Chapter 4

Under normal circumstances, Becky had the strength to push Sigmund away. However, she was holding her lower abdomen at this moment. She was in so much pain that she could not stretch.

Becky was in severe pain throughout the duration that Sigmund pressed down on her. This caused her lips and teeth to tremble. Her voice came out in fragmented utterances uncontrollably.

Severe abdominal pain almost made her experience spasms. She reached out, wanting to grab Sigmund’s cuff.

However, even the slightest movement caused excruciating pain, as if being cut by a knife.

In Sigmund’s eyes, her face appeared moist with a flushed complexion under the dim light of the night lamp. Sigmund felt that she was deliberately putting on an act.

Sigmund’s expression turned solemn. His rough fingers stroked her neck, which was so delicate that it felt like it would break if he pinched it. Suddenly, he then forcefully grabbed her neck.

Sigmund forcibly lifted her head, making her look at him. He curled his lip. His gaze gradually turned cold. He said, “I couldn’t see it before, but now I see it clearly.

“It turns out that you are so skilled in acting.”

He bent down. He breathed out heavily onto her flushed earlobe. “No wonder everyone is deceived by you,” he said. “You’re an out–and–out liar.”

“Buzz off,” Becky said.

Becky’s vision had long become blurry. Her voice was as faint as a mosquito’s.

After an unknown period of time, Becky’s body suddenly became weak. It was no longer as tense as before. Her eyes were tightly shut, making Sigmund realize that something was wrong.

He noticed that her face was pale, and both of her arms hung weakly by her side.

Sigmund’s dark eyes revealed a hint of frustration. He extended his long arms to embrace her tightly before getting up from the bed.

Outside the emergency room

The hands of the clock on the wall showed that it was three o’clock in the morning.

Sigmund took out a lighter from his pocket. Every time he wanted to press the ignition button, he put it back fretfully.

The tightly closed door of the emergency room was like an insurmountable barrier. It was perfectly sealed, inevitably making people feel a sense of restlessness.

The night–shift nurse kept glancing over at Sigmund Whenever their eyes met, her cheeks would

involuntarily flush.

“Is he a celebrity?” the nurse whispered to her colleague. “I’ve never seen someone so good–looking in real life.”

The nurse’s colleague saw Sigmund too. She looked amazed. “I guess so,” she said. “Being his girlfriend must be so lucky. He even makes the effort to send his girlfriend to the hospital late at night to receive medical treatment. He has also been waiting outside the ward.”

At this moment, the door of the emergency room was slowly opened.

The doctor, dressed in a white coat, saw Sigmund as soon as he walked out of the emergency room. “Come in, the doctor said.

He once again put away the lighter and got up, following the doctor into the emergency room.

Upon entering the emergency room, the doctor first gave some instructions regarding post–illness care. Then, he highlighted and discussed the details of the illness. He said, “The patient has had a stomach condition for many years, but the symptoms suddenly worsened this time, leading to fainting.

“Based on the diagnosis, it is likely that the patient had excessive alcohol consumption prior to the incident. Besides, there was also stimulation when she got intimate with a guy.”

The doctor pointed out the primary factors causing the condition. He then lifted his gaze and glanced at the man in front of him, shaking his head. He said, “Even if young people like you act on impulse, you should still choose the right timing.”

Seeing him remain silent, the doctor continued to reproach him for a while. The doctor then printed out the bill and handed it to Sigmund, instructing him to pay at the reception desk.

As Sigmund took the bill, he asked, “When will the test results be available?”

“You still have to wait for a while, the doctor said as he glanced at the clock on the wall.

It was early morning now, so the test results might take slightly longer than usual before it was available.

Sigmund turned around and went to pay the bill.

After the emergency medical treatment was administered, Becky’s condition stabilized. Even though she had regained consciousness, the lingering pain in her body had not completely subsided.

As she struggled to sit up, she looked at the white walls and medical equipment around her.

After a moment of daze, she realized she was in a hospital.

“You’re awake,” the doctor said as he walked in from outside. When he saw Becky propping herself up, he immediately asked her to lie down.

“Your husband went to pay the bill,” the doctor said. “This is the meuna…

The doctor handed her the medical report and gave her some instructions and advice. He advised her to avoid strenuous activities and to stay away from alcohol. Otherwise, she might not be as lucky next time.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Thanks, Doc,” Becky said.

Becky bit her lip gently and took the medical report. Initially, she did not pay much attention to it.

Her stomach disease was a conditiof that had developed over time. Hence, she already had a certain level of understanding about her condition.

However, when her gaze fell on the medical report, her whole body stiffened.

It took a full thirty seconds before she brought her wandering mind to the present.

The medical report indicated that she was pregnant.

Moreover, it indicated that she had been pregnant for nearly three weeks.

Becky gripped the medical report, her hands trembling slightly. “Pregnant,” she thought to herself. “I’m pregnant with Sigmund’s child.”

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, a sound came from her ward’s entrance.

She instinctively hid the medical report behind her back. Then, she lifted her head to look at the person approaching her, feeling somewhat flustered.

Sigmund walked forward, his face devoid of any expression.

He walked to the bedside and put down the mushroom soup that he was holding.

As Becky saw this scene, she was somewhat stunned. “In the early morning hours, he arrives even later than the doctor,” she thought to herself. “It turns out that he actually went out to get some food.”

Sigmund unwrapped the mushroom soup. Then, he deftly scooped some soup and somewhat impatiently brought it to her lips.

Becky looked at the spoon of soup being offered to her. As she raised her eyes, she caught sight of the warning gaze in Sigmund’s eyes. In the end, she opened her mouth and took a sip of the hot

soup

“Forget it,” she thought to herself. “Let’s not trouble my body.”

The warmth flowed into her stomach, and the pain in her body eased considerably.

Sigmund remained silent as he fed Becky the mushroom soup. Eventually, the mushroom soup was consumed entirely.

Chapter 4

Despite Sigmund being so caring and attentive in looking after her, Becky’s mind was filled with thoughts about the pregnancy report.

“Has the medical report come out?” Sigmund said. It was Sigmund who broke the tender moment of silence first.

His voice echoed in the quiet ward. Becky’s body trembled uncontrollably. She lowered her eyes slightly and said. “Yes, I’ve seen it. It’s my stomach disease acting up. Because of the requirements of the event that took place today. I drank more alcohol than usual.

“Sorry for bothering you at this hour, Becky said. “Anyway, it won’t delay us in carrying out the divorce procedures tomorrow,”

Her voice was soft, and her calm demeanor, in Sigmund’s eyes, inexplicably added a hint of restlessness.

Sigmund thought to himself, “Jeez, it’s so late now.

“All she can think about is getting a divorce.

“If you want a divorce so badly, why did you agree to get married to me in the first place?”

Sigmund’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His throat was dry and uncomfortable. He turned his face away and stopped looking at her.

He reached out to touch his pocket several times but still restrained his inner impulse.

“Let’s go back,” Sigmund said.

“Staying in this environment any longer may only make me more flustered,” Sigmund thought.

Sigmund had always disliked the hospital environment. This was something that Becky was well aware of. She nervously squeezed the report behind her back, feeling a sense of turmoil.

“Should I keep this child or not?” she thought to herself.

They drove all the way back to the Moolery family’s residence, only to find that the lights were on inside.

Upon opening the door, they saw Brigham standing in the living room with a cold and stern expression. He glared at Sigmund and said, “If you don’t explain everything clearly today, don’t return to the Moolery family’s residence again!”

When Brigham saw the pale–faced Becky, he frowned. He called a servant to hold her arms and send her back to her room to rest.

“There’s nothing to explain,” Sigmund said as he let go of Becky and met Brigham’s eyes, who were

in front of him.

“Bastard!” Brigham exclaimed.
