Chapter 32

Ivan’s Point of View:

It had been three days. Three long days went by since I and my daughter and Randolph split up in the forest while we were running from King Bellamy’s soldiers. I told them to meet me at the nearest town after we managed to shake off our pursuers, but neither Rosangela nor Randolph turned up.

I wondered what happened to them. A wide range of possibilities raced through my mind. I was afraid they got caught by King Bellamy’s soldiers and had been brought to the kingdom of Clanbella by now. But if those soldiers didn’t capture them, where were they right now? Did they go to a different town? Or had they returned to our old house? What if they got lost in the forest and couldn’t find a way out? And the worst thing that could happen was they were probably attacked by the rogues and got hurt now.

I decided to return to the forest where we parted and searched the area for Rosangela and Randolph. But so far, there was no sign of Rosangela and Randolph anywhere.

“Rosanne, Randolph, where are you?” I asked myself worriedly.

I stopped dead in my tracks when suddenly I heard a cry of pain in the distance. I cautiously approached the source of the sound and found a stark naked man lying face down on the ground. His back was covered in weals. Blood was pouring out of his welts. The injured man kept groaning indicated that he was clearly in a lot of pain.

I crouched down beside the man and flipped him over. I was astounded to see Randolph’s face that was covered in bruises. I cursed myself for my stupidity. I was too preoccupied with my own thoughts to notice that it was Randolph.

Carefully, I laid Randolph’s head on my lap.

“Randolph? Randolph?” I called as I tapped him lightly on both cheeks.

His eyelids fluttered but did not open. The only thing that told me that he was still conscious was his groan of pain.

“Randolph, what’d happened to you?” I asked anxiously.

“Va—vam—vampires,” Randolph managed to stutter a reply.

“So you’re attacked by vampires?” I inquired.

He nodded his head feebly.

“My worst fear is confirmed,” I thought, “Randolph was attacked by rogue vampires. And Rosanne...”

I went pale as realization dawned.

“Wait! Where is Rosanne? Why isn’t with you?” I enquired in panic tone.

“Sh—she’s...” Randolph tried to speak but soon drifted into unconsciousness.

“No, Randolph! Stay awake! Stay awake, Randolph! You have to tell me where my daughter is! Wake up, Randolph! Wake up!”

I shook Randolph violently by the shoulders to wake him, but Randolph didn’t open his eyes yet.

I let out a howl of frustration.

I rushed Randolph to the hospital. Of course it was not an ordinary hospital. Most of the doctors, nurses, staffs, and even the owner of the hospital were werewolves. That hospital provided a secret ward in the basement to take care of werewolves patients.

Randolph was now critically ill in intensive care. The doctors told me that he had slipped into a coma. And it might take days, weeks, or even months for him to regain consciousness. Randolph was the only one who knew where Rosangela was right now. If he didn’t wake up anytime soon, I would never be able to find my daughter, unless Rosanne came back by herself.

I had called Alpha Adolp Wolfgang an hour ago. He and Luna Meredith were now on their way here. The Alpha and Luna were worried sick when I told them about Randolph’s condition and Rosangela who went missing. Alpha Wolfgang then hurriedly sent a search party to help me look for my daughter.

I entered Randolph’s hospital room. He was lying on the bed with a mask on his mouth and nose, and tubes and needles sticking into his muscular body.
