Putting the phone down, Bobby quietly dashed to Nadia, making sure to make as little noise as possible by standing on his tiptoes. "Nadia, don't sleep now! Uncle Jay wants to take us to Mommy." Bobby nudged her softly with his hand just as she was about to doze off.

"Aw, alright then." Nadia visibly forced her eyes open, leaving her in a sleepy daze.

Satisfied with her reply, he scurried away to get her coat and aided the sleepy girl in putting it on, wrapping it around her body in a hurried and messy fashion.

Just as Bobby finished fastening the coat unto her petite form, the growl of a car engine from the driveway reached their ears.

"Let's go. Uncle Jay is here." The boy reached for Nadia's hand and gently pulled her along as they started to make their way out of the door and into the front yard.

"Wait!" the panicked voice of the maid called out from behind as she rushed to chase after Bobby and Nadia, "where are you two going?"

"It's okay. Uncle Jay came to pick us up for Mommy." Bobby gripped Nadia's hand tighter within his own and began to speed away from the woman until they were rushing out the front door. Taking notice of their attempt to escape, the maid swiftly followed after them.

She immediately came face to face with the man himself. "Don't worry about it. I'll drive them back here after a bit." Jay shut the door of his car with a slam and addressed her concern.

"Understood, Mr. Fang." The housemaid was well-aware of who Jay was, along with his connections to Charles. She promptly shut her mouth and dared not to interfere with the situation any further.

Had it been any other person who showed up to pick up the kids, she would've argued and stubbornly kept them inside.

She was sure she wouldn't know what to do with herself if any harm ever befell those two children.

"Uncle Jay, where's Mommy?" Nadia looked up at the man and spoke politely, shifting on her seat at the back of the car.

"You two, your daddy isn't home right now, okay? Take good care of your mommy. Listen, if you're not careful, mommy might be taken away by a bad man. What would you do, then?" Jay spoke in a serious, cautious manner despite the fact that he was merely bluffing.

Nadia could only respond by shuffling uncomfortably on her seat and her brows knitted in deep thought before she opened her mouth. "Uncle Jay, how could there be a bad man?"

"By 'bad man', you mean Ethan, right?" Bobby cut into the conversation, anger apparent in his voice as he pouted and looked out the window.

"No, that's not who I meant," Jay continued into the exchange, humoring the two kids.

"Then who is it?" Bobby's face turned from frustrated to wide-eyed, obviously curious at hearing the man's reply.

"Bobby, you're a smart kid, so why are you asking these silly questions all of a sudden? There are many bad men out there who like your mother-she's a gorgeous woman, after all. So remember this, you must follow your mommy whenever she leaves your house in the evening." Jay punctuated his statement with an impatient click of his tongue.

"But, what if something bad happens to my mommy during the day?" Nadia retorted with a concerned tone.

"Your mommy doesn't have the time to go on dates while she's at work during the day, understand?" Go on dates?

The kids never heard that term before. Nadia and Bobby exchanged confused glances with each other.

"But of course, you don't know what that means, do you? Just remember what I told you, keep an eye on your mommy tonight. You got that?" Jay's voice, which was a light bluffing tone at the start, had now turned to a stern warning force.

"Okay, Uncle Jay." Eyes turned downcast at the instruction they'd received, Nadia could only nod politely.

Bobby stayed silent and etched the word of advice in his heart as he once again turned to stare out the window for the rest of their trip.

It wasn't long before the three finally arrived at their destination-the private club.

"We're here. You two can head inside." With a sharp click, Jay opened the backseat door to lead Bobby and Nadia unto the entrance. He allowed them to walk hand -in-hand ahead of him as he trailed behind like their personal bodyguard.

The two children stepped into the hall with their fingers firmly intertwined.

"Whoa, there are so many people!" Nadia exclaimed, bright eyed and ever curious.

"Don't talk to strangers. Let's just hurry up and find Mommy already," Bobby softly berated his sister.

"Got it." The little girl nodded in agreement to his plan and cupped her hands around her mouth to raise her voice. "Mommy, where are you?"

Her sweet booming voice turned the heads of all the people surrounding her.

At the other corner of the wide hall, Angelina froze. 'What are the kids doing here?' she wondered in shock.

"Bobby, Nadia, why are you here?" The worried old woman, as soon as she collected her thoughts, rushed past the crowd at once to meet the pair.

"Grandma, do you know where Mommy is?" Bobby could only meet her eyes with a cold stare to punctuate his question.

"Your mommy is in the middle of something. Come with me instead. I have yummy snacks for the both of you." Angelina badly wanted to reach out and grab Bobby's hand to lead him to a chair where she hoped he would politely sit still. She inwardly put a hand to her forehead, stressed beyond belief at the thought of the children affecting what was currently going on between Nancy and Lyndon.

The elderly woman strongly wished that the connection between that woman and the man beside her would blossom into a budding relationship once the night reached its end.

Well, she deemed it be best for them to hurry up and get married as soon as possible, so that Nancy could finally stop being such a heavy bother to Charles.

"No, I want to see Mommy. Uncle Jay said that mommy was taken away by a bad man," Nadia firmly insisted, anxiety written all over her face.

"Jay?" Angelina clearly pictured the face of that man in her head, who paid no mind to his own business and yet showed up in the place of others to ruin their plans of happiness with his own hands. What exactly did he mean by that?

Wonder as she might, Angelina had no way of asking him directly anymore for that man had disappeared without a trace, as if he never came with the children to begin with.

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Li, but my children are coming to see me. I have to go." With a charming smile and graceful movements, Nancy set down her wine glass and rose from where she sat. "Wait, what? You're saying you have children?" Lyndon was visibly taken aback at hearing what the gorgeous woman he had spent the evening with had told him Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"That's right. I have a boy and a girl," Nancy explained as she began to point at Bobby and Nadia, respectively, across the room to where the two sat.

"Then why are you still going on blind dates? Did you plan on fooling me all this time?" With a scornful voice and a frustrated expression, the man began to accuse her of malicious deeds. Although he no longer had a full head of hair and a face that rivaled that of tasting a lemon, he was filthy richpockets filled to the brim with cash. He thought he finally found the woman of his dreams-a lady afte his own heart. But it turned out that was but a foolish desire. How could she say she was the mother of two?

He felt like his heart had been toyed with and his feelings were betrayed by the wretched seductress.

"Why are you scolding my mommy?" Lyndon failed to notice that one of her children, the young boy, had strode over while he was drowning in his negative thoughts and started to snap at him,

"I scolded your mommy because she shouldn't have come here." Struggling to seem patient to the child, the rich man tried his hardest to feign patience with a soft voice paired with a slow tempo. "Are you the owner of this place?" Nadia interjected as she trailed behind her big brother.

"No, this isn't mine," Lyndon forcibly plastered a grin on his face.

"Then why are you forbidding mommy to come here?" Bobby's voice escalated into an aggressive tone.

"I I mean..." That certainly shut Lyndon up. The two kids' questions were straight to the point and it left no space for him to explain nor to even come up with an excuse. He could only sigh, "Your mommy already has two children. That means she can't attend blind dates anymore."

"Then why can my grandma come here, but my mommy can't?" Bobby showed no signs of backing down and continued throwing question after question.

Lyndon had enough of this woman's meddling kids with their nonstop questions. He heaved a deep sigh and clicked his tongue in annoyance, deciding that this would be his final reply. "Okay, fine, you can all come here. But I'll leave, are you happy now?"

He ended the sentence with an irked turn of his heel and a push to the opposite direction. Within moments, he was gone.

The two children watched the obnoxious man slowly shrink and melt into the crowd. Bobby and Nadia exchanged gleeful giggles and victorious grins as they carried the honor of keeping watch of their mommy like how Uncle Jay told them to.

"Mommy, we did it! We drove that bad man away." Bobby puffed his chest with pride.

"Mommy, aren't we great?" Nadia enthusiastically pulled unto the side of her mother's dress, tilting her head as if to emphasize her question and patiently waited for the sweet praises.

"Yep, you guys were awesome! But can you please tell mommy how you got here?" Patting both their heads and softly ruffling their hair, Nancy looked unto her kids with a kind and loving smile. "Uncle Jay brought us here." In a hope to point at her uncle to answer the question further, Nadia looked over her shoulder to where Jay was when they had entered the hall only to find that he wasn't there anymore, "Where did he go?" "It seems he left already," added Bobby, whose eyes already scanned the room to look fortheir missing uncle.

"Well, it's alright. If he's gone then Mommy will drive you home." Nancy flashed an assuring grin to the worried pair and gently took one child's hand into each of her own as a sign of comfort. "Nancy, don't listen to the kids. I'm sure there are other young men here that are interested in you. Just stay for a little longer," Angelina interrupted the soft motherchildren conversation with a hushed suggestion. Just moments ago, Lyndon and Nancy were having the time of their lives basking in each other's presence before these two meddling kids arrived just in time to shatter their wonderful moment. She swore they came for the sole purpose of ruining all her plans!

"Mom, the kids are here. We should just call it a night," Nancy retorted with a smile that glowed patience.

There was nothing Angelina could do as she was faced with such expression except a heavy sigh of defeat. "Well, I'll just invite you some other time, then."

"No way!" Bobby hastily piped up from between the two women.

"Fine with me, you brat. Let's head home, then." Reaching a hand to her forehead in response to the throbbing headache she'd gained from the past half hour of having to deal with ruined events, the elderly woman has accepted that she had no other choice but to compromise to the children's wishes for now.

The drive home had been swift and comparably quieter to the car ride Bobby and Nadia took to the private club-which was understandable, as it wasn't Uncle Jay who drove the car but their Mommy instead.

Just as they had gotten out of the car, Bobby made a beeline towards the phone, excited to recount all the events that had taken place to Charles. What he looked forward to the most was telling the man over the line how he and Nadia had valiantly protected their mother from bad men and taken her home safe and sound.
