" Wake up sleepyhead!" Rose yelled opening the door of my room.

" What the hell Rose?!, It's not even 6am yet why are you up?!, You know what don't bother answering, I'm going back to sleep."

" Get your lazy ass out of bed!, We have about 20 minutes till training starts." She said pulling the blanket off my body and I groaned.

I groggily stood up from the bed and picked my training clothes. I didn't bother showering since we were going to have to shower after training.

We got to the training area right on time and we joined the line of students.

" 6 laps around the field!, Go!" A really tall and muscular man yelled at us and we started jogging.

" Who's that?" I asked Rose as she caught up to me.

" Coach Ryan. He's the main coach for the royal floor and the strictest in the entire school."

" Wow!"

" He went to college with your parents, he might go easy on you." She said and I shrugged.

We finished the laps with Rose out of breath but I was indifferent. I ran track at my old highschool and I always won. It's one of the things that made them hate me less.

We did some warm-ups then coach paired us up for track. I was paired with a guy named Caleb Jones.

" Yikes!, Coach is definitely not going easy on you."

" What makes you say that?" I asked curiously.

" Caleb Jones is the fastest runner in the entire school!"

" Wow!"

" Wow!, is right. You definitely don't stand a chance against him."

" I can take him." I replied defensively.

" Iris he's a freaking Cheetah!, You don't know your animal yet!"

" Wait so, you guys run in your animal form?"

" Well yeah. This isn't regular highschool."

" Great!, I'm going to make a fool of myself on my first day."

" It's gonna be fine." Rose said patting me on my shoulder. Coach Ryan called her name and she walked over.

Caleb and I were the last runners so I had the opportunity of watching the others run. And it was a pretty crazy sight. Different animals large and small competing against each other. Rose was paired with another lion and she won her race.

" Jones and the newbie!, You're up next." Coach yelled and Caleb and I took our position at the starting line.

You can do this Iris. Just breathe.

" On your mark, get set, go!"

And we were off!

My calves aches and my chest burnt but I kept pushing myself. Caleb shifted into his animal halfway and was in the lead.I cleared my head and pushed myself to my limits, and I didn't stop running till I crossed the finish line.

I fell to the ground panting heavily trying really hard to regain my breath.

" Dude!" Rosa exclaimed jogging over to me handing me a water bottle which I took greedily from her.

After large gulps of water I finally noticed the looks on people's faces and turned to Rose.

" What?"

" You beat him!, You beat Caleb!, You beat a freaking Cheetah!"

" 14.50 seconds!, That's a new school record!" Coach exclaimed.

" Damn girl!, You took after your mama!" Rose exclaimed.

" You broke Caleb's record. No!, You shattered Caleb's record!, You didn't even shift. A Leopard's blood runs in your veins girl!"

" Gonzalez come here." Coach hollered and I walked over to him trying to ignore the stares I was getting.

" How did you do that?!"

" I honestly have no idea sir." I replied.

" Gonzalez I paired you with Jones because I wanted to test your speed. It was just a simple test to see if your speed is within the range of your mother's animal. But you are way faster!" Coach exclaimed and I smiled politely.

" It's very likely that your animal falls in the range of the wild cat family." He explained and I nodded.

" Everyone weapons now." He yelled and the rest of the students picked their various weapons and started training.

" Come with me." He said and I followed him towards a wall that held various weapons.

" Every student with guidance from their animal, gets to choose one weapon which they are trained to use. But, it is not uncommon for parents to pass on their weapons to their children. Although it takes more time to learn how to effectively wield two weapons, it's worth it." He said then he brought out a beautiful black leather satchel.

" This was your grandmother's. It was her first ever satchel and she wanted you to have it. She gave it to me before she died."

The satchel was held together by a golden clasp at the side. I pushed the clasp and it spread out right in front of me. The satchel contained lots of small weapon. Shurikens, small daggers, darts, and even tranquilizers. But in the middle compartment sat a beautiful golden dagger.

It had scratches along the blade from years of use but it made it even more beautiful.

" That is your second weapon, now it is time for you to pick your main weapon." He said and I looked at all the weapons on the wall.

There were tons of them ranging from swords to whips and spears but one weapon in particular caught my eye.

The bow and arrow.

The bow itself was black and sleek with gold details and next to it hung a similar black quiver filled with black arrows.

" The bow and arrow. Nice choice. This weapon requires precision and accuracy.". Coach Ryan said bringing it down from the wall and handing it over to me. I slung the quiver across my arm and picked the satchel.

" Sir, I have a question."

" What is it Iris?"

" Why aren't there guns?" I asked and he laughed.

" A supernatural that fights with guns is not honourable." He replied and I nodded. He led me towards the archery range where a bunch of students were. A girl was there shooting and she scored every single bullseye.

" That is Clarissa Donovan. She's our best archer. She holds the school's record of 15 bullseye in 50 seconds." He explained and I listened attentively.

" Why don't you give it a shot?"

" Sir I couldn't possibly-"

" Clarissa, vacate the area. Iris wants to give it a go."

Seeing that I had no other choice, I handed the satchel over to him and sighed. He showed me how to grip my bow, the proper stance for shooting, how to turn my body towards the next target without wasting time and also how to reach for my arrows easily and quickly.

" Ready?" He asked and I nodded.

" Go!"

I shot arrow after arrow following the tips coach had given me and stopped when he yelled stop. I wiped the sweat of my brows and looked over at coach who was staring at me.

" 25 bullseye in 50 seconds new school record." He said. I turned towards the targets in shock. There was no way I had gotten 25 bullseye on my first trial.

But it turns out I did, my arrows had pierced right through Clarissa's.

Everyone was pointing and whispering at me and I just gulped.

" That's the second school record she has broken today!"

" Who is she?"

I stood there akwardly not knowing what to do when I saw Rose approach me.

" Dude!, That was so awesome. You were like Katniss Everdeen in Hunger games!, Where did you learn to shoot like that?!"

" I don't know, that was my first time."

" Greatness runs in your veins!" Rose stated holding my face and looking me in the eyes.

" Thank you?!"

" I don't know what to say Gonzalez. But I think your speed, precision and accuracy have something to do with your animal." Coach admitted.

" Good job kid."

" Thank you sir."

" Did coach just compliment you?, Looks like somebody is already a teacher's pet." Rose teased and I rolled my eyes.

" Iris wait!" A voice behind me yelled and I turned to see Caleb. He was a pretty cute guy with brown hair and eyes and a dimpled smile.

" Hey!" He greeted.

" I'm gonna go...stand over there." Rose said leaving me with Caleb.

Traitor!

" Hey!" I replied.

" Congratulations on your record."

" Yeah, thanks. And I'm sorry I broke yours."

" It was bound to happen. How did you run that fast?"

" I have no idea!, I don't even have an animal."

" Well, when you do let me know. Oh!, And welcome to Crest Hill High." He said before walking off to meet his friends.

" Somebody's got a crush on you!"

" Don't be silly Rose, he just came to congratulate me."

" Sureeee!" She replied sarcastically.

We walked towards the exit when I saw Clarissa.

" Clarissa, hey. I was kind of wondering if-, uhh, could you maybe give me archery lessons?!"

" Why would you need lessons from me?!, Cause according to everyone else you should be the one giving me lessons!" She yelled back before storming off.

" Just ignore her. She's just jealous and well, bitchy."

" Come on we have to shower, get dressed and before 8:00am." Rose said tugging me towards the dorms.
