19. Grandpa’s Protection

The chatters coming from the dining room stopped. Heidi halted in her footsteps, her eyes snapping to her uncle who was rushing down the stairs.

With his phone in his hands, the man looked frantic.

“Aha!” He sighted Heidi and his expression turned mad. “Thank goodness, the culprit has arrived. Heidi, tell me what is the meaning of this.”

He flashed his phone’s screen in front of her. “Weren’t you so full of yourself that you can manage AG Group in the future? Is your actual goal to take it down!?”

“Didn’t I warn you to leave Heidi alone? Why do you bully this little girl, Harold?” Grandpa Jeffrey left his chair, his cold eyes fixed on his first son.

“Father, I don’t see why I should bully Heidi. You have to see what she did.”

“What did she do?”

Heidi’s uncle dashed forward and showed him the phone’s screen. “The latest and trending topic on every news channel is the announcement of GK Group severing its ties with AG Group. Whose doing do you think this is?”

“Ah! What have you done, Heidi?”

Lilian put on a shocked look and covered her mouth.

“Heidi, I heard that you kicked out GlamGrove Agency from StriveStyle Co. Isn’t it common knowledge that GlamGrove Agency belongs to GK Group? Did you really take on this job to save the family or to take revenge on your Ex-husband?”

It was Beatrice, her uncle’s wife, who spoke.

“Aha! You’re in a big soup, Heidi!” Aiden threw his head back and laughed. “The last company you’d ever wanna trifle with is GK Group. Grandpa, AG Group’s dead meat-”

“Shut up! Scoundrel!” Grandpa Jeffrey kicked him with his cane. “Is this what you’re all fussing about, interrupting my dinner?”

“Grandpa, don’t you know the enormity of the problem?” Lilian exclaimed.

“We the Olsens are not chickens. Let Heidi kick that scumbag to the curb. He dared to mistreat my granddaughter, who said AG Group won’t stand without thein?”

Heidi blinked.

Could someone tell her what was going on?

While her uncle’s family fumed, her parents silently ate their food as if the drama wasn’t happening right in front of them.

Natalie looked lost in her own world with the huge earpod on her ears.

“If you want to say anything else, wait until we’re done eating! Don’t disrupt this family’s dinner because of something insignificant.”

Grandpa Jeffrey’s words commanded silence and after that, no one said a word or even dared to make a sound. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Ha! Heidi, you really are something.” Lilian followed her down the hallway while Heidi was heading to her room after dinner.

“Say what you want.” Heidi turned around, giving her an impatient look.

“Don’t be full of yourself.” Lilian smirked. “Grandpa can’t protect you everywhere. You’re not up to this task, just give up already.”

“Believe me, I can survive without Grandpa’s protection.” Heidi gave her a sweet smile. “Where was Grandpa during the three years I was away from home? Was Grandpa at the company today when you sent that crazy lady to threaten me?”

“You-” Lilian pointed a shaking finger at her. “How did you know?”

“The same way I know that you and Aiden are planning to strip me of my position at StriveStyle Co. You were shameless enough to collude with those board of directors, weren’t you?”

“Damnit, Heidi. We were all living happily before you came back. Just go back to your Ex-husband and beg him to take you back. He’s rich enough to give you whatever you want, you don’t have to snatch our belongings.”

“Maybe you should beg me to rehire you at StriveStyle Co. You’re not facing a lawsuit now because you’re a family member. Don’t think I can’t take any actions against you.”

“In your dreams!” Lilian screamed. ” The day I beg you will be the day I’ll cease bearing the Olsens surname. You’re dreaming too far, Heidi.”

“Hehe, I’ll be patient enough to wait for your wedding day.”

“Argh!” Lilian groaned and gave Heidi a hard glare before leaving.

She’d rather put her brain cells to use by conjuring up plans to make Heidi regret.

Very soon, Heidi would wish she never came back!
