Chapter 5

After sending the message. Yvette turned off her phone and lay on her bed quietly. The familiar yet distant voice was still echoing beside her ears. “Where are you, Yvette?”

Soon, her lips curled into a subtle smile, and tears silently trickled down to her hair.

She said inwardly, Johnny Freeman, from today onward, I have nothing to do with you anymore!”

That night, Yvette was plagued by a series of nightmares. First, she dreamed of her father’s plane crash, and then her mother’s horrific death. Finally, she dreamed of Towell Group’s bankruptcy and how the Towell residence was seized by the bank. As soon as the metal gates were closed, she entered the Luxford residence.

The dream was probably too sorrowful, and Yvette began to cry. She ended up jolting herself awake in the process.

Warm rays of sunshine had seeped into the room. A new day would always begin.

A sudden thought came to Yvette’s mind. She turned on her phone hastily.

Those hundreds of messages sent by that person were automatically ignored by her. She located the unfamiliar number and dialed it without hesitation.

“Ms. Towell, a car is already waiting for you outside the university gates. The person on the other end of the line spoke before Yvette could say a word. From the looks of it, the car had been waiting there for a long time. Perhaps, it was not just here to pick her up, but to capture her as well.

Nevertheless, there was not much time for Yvette to ponder over this. After washing herself up and having a quick change of clothes, she headed outside.

Indeed, there was a black Bentley parked outside the university gates. Gregory was standing in front of the car with a straight back. He opened the door when he saw Yvette.

“I’m sorry. I forgot to turn on my phone,” she said.

“Don’t worry, Ms. Towell, Mrs. Luxford knows you: re true to your words, Gregory replied.

Yvette smiled and got into the car.

It had nothing to do with being true to one’s words. Simply put, Lauren knew how much Yvette cared about the Towell residence, and that she would not run away.

The car arrived at the Luxford residence. There were neither flowers nor fancy decorations. It was unbelievably quiet, and it did not feel as if a wedding was taking place at all.

To be precise, the Luxford family did not even prepare for a wedding. A disgraced heiress and an unconscious heir would be the most bizarre couple of the year. The Luxford family could not make itself a laughingstock.

Therefore, there was no wedding and no wedding car. Yvette did not even have a wedding dress, and she was simply ushered into the Luxford residence.

Although only a day had passed, she was now treated as a completely different person at the residence. She thought, “If that’s the case, they didn’t even have to bother with the formalities yesterday. They could have just let me move in immediately.”

Yvette followed the familiar stone-covered pathway and entered the mansion. This time, however, she had someone to carry her suitcase for her. The ser vant even took her suitcase to a room upstairs, so she did not have a chance to flee.

Joyful cheers from children resounded in the mansion. Yvette was about to look at the living room when Gregory stood in ber way. “Your outfit is upstairs. You’d better go upstairs to freshen up, Ms. Towell’

As she listened, Yvette recalled she had spent the night at the university. There was no water over there, and she had not showered.

She nodded bashfully and followed a female ser vant to a room upstairs.

“Here’s Mr. Luxford’s room, Ms. Towell. The ser vant stood at the door to Joshua’s room. Yvette was stunned. She looked at the door, which was ajar, before pushing it carefully.

The quiet and simple room was illuminated brightly by crystal lamps. The color scheme of the interior revolved around. black, white, and gray, exuding the man’s tough and icy aura.

The room resembled an uninhabited ice cave rather than a bridal chamber.

Yvette stopped still in front of the bedroom door and saw the unfamiliar man lying on the big, gray bed.
