Chapter 18 

When Summer was applying iodine to Sanford’s body, she found that there were several old wounds on his body. 

The servants of the Hill family wouldn’t dare to hurt him. Alick indulged Sanford, so it would not be him. 

If Sanford hadn’t seen it with her own eyes today, she would have thought that it was Sanford who had grazed his body. 

Seeing that Sanford shook his head, Summer felt guilty and distressed. 

“Don’t be afraid. I won’t let anyone hurt you in the future.” Summer rubbed Sanford’s hair dotingly. 

Sanford pouted and ran back to his room. 

Summer sighed, bandaged her wound, and put on her slippers, hobbling to clean up the mess on the ground. 

Because of her injured foot, Summer didn’t walk around anymore. She picked up a book in the room and read on the bed for the whole afternoon. 

Sanford didn’t make any noise and stayed quietly in his room. 

It was already seven o’clock when Alick finished his work. The whole city was shrouded in darkness. 

Andres went on vacation. Alick didn’t know what was going on in the villa. 

Did Summer find a way to escape? She might get furious when she saw Alick later. 

Alick attributed this kind of unnoticeable joy to the pleasure of revenging on Summer. He couldn’t wait to see that Sanford embarrassed her. 

The villa was brightly lit, and there were people walking back and forth in the dining room. 

Without saying a word, Alick walked into the hall quietly. 

“Sanford, please give me the spoon. It hangs on the shelf on your left.”

Chapter 10 

Summer was putting salt in the soup. 

To Alick’s surprise, Sanford gave the spoon to Summer obediently. 

The oat porridge was stewed in the pot. Summer tasted it and ladled some for Sanford. 

Sanford took a sip, looking meek and satisfied. 

Suddenly, Alick didn’t want to break the silence. He was silent. 

After Summer married into the Hill family, she had been busy cooking. 

What was Alick’s attitude at that time? 

He despised, belittled, and trampled on Summer’s efforts. He hadn’t even tasted her cooking carefully. 

Summer was very satisfied with the soup she cooked tonight. When she was about to take it out, she heard Alick deliberately cough. 

Summer’s hands trembled, and she almost dropped the pot. 

Didn’t Alick promise not to come back often? 

Summer glanced at Sanford with mixed feelings. Sanford pretended not to see Alick and took the oat porridge to 

the table. 

Seeing that Sanford’s attitude towards Alick was even worse, Summer couldn’t help feeling happy secretly. 

“Mr. Hill, please step aside.” 

Summer passed Alick and put the hot pot in the center. 

“Sanford, be careful.” 

Summer took off her thick cotton gloves and sat opposite Sanford. 

After the episode in the afternoon, Sanford didn’t reject her anymore, and even Summer could feel Sanford’s need for her care slightly.

Chapter 18 

Sanford hoped to get the attention of Summer and stay by Summer’s side. Everything was going smoothly. 

Being isolated by the warm atmosphere, Alick could do nothing. Summer looked up at him and pretended that she had just noticed him. In fact, she had just talked to him. 

“Mr. Hill, would you like to join us?” Summer rolled her eyes and said in a disappointed tone without any sadness, “You must be full.” 

“I haven’t eaten yet.” 

Before Summer could say something, Alick strode over with a plate, pulled out the chair beside him, and sat down. 

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. Sanford jumped off the seat and moved aside. 

Summer couldn’t help laughing, “Mr. Hill, it seems that your son doesn’t like you.” 

Alick was probably used to it. Without any displeasure on his face, he began to eat. 

The three sat quietly at the table. Summer’s mind was in turmoil. 

In the past, she had been looking forward to having a meal with Alick. But now, when she no longer excessively hoped for it, her previous wish had been easily realized. 

Summer didn’t like this feeling, so she focused on things. 

Alick didn’t notice the change in Summer’s mood. Her cooking surprised him. 

What surprised him more was that Sanford was not so picky. He even ate up all his food. 

He was totally different from the little devil who threw things yesterday! 

All of a sudden, Alick noticed that Sanford looked pale. He frowned and asked, “What happened? Why are you looking so awful?” 

Sanford didn’t answer. 

Recalling what Sanford had suffered, Summer felt angry.

Chapter 18 

What made her even angrier was that Alick didn’t ask any more questions since Sanford didn’t tell him. 

How could he be a father like this?

“Mr. Hill, don’t you want to know why Sanford is ashen?” 

Summer was so angry that she rolled up Sanford’s sleeves, revealing the bruises on his arms. 

Only then did Alick realize the seriousness of the problem. He raised his head and saw Summer looking at him 

unhappily. 

“What the hell is going on?” 

Unwilling to talk to Alick, Sanford was about to leave. But Summer pulled him into her arms. 

“Why are you so fierce?” Summer complained. 

“Did you hurt him?” 

Summer was shocked by Alick’s thought and then understood why he said so. 

Andres was not at home, and there were two people in the house. 

Alick didn’t suspect Joan at all. He would rather believe that Sanford was hurt because of his biological mother than his goddess. 

Summer was angry and laughed, “If I say Sanford got the bruises because of Joan, will you believe me?” 

Just as Summer thought, Alick frowned at once, just like the reaction when Joan framed her in the past few 

years. 

“Sanford, tell me, who did it?” 

Sanford felt Summer’s dissatisfaction with Alick. Sanford turned his head and stared at Alick with red eyes. “That ugly woman made me stumble and fall!” 

Seeing that Alick was still unwilling to believe it, Summer said, “Mr. Hill, I know there are surveillance cameras in the villa. You can check what happened at the door of the study on the second floor at one o’clock this afternoon and see if Sanford is lying.” 

Unwilling to stay downstairs, Sanford broke free from Summer’s arms and ran back to his bedroom. 

“Alick, if I didn’t find out today, I don’t know how long Sanford would be treated so badly. He is also your son.
