One year later...

Rosangela pushed the door open and walked into an Italian restaurant where she arranged to meet her best friend since High School, Valerie. Her eyes darted around the room, looking for Valerie, but there was no sign of her anywhere. She could only see some waiters who threaded between the crowded tables with trays of food and drinks, and the customers who sat in the tables, talking amongst themselves. She glanced at her wristwatch and realized that she arrived five minutes early. That explained why Valerie hadn’t come yet. Finally, Rosangela made for an empty table in the far corner and took a seat in one of the chairs.

While waiting for her friend to get to that restaurant, Rosangela produced a mobile phone from her pocket and started surfing the internet, just to kill time. About five minutes or so later, she heard someone calling her name, so she twisted in her chair. A smile worked its way into Rosangela’s face when she saw her best friend standing in the doorway of the restaurant. Rosangela waved and Valerie crossed over before she finally plonked herself down in the chair opposite.

“I’m sorry I’m late,” Valerie apologized, “Have you been waiting long?”

“It’s okay. I have only just arrived myself,” said Rosangela with a smile.

“Have you ordered yet?” Valerie asked.

Rosangela shook her head. “No, I haven’t.”

“OK then, let’s order now!” Valerie beckoned to a passing waiter to ask for the menu.

The waiter hurried across to them with two menu books in his hand and gave Rosangela and Valerie one each.

The two best friends looked at the menu for a moment. Then, Rosangela ordered a plate of spaghetti bolognese and a glass of orange juice, while Valerie ordered herself a box of pepperoni pizza and a glass of pineapple juice.

After jotting down their orders in his notebook, the waiter excused himself and shuffled across the room to the kitchen to get the two girls’ orders.

As they waited for their lunch to be served, Rosangela and Valerie talked, catching up on each other’s news. Their conversation lapsed when the waiter came back with their orders.

The two best friends murmured their thanks after the waiter set the food and drinks on the table.

“It’s a pleasure,” the waiter responded with a friendly smile.

Immediately the waiter left their table, Rosangela tucked into her huge plateful of pasta, while Valerie wolfed down her pizza. In between their meals, the two of them laughed and chatted happily.

Neither of them was aware that there was a man watching them. To be exact, he kept staring at the girl with chocolate eyes and curly dark brown hair which tumbled down over her shoulders. From the moment he laid his eyes on her, he was completely bewitched by her beauty until he was unable to tear his eyes away from her.

‘Mine!’ a tiny inner voice said possessively.

The man reached into the front pocket of his jacket and took out his mobile phone. He then snapped a few candid photographs of the girl and e-mailed those photos to one of his men straightaway. After that, the man dialled his man’s number and touched the call button. Lastly, he clamped the mobile phone to his ear and waited for the telephone to connect.

Seconds later, someone finally answered the phone. “Hello, Alpha Teowulf,” greeted a voice at the other end.

“Marco, I want you to find out as much information as you can about a girl. I’ve sent her pictures by e-mail to you. Check it out now!” Alpha Teowulf ordered.

“Just a second, please, I’ll check,” said Marco.

“If you don’t mind me asking, who is the girl in the picture, Alpha?” Marco enquired.

“She’s your future Luna,” Alpha Teowulf replied with a smug smile.
