Back to Rosanne’s house in Madrid, Spain

I felt my heart thud wildly with fear as my father knocked on the car window.

The driver, who appeared to be a young man, wound down the window, but from my position right now, I couldn’t see his face clearly.

My father exchanged a few words with that man before the car door flew open and the man finally stepped out.

My fear gave way to relief as soon as I recognized who it was. I hurriedly hopped out of the car and approached them.

“Randolph,” I greeted the man who was now standing before my father.

He turned his attention to me and beamed. “Hi Rosanne.”

“What are you doing here?” I demanded.

“I’m going on a business trip in Spain. Because I was passing through your town, so I thought I’d come and say hello,” he elaborated.

“You know, you scared the life out of us coming so suddenly like that,” I complained.

“Yes, you should have called me first if you wanted to come by,” my father added.

Randolph pursed his lips. “Why do I have a feeling that you don’t like seeing me here?”

“It’s not like that, Randolph. You are welcome to come and stay here as long as you give us plenty of notice,” Dad explained.

“If I told you I would pay you a visit, it wouldn’t be a surprise, right?” Randolph reasoned.

“Well, we don’t like surprises. Especially when we’re on the run from the vampires now,” I commented.

“She’s right,” Dad agreed with me, “You know, I thought you’re a vampire because I couldn’t smell your scent.”

“Oh sorry, it must be because I have drunk a potion that can conceal my werewolf scent,” Randolph apologized with a grin.

“Oh I see!” Dad nodded his head in understanding.

“Let’s go inside now, shall we? It’s getting cold out here.” I wrapped my arms around my body because I was chilled by the icy wind.

“Sure,” my dad responded

Randolph also nodded his head in agreement.

The three of us walked towards the house, climbed up the stairs in the porch, and came to a halt before the front door. Dad pulled a set of keys out of his pocket and unlocked the door. He stood aside to let me and Randolph enter. After that, he stepped into the house too and shut the door behind him. Lastly, we went to the living room.

Dropping my backpack on the coffee table, I sat down on the sofa. Randolph seated himself across from me, while my father kept standing.

“Please make yourself at home, Randolph. Sorry, I must be going now. But don’t worry! Rosanne will be here to accompany you,” Dad said.

“Oh, please! You cannot be serious, Ivan. I have just arrived here and you want to leave already?” Randolph protested.

“I’m sorry, but I have promised Pedro that I would go back to the restaurant after seeing Rosanne home,” my father explained.

“Then call Pedro and tell him that you can’t return to the restaurant tonight, Dad!” I suggested. “Randolph is like a brother to you, right? I think you should spend some time with him while he’s here.”

My father heaved a long sigh. “Fine. I’ll call Pedro now.”

Dad pulled a mobile phone out of his pocket before walking away to make a phone call. Meanwhile, I got into conversation with Randolph.

A few minutes later, my father came back and took a seat next to me. He then joined in our conversation.

The three of us sat talking for hours. When we realized that it’s getting very late, we decided to retire to our bedrooms each other. Yes, we had provided a spare bedroom for Randolph, so he didn’t have to sleep on the couch tonight.

After having a shower, I put on a pair of floral pyjamas and then climbed into bed. I just closed my eyes for a few seconds when suddenly a sharp rap on the door woke me up. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I shot up in a sitting position and grumbled, “Oh God, who dares to disturb my sleep?”

“Rosanne, open the door now!” I heard Randolph say from the other side of the door.

“Can’t that werewolf stop being annoying just for tonight?” I muttered under my breath.

I got to my feet and slipped on my shoes before I walked towards the door and opened it for Randolph.

“Randolph, what are you doing here? You know, I’m trying to sleep,” I complained.

“Sorry, Rosanne, but it’s urgent,” he said in all seriousness.

“What’s going on?” I asked with some apprehension.

“The vampires are here. They’re coming for you,” he answered.

I gasped and my hand flew to my mouth. “How come they know that I am here?”

“It doesn’t matter now. The most important thing is we have to get out of here as soon as possible. Come along!” he said.

“Okay.” I nodded.

As soon as I said it, Randolph took off to the back of the house.

I grabbed my denim jacket on my way out before running after Randolph and throwing on my jacket in the process.

My father had been waiting for us by the back door. We finally escaped out the back way and made a dash for the forest. Yes, our house was situated close to the forest because it would make it easy for my father to shift into his wolf form when it was necessary.

Out of the blue, we got waylaid by a group of vampires who were dressed entirely in black. I scanned their faces one by one, but I didn’t see Sigmund among those vampires. I hoped King Bellamy didn’t kill him because he had helped me escape from the Clanbella Kingdom a year ago.

My father pushed me behind his back, covering me from the vampires. Meanwhile, Randolph stood in a defensive stance, getting ready to fight those vampires if they launched an attack.

“Princess Mirabelle, you must come home with us now. Your grandfather misses you terribly,” one of those vampires spoke up.

Before I could attempt a response, my father retorted, “No, I will never let you take my daughter away from me. Not in your life!”

“I didn’t talk to you, Werewolf,” the vampire spat.

The vampire’s remarks made my father’s hackles rise. But before he could lash out at that vampire, I touched my father’s shoulder. When he turned to look at me, I shook my head at him, silently telling him not to get provoked easily. Finally, Dad took a few deep breaths to calm himself down.

I moved forward and talked to the vampire, “I don’t want to go back to the vampire kingdom ever again. So tell my grandfather he can shove it.”

My rude remarks stunned everyone.

“We can do this the hard way or the easy way? It’s your choice, Princess,” one of those vampires said.

“Go on! Try your hardest to take me back to the Clanbella Kingdom! I dare you,” I challenged them.

“Please reconsider your decision, Princess! We really don’t want to do this the hard way,” said another vampire.

“I won’t change my mind. I will never come with you willingly,” I emphasized.

“Then don’t blame us if we have to use force!” other vampire warned.

The vampires began to lurge towards us. To tell you the truth, it wasn’t a fair fight. There were twelve vampires against just the three of us. Well, two to be exact, because I couldn’t fight.

I knew I had found out about my vampire power a year ago, but now I couldn’t use it against those vampires. I had been practicing to use my power with my father for the last one year, and based on my experience, I needed to drink blood first to activate my vampire power because my power wasn’t perfect yet. Since I hadn’t drunk blood for such a long time, my power was useless now.

I watched helplessly as my father and Randolph were fighting against those vampires. If one of those vampires got close enough to me, either my father or Randolph would step in front of me to protect me.

Despite being outnumbered, it’s a miracle that my father and Randolph could defeat all of the vampires. They all were lying unconscious on the ground now.

However, we couldn’t breathe a sigh of relief yet, because we knew that more vampires would turn up soon. That’s why the three of us started running again.
