Mark arranged for Shela to be in the hospital and then went off to tap his connections to cook up a fake pregnancy test report.
Meanwhile, Vidonia sneaked into the hospital’s paternity test lab.
Seizing the moment during a shift change, Vidonia hunched, sifted through the test tubes, and found the one labeled with
Letitia’s name.
She pocketed it in a blink, replacing it with a new test tube.
Mission accomplished!
“Easy-peasy. Can’t believe Letitia would have been so worried, Vidonia muttered under her breath, “She’s too single-minded and honest. To deal with these weasels, you gotta play dirty!”
She headed out, glanced to ensure the coast was clear, and ran out quickly, slipping into the corridor. Everything went off without
a hitch!
“How did it go? Did you get it?” Letitia asked eagerly from inside the car parked by the curb
Vidonia pulled out the test tube and gave it a shake “Of course!”
“You’re amazing!”
“It’s no biggie. Without this thing, let’s see how Phedra can carry out the test.” Vidonia snapped the tube in half with her bare hands and tossed it into a trash can with flair. “Let’s roll! It’s time for some late-night grub. I don’t wanna starve my godson!”
Letitia hugged her with joy
Once their car was out of sight, Phedra emerged from the cover of a streetlight.
“Huh, I knew you’d pull a stunt like this” She was smug. Too bad, Letitia. I was way ahead of you! The more you dread the test, the more it proves this child is of unknown origin! It’s not Elgin’s!”
Phedra opened her palm to reveal the real test tube needed for the test. She still had it!

On the open-air balcony of Ivory Towers, the lights shone brightly.
Elgin was still engrossed in business talk with Samson, who had stopped counting how many yawns he’d managed to hold back

Swiftly, Samson dialed Letitia’s number.
She picked up quickly, her voice soft and tender “Hello, Mr. Stewart.”
Elgin’s expression instantly soured. Was she always this gentle and soft-spoken with others?

“I’m having a late-night snack with Vidonia. I’ll head home soon.”
Trying to hide his amusement, Samson said in earnest. “Okay. Here’s the thing. Your husband got drunk at my place. Can you come pick him up?
“Drunk again?” Letitia thought for a moment. “Mr. Stewart, I think you can let him sleep over at your place.”
What had gotten into Elgin these days? He had constantly got hammered.
Was he that troubled? He was always the one troubling others.
Samson nearly choked. “Ah, two grown men sleeping in the same room? Isn’t that a bit off?”
“You have more than one bedroom.”
Samson coughed awkwardly before saying, “Well, Gin got hurt throwing a drunk tantrum. We need to take him to the hospital now. It’s serious! He nearly disfigured!”
“Mr. Stewart, you don’t sound too concerned. Instead of calling an ambulance, you called me first. It seems like it’s not that bad.”

“And he has Ranen, bodyguards, and a housekeeper, all on call 24/7
Before Samson could say more, Elgin snatched the phone and hung up!
“Women can be damn ruthless when they want to be, Samson patted his shoulder. “Keep cool. Anyway, you don’t love her.”

After hanging up, Letitia wondered if she should inquire about Elgin’s injury. But she was afraid of meddling Elgin didn’t need her by the side.
When Letitia returned home, it was past midnight.
She carefully pushed open the bedroom door, tiptoeing in, afraid to wake Elgin.
She didn’t dare turn on the light, fumbling her way in the dark

She had barely taken a couple of steps when she burriped into a chest, which scared the hell out of her, and she let out a shriek,
“Ah!
Look who’s back?” came Elgin’s low voice.
- I didn’t want to come back. Will you let me go? I swear I’ll never show my face around you again in my lifetime.”
Right after Letitia’s words ended, there was a loud “snap as Elgin switched on the light.
The sudden brightness was so blinding that Letitia had to shield her eyes with her hand.
After having barbecued mutton with Vidonia, she was reeking of the stuff. Elgin scoffed. “Did you have fun?”
“I just had dinner with Vidonia. That’s all.”
“Cut the crap fooling around with her.”
Letitia pouted, retorting, “She’s my friend. What do you mean fooling around”..”
