Chapter 4

After taking a nap for a few hours, I awoke feeling rested and refreshed. It was five past six p.m. by the clock on the wall, so I thought it’s time to take a shower, and then I should get ready for dinner.

Springing out of bed, I glided over to my wardrobe. I pulled out the first thing on top of the pile of clothes, a pair of baby pink pajama trousers and a white tee shirt. I also took out a pink lace bra and matching panties.

After that, I walked out of my bedroom and headed straight to the bathroom which was located beside my room. I put my clothes on the vanity before stepping into the shower cubicle. Drawing the curtains, I stripped off my clothes, and finally had a shower.

Once finished, I leaned over to push aside the shower curtain and grab a clean towel. I dried myself off and wrapped myself in the towel. Stepping out of the shower cubicle, I took my clothes from the vanity and dressed quickly.

Leaving the bathroom, I returned to my bedroom and sat down in front of the dressing table. I took a comb and drag it through my hair before throwing my hair up into a ponytail.

“By the way, where is my dad? Why didn’t he wake me up? Is he still sleeping?” I asked myself.

“I’d better check on him now,” I decided.

I pounded at the door again and called out, “Dad?” But my father didn’t reply yet.

Overcome by curiosity, I pushed the door open. Apparently, the room was empty.

'If my father isn’t in his room, where is he now?' I wondered.

Shutting the door, I lastly went downstairs to look for my father. Luckily, I found him sitting on the sofa of the living room in a pair of gray sweatpants and a black T-shirt. He was staring into space, like a man in a trance.

I walked up to my father and greeted, “Hi Dad.”

But my father didn’t respond me. He seemed to be so involved in his thoughts that he didn’t hear me calling him.

At last, I tapped my father on the shoulder. “Dad?”

My father finally turned round and his face cracked into a smile. “Oh hi, Rosanne.”

I sank into an armchair beside my dad and asked curiously, “What are you doing here, Dad?”

“I’m thinking of your mother, Rosanne,” Dad answered with a sigh, “I miss her terribly.”

“I miss Mom too, Dad,” I said sadly.

We lapsed into silence for a moment until I decided to break it.

“Dad, can you tell me about Mom, please? I want to get to know her,” I requested.

“Sure thing,” Dad replied, and finally, he started to tell me about my mom.

I listened carefully to my father’s tale of the vampire princess. It was said that my mother, Princess Claribelle was a kindhearted princess. She was loved by her people and respected by the people from other kingdoms. A big mistake caused my mom to be banished to the human world.

Fate then threw my mother and father together. They fell in love with each other and decided to get married. However, my mother’s father, King Bellamy forbade the marriage. Even though my grandfather didn’t approve it, my mother still married my father.

One year later, I was born as their product of love. Then the tragedy struck my family. My mother was killed and I was separated from my father. 17 years later, I was finally reunited with my father. And here we were now, missing my mother dreadfully.

Third Person’s Point of View:

Without the two of them realizing, there was someone who was peeping at them through the crack in the curtains.

“I miss both of you too,” that person whispered tearfully before spinning around and walking off into the dusk.
