Chapter 15 I’m Not Worth It 

The car pulled over at the entrance of the Perkins mansion. Patrick got out of the car quickly, walked to the car door on Anna’s side, opened the door for her respectfully, and opened the umbrella. 

Anna froze and felt moved. 

“Thank you. You don’t have to do this for me.” She said carefully. 

She didn’t want to hurt Patrick. All that she had experienced made her classify everyone as fragile as if she could shatter the other party easily once she said something wrong. 

In the past, when she met a man she didn’t like, she would always be straightforward, “Stop flattering me. It’s disgusting. Go away!” 

Thinking about it now, she realized that her willfulness at that time had encouraged the dark force that finally pulled her down into the abyss. 

Patrick heard Anna’s thanks, and couldn’t help feeling a little sad. During the past three years, that proud rich girl had turned into such a sensitive poor girl, which was a sad thing. 

Of course, Patrick felt sorry for her. 

“Anna, it’s just a small thing. You don’t need to thank me…” He choked up a little. The girl he had admired and respected so much had suddenly turned into such a poor thing. He certainly felt sorry for her.

“I’m not worth it.” Anna curled her lips. She wasn’t admitting defeat, but laughing at herself. Her clear and bright eyes exposed the shackles in her heart. The issue of identity was the shackles she had to face. 

Patrick just wanted to hug his beloved girl in front of him, but he finally held back. Politeness was the last dignity he left for her. She might no longer be aloof and proud, but he would never take the opportunity to defile her. 

“No matter what, Anna, I always believe in your innocence. You didn’t kill anyone.” 

His frankness reassured Anna greatly. Finally, there was still someone in this world who was willing to believe in her. She gave Patrick a slight smile, and Patrick finally knew why Anna had been called “the beauty with the most charming smile” in the business circle in the first place. Her relieved and sincere smile was indeed breathtaking. 

“Thank you.” Anna regained her composure and walked towards the house. There was always a distance of two feet between her and Patrick, because Anna always believed that distance was the best way of protection. She didn’t want anyone else to be caught up in endless rumors because of her. 

After entering the house, Anna went to see her father, who was already asleep. She tucked him in. Apart from her debt to him, all that was left in her mind was gratitude. 

After taking a shower, she sat on the bed and straightened her dry hair. The bed was covered with forked hair, which made her feel a little overwhelmed.

good care of her by letting her continue to live with the Perkins family. Now she was old enough to get married. Besides, she had been in prison and there was no reason for her to depend on the Perkins family for the rest of her life. Her so–called biological father Brad would only push her off the cliff. If it weren’t for the identity of Mr. Perkins as a backing and support, she would have died long ago! 

After much deliberation, Anna only thought of a way to save herself, and that was to get married. 

Only when she got married could she have a shelter where Brad wouldn’t be able to easily set foot, let alone hurt her at any time. A situation like tonight would never happen again. 

She thought of Carlos’s cold eyes and Pier’s disgusted face. She shook her head immediately. If she could get married, maybe they would be much nicer when they saw her. At least, she had already made a choice, and a stable life would not allow her to have any wrong ideas about Carlos so that he could relax completely. 

She didn’t want to be stared at by Carlos’s cold eyes again. 

The roar of the hair dryer temporarily shielded Anna from all worries. Her fragile dry hair fell off as the wind increased. She tidied her fallen hair, carefully wrapped it in a tissue, crumpled it up, and threw it into the trash can. Then she took off her bathrobe and changed into comfortable pajamas. 

In the past, wearing this silk nightgown would only make her plump places fuller and her thin places thinner. But now when she stood in front of the huge floor–to–ceiling mirror, she saw a shriveled, thin, fake daughter without the slightest bit of femininity.

11788 Vouchers No wonder Carlos had looked at her like that after she took off her coat during the striptease. There was clearly disdain and sarcasm in his eyes, and he was laughing at her for how bad her figure was. 

Well, never mind. 

Anna lowered her head and smiled. Since she was determined to stay away, why bother thinking of these things to torture herself? 

The light from the yard shone faintly, and Anna turned around to draw the curtains. When she raised her eyes, she saw Carlos standing on the balcony of the bedroom of the Scott mansion opposite. The night was too dark, and she couldn’t see his expression clearly, but that tall and straight figure gave off an intimidating aura of coldness. Anna could feel it from such a distance. 

Back then, Anna had chosen this bedroom on purpose because it was facing Carlos’s bedroom. After she went to jail, Todd kept it for her. At that time, she had loved Carlos so much that she even bought a telescope, planning to spy on Carlos’s every move anytime. If she could see Carlos walking out of the shower naked, she would definitely have a good dream that night. 

However, now that she woke up from the dream. Carlos’s strong chest and clear abs had been crushed by three years of memory. She had lost the ability to recall and the 

motivation to fantasize. 

Of course, Carlos didn’t need these memories and motivation. 

What he thought must be “Don’t get near me and leave me alone“. Her absence would be considered a gift from God to 

him.

Lying on the bed, she felt drowsy when her phone suddenly 

rang. 

She fumbled to take it, and saw the caller ID “Carlos“. 

Most of her drowsiness was driven away. She sat up and stared at the phone screen in shock. 

It was so late. Why did he call her? 

Was it because he had misunderstood her actions just now and he was calling her to warn her or even humiliate her?
