I stay at the party and watch Sasha from a distance. Even when I see a guy dance with her I stop myself from going over there and ripping him in half. I’m proud of myself for showing so much restraint. Lucky for me Sasha told him she has a boyfriend and he scattered away. I’m confused why she told him she had a boyfriend though if she pretended not to know me.

What game is she playing?

When Sasha leaves the party I follow her across campus blending into the shadows. She leaves with a girl named Chelsea. The same friend I saw her dancing with. They go to a sorority house where Sasha retires to her room. I still can’t believe she is in university and a sorority. It’s very unlike her. Her whole room is pink with fluffy girly decorations, the complete opposite of Sasha.

After I know Sasha is safely asleep I head to my hotel room. I call Theo and let him know I found her and she is safe. He decides to drive up here and tells me he will see me in the morning. I go to sleep thinking of Sasha. She looked so beautiful in the dress she had on. And when I tasted her the look in her eye told me she wanted more despite her games.

Morning comes quickly and Theo shows up bright and early. He is dressed in khakis a plaid shirt and a blue baseball cap. He looks ridiculous as he walks in spinning keys on his finger.

“Really you drove her car here?” I instantly recognize the car keys in his hand.

“Yes. Swift will want her car back soon. I had to take the chance to drive it while I could.” I snatch the keys from him and shove them in my pocket he frowns. Sasha and I shouldn’t have taught him how to drive.

“She loves her car. If there is even a scratch on it she will kill you. Bring you back to life then kill you again.” I tell him and he laughs and sits on the couch.

“I’m not worried. What worries me is you said Swift is pretending not to know you. Why would she do that?”

I run my hand through my hair frustrated and sit beside Theo. “I have no idea but I’m suspicious of her friend. I noticed last night she had bite marks on her neck. They weren’t fresh. A vampire has been feeding off her friend. I can’t let Sasha be next.”

“Yeah her blood is crazy addicting. If you weren’t her beloved you probably would have gone crazy and killed her for it. So how do we find the vampire responsible?”

“I want you to tail her friend. She lives in the sorority house with her so it shouldn’t be too hard -”

“Wait Swift lives in a sorority house?? Like legally blonde? I love that movie. Please tell me we can go there!”

Theo makes a puzzled face. “But what if she isn’t pretending? What if she really can’t remember you? If there is a vampire on the loose around campus he could have compelled her.”

His idea makes sense. I love Sasha but are her acting skills really that good? Sasha is half fae so it would have to be a pretty strong older vampire to compel her. Trust me I tried when I forgot her grocery order once and she looked at me like I was stupid. The angry sex was worth it though.

“I have a perfect idea!”

“Oh no. This sounds like a bad idea already.” Theo tells me and I wave him off.

“No, it’s good trust me. I’ll find Sasha and tell her how much I love and miss her. Even if she is pissed at me she will respond. And then I will know if she is faking it or not.”

Theo shakes his head at me. “That’s a terrible idea. If she really has amnesia she is going to be freaked out by a stranger saying he loves her.”

“Trust me she is faking it and by tomorrow we will be back together and back to finding the black witch.”
