Zong Yanxi was startled, her whole body felt tensed and she just wanted to turn around and berate him but when she turned around, she saw Tawan collapse on the floor.
She stiffened for a moment and then slowly squatted down. She patted his face, and called his name, “Tawan?”
There was no response.
She frowned and then patted a bit harder. “Tawan, please don’t play tricks on me. I’ll be very angry.”
Still, there was no sign of him waking up.
She started to panic and quickly brought out her mobile phone to call for an ambulance.
Approximately half an hour later, the ambulance arrived and he was taken to the hospital.
Zong Yanxi sat on the bench in the corridor waiting while the doctor examined him.
After a short while, the doctor came out.
She got up and went over to the doctor, asking, “Doctor, how is he?”
The doctor looked at her with a strange expression on his face, “How are you related to him?”
“Friends,” Zong Yanxi replied.
“Girlfriend?” Before Zong Yanxi could answer, the doctor had already decided that she was. “Did he take a party drug that is particularly popular in the market now? This drug is powerful and arouses sexual instinct, brings on desire but it comes with side effects too.”
Zong Yanxi was shocked, knowing that Nan Cheng must have given Tawan the party drug. She thought it was just an aphrodisiac so she did not expect any side effects.
“What kind of side effects?”
“This medicine makes the user very excited, but after it is over, he may not remember what happened earlier. We have checked the patient and there is no major damage to the body. However, it is best not to take this medicine as it is rather harmful to the body.” The doctor said.
She nodded indicating that she understood. Then she asked, “He fell unconscious. Was it part of the side effects of the drug?”
“Yes, he had not released the pent-up energy. The suppressed desire in his body caused this fainting,” the doctor explained and continued, “I understand that young people like you look for excitement but it is better to do things naturally. Using this type of drug may lead in addiction and harm to the body.”
Zong Yanxi felt embarrassed and reluctantly bit the corner of her lips as she replied, “I see.”
Not long afterwards, Tawan was pushed out on his bed, “You must be his family. After a while, you may leave after he wakes up.”
“Alright.”
She got a chair and sat down by the bedside, waiting for Tawan to wake up.
As she waited, she fell asleep resting on the side of the bed.
When she woke up, it was already dawn.
Slowly she opened her eyes and lifted her hand to look at time on her wristwatch. It’s already five o’clock. Isn’t Tawan awake yet?
The moment she lifted her head, she saw him sitting on the side of the bed.
“You’re awake?” She was a little stunned. “Why didn’t you wake me?”
Tawan turned to look at her. “I’m pondering over a question.”
“What’s on your mind?”
He blinked and asked, “How did I end up in the hospital?”
“You ate something that made you sick and you fainted so I brought you here.” She stood up and stretched her body. “Since you’re awake, I should go back then.”
Tawan was still curious. “I remember there was an electric power interruption at the hotel and a woman appeared…”
He could remember things that happened before but not what happened when the power of the drug was at its strongest.
“Illusions, those were illusions. Let’s go quickly.” Zong Yanxi did not want him to think about those confusing moments. “Grandma is still at the hotel. I’m worried as she’s there by herself.”
“Yeah.” Tawan did not question her any further. He followed her out of the hospital and called a cab to go back to the hotel.
In the cab, Zong Yanxi asked, “Can you give me a hand, today?”
“What is it?”
“Today, I have to go out for a while. Can you take care of Grandma for me?” Zong Yanxi asked.
She had to see Nan Cheng and warn him not to bother her or harm those close to her.
Tawan agreed without asking any questions.
Back at the hotel, Zong Yanxi went to check on Zhuang Zijin. She waited for her to wake up, had breakfast with her before she went out again.
Tawan took her out to go sightseeing nearby.
Zong Yanxi took a cab to Jiang Mohan’s company.
Nan Cheng was also at the company to see Jiang Mohan. He had wanted to be frank and to admit to the mistakes he made. So, he waited until the working hours started.
Then he knocked on his boss’ office door.
Jiang Mohan was answering a call. He said, “Come in,” and continued listening on the phone. It was from the hospital informing him that the time for surgery had been scheduled.
“Alright. I’ll be there.”
Before the surgery could be performed, there would be many tests to do so he had to be there early.
The person on the other end said something and he replied before putting down the phone.
Nan Cheng came over and said, “Sorry.”
He had come because he wanted to apologize.
Moving backward, Jiang Mohan leaned against the back of the chair and gazed at him coldly while he asked, “Sorry for what?”
Quite accurately, he had guessed the reason why Nan Cheng was here to tell him. He was really angry that he had acted without consulting him.
