Epilogue - 1 Year Later

It’s amazing how things can fall into place.

I couldn’t help but think about that as I sat on the porch of the farmhouse and enjoyed the beautiful Spring day. The birds were singing in the trees and the bright sunlight was filtering down across the expansive yard. All in all, it was a peaceful scene, and definitely one that I’d been hoping we’d have for quite a while.

A year had now passed since the events with Noah and the subsequent return of our Seraphim known as Malakai. I have to admit that a lot had happened in that time too. For the first time in our lives, our family had actually split up some. I had moved away from Madison, opting for a change in scenery. So much had happened there that I honestly had felt like I needed it.

After a bit of searching, Sara and I had finally settled on this nice house outside of New Orleans. It was a beautiful little place, set about ten miles from the nearest town. We had a good piece of land and a beautiful view of the fields and trees.

All in all, we had exactly what we wanted in it. A peaceful place to enjoy our lives together.

By this time, Sara and Anna had settled themselves into their new existence as Nephilim. I’d dare say that they took to it naturally, just as we’d learned to do.

I’ll admit that it was a welcome change for me to have Sara by my side as such. In fact, being with her had brought me a happiness that I’d say I’d been lacking for a very long time.

I had truly come to the belief that I’d finally found the woman that I was meant to find. What an amazing thing when I considered everything. Missy had been my first, and would always remain deep within my heart, but Sara would be the everlasting. She was the one aside from my daughter and grandchildren to make my life complete.

The sound of the screen door opening brought me back to reality. I looked over to see Sara coming out to join me. Dressed in a blue dress and sandals with her black hair in a long braid, she was quite a radiant sight.

“What a beautiful day,” she commented as she took a seat beside me.

“Yes, it is. It seems that winter has finally left.” I agreed with a smile.

“It’s about time. Even though it was nice to see the snow, I’m done with the cold.” Sara continued.

I looked out at the trees as we back sat back together, “I have to agree, although I wonder if this warmth has moved up to New York yet.” Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Yeah, that is true. I’m still kind of surprised that Raziel and Anna moved up there. I wouldn’t have thought that Anna would like somewhere that didn’t get as warm as Maryland.” Sara admitted.

“I think that they were looking for a change in pace. Personally, I think that it will be better for Noah too. I heard that he was starting a public school too. That was what surprised me.” I told her.

Sara looked surprised too, “You’re kidding. I thought that he hated the idea of going to an actual school.”

“Well, things do change, and personally, I think that it’s better for him. He needs to start doing more on his own now. Hopefully, it will help him break out of that shell of his completely.”

I did mean every word of that. But then, I had no real doubt of it either. Ever since those events, it was like Noah had been reborn in a sense. I believe that he’d finally been able to accept who and what he was, and it had given him a freedom that he’d never known before. If starting a public school would expand that, then it was the best.

But before we could say any more about this, we noticed a car pulling up to the house. It was a gold Nissan and looked fairly new. But neither of us recognized it, which was quite odd. We did not get many visitors, and certainly not ones that we didn’t know.

Standing up, I walked down the porch steps as it stopped in front of the house. Sara also got up and joined me, obviously just as curious.

The car turned off and the driver’s side door opened, and a young man got out. He was quite beautiful, with sun-colored blonde hair and a slender build. But the thing that immediately caught us were his green eyes. They were quite vibrant, and both of us knew right away that he wasn't truly human.

In fact, looking at him, I had the strangest sense of déjà vu. It was like he should’ve been very familiar, even though we’d never seen him before.

The man gave us a friendly smile as he regarded us.

“I’m going to assume that I was right. You are Michael and Sara, aren’t you?” he spoke up.

His voice was light and cheerful, and I noticed that he carried an Italian accent, although it wasn’t that overbearing.

“Yes, but I’m afraid that we don’t quite know you. Is there something going on to where you needed to find us?” I asked him.

“I can’t really say that it’s anything bad,” the man responded. He took a few steps forward and extended a hand to me, “I’m Seth Hawthorne. I’m one of the Nephilim of the Emerald clan.”

I heard Sara gasp as he said that, and my own heart jumped. That was why he was so familiar. He was another Nephilim, and from one of the other two clans. For the first time, we were finally meeting one of them.

“You’re actually one from another of the families?” I said in disbelief.

Seth laughed, “I’m sorry. I suppose that I did surprise you, but when I heard your names, I just knew that you had to be from the Renaldi family, and I had to see you. After all, none of us have gotten to meet any of the other families yet, and personally, I think that it’s high time we did, considering the fact that your Seraph had finally been able to rejoin you. I’d say that things have certainly changed enough for such to happen.” he explained.

“Yes, I think so too.” I agreed, shaking his hand as I finally pulled out of my shock.

“And it is good to finally get to meet one of you. Would you like to come in? We certainly don’t mind company.” Sara added, smiling at him.

Seth nodded, keeping the same friendly smile, “Of course.”

Looking back on this moment, I can say with certainty that everything was finally changing for the better. It all was coming full circle, and we understood that we weren’t alone in the world. I felt at ease with that as the three of us headed into the house.

The future was going to be interesting, but it would always be well worth looking forward to. That I will always be sure of.
