at the palace, King Bellamy got out of the car before the driver had a chance to open the door for him. He opened the back door and pulled me out of the car.

Sigmund opened the door at the other side and hopped out of car after me.

King Ignatius and Prince Maximilian who had just arrived joined us. But I didn’t see Jasper anywhere. I guessed Maximilian had read my mind, so he already knew what I would do if I met Jasper again. That’s why he asked Jasper to stay away from me.

But Jasper couldn’t hide from me forever. Sooner or later, I would find Jasper and I would pay for what he done to me. Because of him, I had to return to the vampire kingdom. And my father was also in danger, thanks to him.

King Bellamy grasped my arm and pulled me along with him into the palace.

Sigmund, King Ignatius, and Prince Maximilian followed closely behind us.

I winced as a sharp pain shot through my arm due to the king’s tight grip. “Ouch! Grandpa, leave go of my arm! You’re hurting me.”

“Shut up!” he said coldly.

“But Grandpa, it hurts,” I whimpered.

“I said shut your mouth up, Mirabelle!” he snapped at me.

Didn’t want to anger him further, I chose to keep silent and looked around my surrounding. I furrowed my eyebrows when I saw that we weren’t heading to my bedroom. And this wasn’t the way to the throne room or the king’s study either.

“Where are you taking me, Grandpa?” I asked apprehensively.

When he ignored me, I tugged at his sleeve to get his attention. “Grandpa, where are we going?”

He finally turned to me and retorted, “You’ll find out soon enough. Now shut up!”

After the king turned his attention back to the hallway ahead of us, I pouted at him in annoyance.

We descended some staircases and came to a halt in front of a heavy metal door with a guard at the either side of the door. The guards opened the door, revealing another staircase leading to a dim large room. Even though it was quite dark, but I could still spot rows of cells inside the room. Suddenly, it dawned on me that this was a dungeon.

“Wha—what are we gonna do in the dungeon, Grandpa?” I asked, my voice shaking.

King Bellamy didn’t reply. He just continued dragging me downs the stairs. We passed several empty cells and stopped before a cell at the corner of the room.

The vampire king motioned to one of the guards to unlock the cell door. After that, he shoved me into the cell so I landed onto the cold floor.

“Since you arrived here, I always treat you like a princess, Mirabelle. But, is this how you repay me? You turned against me and chose to side with the werewolves,” King Bellamy reprimanded me. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (F)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“But that werewolf is my father, Grandpa,” I reasoned, “I just—”

“Shut up!” he hollered, cutting me off.

I cowered in fear. I have never seen King Bellamy this angry before, and to tell you the truth, it’s really scary.

“You will stay here until you realize your mistakes,” he stated as he slammed the cell door shut.

“No, no, Grandpa. You can’t lock me up here!” I protested desperately.

“Of course I can. This will teach you a lesson not to be ungrateful again.” The vampire king turned around and started walking away.

“No, Grandpa! Don’t leave me here! Please! I beg of you,” I screamed, reaching out of the bars.

King Bellamy ignored me and kept storming out of the dungeon.

I stared at Sigmund with pleading eyes. But he turned his head away, and then followed the king out of the dungeon.

Prince Maximilian gave me a sympathetic look. He was about to walk out of the dungeon too, but I held him back.

“Maxim, please you have to get me out of here,” I begged.

“I’m sorry Rosanne. I can’t help you this time,” he said apologetically.

“Please Maxim! I’m afraid. I don’t want to be here,” I tried to persuade him.

“I wish I could help you, Rosanne, but I really can’t. I don’t want to betray king Bellamy,” he said regretfully.

“But you’re my mate, Maxim,” I said, “Please—”

“Mate?” King Ignatius burst out laughing as if I had just said something funny.

“What are you laughing at?” I asked confusedly.

At my question, the king’s laughter died down. Lastly, he replied me with a sneer, “You know, Princess, Maximilian isn’t your mate.”
