Running out of the throne room after Prince Maximilian, Jasper shrilled, “Your Highness, wait for me!”

Maximilian finally walked a little slower, so Jasper could catch him up and fell into step beside him.

“We can’t wait King Bellamy works out a plan to rescue Rosanne; It’s wasting time. We have to save her by ourselves. What do you think, Jasper?” Maximilian asked for his bodyguard’s opinion.

“I’m with you on this one, Your Highness,” Jasper rejoined.

“Great!” Maximilian exclaimed.

“Ought we to tell Sigmund about this, Your Highness?” Jasper enquired, “I mean, Princess Mirabelle’s letter was addressed to Sigmund, so it’s clear that she expected Sigmund to come to her rescue, right?”

“Yes, we ought to tell Sigmund about this matter, Jasper. I think it will work to our advantage to let him in on our plan,” said Maximilian.

“You can say that again, Your Highness,” Jasper agreed with him.

“OK, let’s go!” Maximilian gave a command.

With a firm grip on Prince Maximilian’s arm, Jasper teleported the two of them to the dungeon where Sigmund was kept as a prisoner only to find his cell empty.

“Sigmund is not here, Your Highness,” Jasper gasped.

“Yeah. Wherever can he have gone to, Jasper?” Maximilian wondered.

“Has he been released from jail, Your Highness?” Jasper guessed.

“It’s impossible!” Maximilian disagreed, “I will certainly be notified by King Bellamy if he wants to release Sigmund from prison.”

“Was he transferred to another prison, then?” Jasper asked.

“I don’t think so,” replied Maximilian, “From the look of it, he seems to have escaped from prison.”

“But how come he escape from a maximum-security prison without being noticed?” Jasper queried in bewilderment.

“Someone must have helped him escape from prison because he definitely can not do it alone,” Maximilian assumed.

“You’re telling me, Your Highness!” Jasper completely agreed with his prince, “In his state, Sigmund won’t be able to do it by himself. But who have helped him break out of the jail?”

Maximilian shrugged. “Your guess is as good as mine, Jasper.”

“Your Highness, I think we’d better get out of this place now before the warders realized that Sigmund has broken out of the jail. I don’t want them to put the blame for the breakout on us,” Jasper suggested.

“You’re right, Jasper. Let’s get out of here now and then go to rescue Rosanne!” Maximilian exclaimed.

“All right, Your Highness,” Jasper responded.

“But before we leave,” Maximilian said, his voice holding a serious tone, “I feel called upon to warn you that without Sigmund, there are only the two of us who can rescue Rosanne, and it will be very risky. Do you still want to help me now?”

“Of course I’ll help you, Your Highness. That goes without saying,” Jasper answered with absolute certitude.

“OK then, let’s go now!” Prince Maximilian commanded.

With a nod, Jasper placed his hand on Maximilian’s arm and teleported the two of them to the kingdom of Nightshades directly.

Back at the throne room, King Bellamy was discussing the strategy to rescue his granddaughter with his most trusty men when suddenly the new head of security, Robert, rushed into the room without knocking

“Lord Sigmund has escaped from prison, Your Majesty,” Robert told his king.

King Bellamy smacked a fist down on to the armrest of his throne furiously. “Shit! How come he manage to escape from a maximum-security prison?”

“And we still have another problem, Your Majesty,” added Robert.

“What is that?” King Bellamy barked out a question.

“A guard reported overhearing Prince Maximilian and Jasper say they’re going to the Kingdom of Nightshades on their own to rescue Princess Mirabelle, Your Majesty,” Robert elaborated.

‘Damn!’ King Bellamy said to himself angrily, ‘Why is Maximilian being so careless? Ignatius will kill me if something happens to his only son.’

“Robert, call out the troops now! We must come after Prince Maximilian to the kingdom of Nightshades, pronto! We can’t let Prince Maximilian rescue Mirabelle alone.”

“All right, Your Majesty.” With a nod, Robert excused himself to carry out his king’s order.
