The creaking of the iron bars that closed behind her stiffened Angelina’s body for a moment. Her heart raced when she found that Ramaik stared at her intensely.

“D-Doctor Reiner, i-isn’t it necessary to sedate him first?” squeaked Angelina. The fingers of her right hand holding the syringe trembled violently with fear. “W-what if he suddenly attacks me?”

They were in a cage without any borders to separate them. Even though Angelina loved animals and had no problem with humans, the animal half-human in front of her was very apt to be classified as a dangerous living being. They should use the standard procedure to handle him.

“Unfortunately, Doctor, we can not mix the vitamin with anesthetic.”

Doctor Reiner’s answer failed to help Angelina move her legs. She stammered as she continued to protest the insane actions of her superiors. “B-but…”

Doctor Reiner rose to his feet. The man walked over to the bars and exclaimed. “Ramaik, listen! Doctor Angelina is going to inject good medicine for you. She will never come anymore if you touch her. Understand?”

Angelina’s pupils dilated when she saw the unexpected reaction shown by Ramaik. The creature moved in anxiety before looking down, breaking eye contact with her.

So cute.

Angelina stopped trembling. She no longer felt afraid of the figure that looked so docile. He was more like a helpless, innocent boy than a genetically engineered creature.

Angelina decided to kneel and call out to her patient in a soft tone. “Ramaik, come here.”

Ramaik raised his head. He stared at her face before his gaze shifted to the syringe in Angelina’s hand.

A flash of hatred emerged in Ramaik’s eyes. He tried to inch back even though he was already against the wall.

Angelina’s heart pounded as she witnessed her helpless patient’s reaction. However, she found herself with no other option. Paul’s life was hanging in the balance.

Angelina summoned a smile, extending her hand towards Ramaik.

“Rest assured, everything will be fine.”

However, things were far from okay.

The creature remained rooted in his spot, displaying his mistrust toward her words by continuously stealing furtive glances at the syringe.

Ramaik’s action prompted Angelina to discreetly conceal the syringe behind her back to prevent him from growing anxious.

“Ramaik, come over here,” she whispered gently. A tingling sensation in her legs prompted Angelina to adjust her position and use her hands for support.

Ramaik acted restless as he observed Angelina’s pained expression. He took a tentative step forward.

“Ramaik, Come here! Now!” screeched Angelina at last after the creature moved back and forth for the millionth time.

Magically, the look of doubt on Ramaik’s face vanished as he smiled, showing a childish expression that caused Angelina to hold her breath.

Angelina could hear stifled laughter from outside the cell, and her ears grew warm as those nasty people treated her as a party clown.

Ramaik rose to his feet and walked, but not to Angelina, instead to the mattress between them and sat on it. The creature turned to the woman and patted the bed, beckoning the doctor to come closer.

“He is asking you to climb into his bed.”

Doctor Reiner’s comment caused a burst of laughter from the male audience. Angelina’s heart filled with anger as she experienced the distress of being treated like a victim of harassment.

She stood up and shook out her coat as she glared at Ramaik. “I’m not going there! You come here!”

Ramaik slanted his head before sighing, but instead of approaching Angelina, he laid down using his bent arms as a cushion.

Doesn’t he know that they are watching us?!

“Hey! Come here!” snapped Angelina in annoyance. Her authority was at stake in front of the insane humans. They were watching with interest.

Unfortunately, Ramaik had his back on the audience and didn’t seem to respond to Angelina’s yelling. Angelina gritted her teeth when he completely ignored her order. She rushed over to her patient and intended to inject his ass.

She stopped right by the yawning Ramaik. The woman leaned back while holding the syringe in her left hand.

“You’re troublesome,” she grumbled when a gleeful gleam appeared in the creature’s eyes.

“Stop laughing.” Angelina glared. Her right palm moved towards Ramaik before she ordered. “Give me your arm.”

It successfully stiffened Ramaik’s body as the look in his eyes hardened. The creature’s face contorted in displeasure.

Darn. Angelina cursed inwardly. The feeling of guilt made her upset and lowered her tone of voice. “Ramaik, it’s okay. I promise there won’t be anything bad.”

A real lie.

However, Ramaik seemed to be moved by that statement, either because of the tone of voice or the desperate expression shown by Angelina. He finally sat down cross-legged and extended his left hand.

Relief flooded Angelina’s heart. She did not waste the granted permission obtained.

Angelina knelt and put away the syringe to take a wet gauze from the coat pocket. She touched Ramaik’s hand to find the injection point. The bundle of muscles that wrapped the bones of Ramaik’s arm felt tough. Suddenly, she felt a warm breath.

Angelina looked up. Her eyes widened when she realized that her patient had leaned over so that their faces were too close. She released her grip before staggering backward and squealing in panic. “Ramaik! Stop!”

Ramaik’s head lowered with a sigh. However, the creature complied by backing away.

“Your interactions are interesting.” Doctor Reiner’s joyful comment did not make Angelina feel any better.

The woman glared at Ramaik as she said curtly. “Stop doing anything but breathing, okay?!”

Ramaik thinned his lips; however, he complied by sitting still. After observing her patient’s behavior, Angelina approached him again. She cleaned Ramaik’s skin with alcohol before injecting the medicine.

Ramaik let out a groan of pain as the medicine flowed into his blood. Without wasting time, Angelina covered the wound with a band-aid.

“It’s done.” Comforted Angelina while trying to smile soothingly.

Ramaik massaged his arm with a displeased face. His eyes followed Angelina as she got up and carried her things.

The cell door opened. Angelina rushed out. She had just turned to look back when a roar sounded inside the locked cage.

Ramaik twitched on the mattress as he changed forms. The creature was squeezing his arm and seemed in a lot of pain.

“Good,” said Doctor Reiner as he rubbed his hands together with his eyes sparkling with excitement. “The effect is much faster than before.”

“What’s going on? What’s wrong with him?!”

Angelina exclaimed with wide eyes. The effects of Carisoprodol were not like that!

“Ah, it’s a normal reaction. Take it easy,” Doctor Reiner mentioned with a grin. “A few minutes before seven, we’ll have to up the dosage for the match.”

“What dosage?” Angelina’s eyes met her superior’s cold gaze. Her heart raced due to fear.

Ramaik rolled while struggling before he returned to his original form while panting heavily. His fangs shrunk as he covered his face with trembling hands.

“What dosage?! Answer me!” screamed Angelina frantically. The effects of the drug she injected into Ramaik were far more terrifying than she had imagined.

“The drug, of course,” Doctor Reiner chuckled. “It was just a warm-up.”

Angelina lifted her hand. She almost slapped Doctor Reiner’s cheek if one of the bodyguards did not push the woman to the ground.

Not long after, she heard an angry roar, followed by the violent clanking of the bars. Ramaik stretched his arm out and attempted to claw the bodyguard that hurt Angelina. Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain since that man was out of reach.

“Interesting, very interesting.” Doctor Reiner’s eyes lit up. He was like a child watching a game.

Ramaik kept slamming his body against the bars and raging while Angelina rose to her feet. She held back her tears because her backside was hurting from the fall.

“This is intolerable!” shouted Angelina. “What you’re doing is illegal! I will report this to the authorities!”

“Ah, wrong decision,” replied Doctor Reiner with a grin. He grabbed a cell phone from his pocket and pressed the call button. “Paul is going to get into trouble because of your insolence.”

Angelina’s heart skipped a beat when she saw his cell phone waiting for the line to connect. That crazy man was going to kill Paul.

“Stop!” screamed Angelina in terror. “Don’t.”

“What?” Doctor Reiner lowered his cell phone from his ear. He then gave a psychopathic grin. “Is this an apology?”

Angelina trembled. The woman swallowed her saliva before she whispered. “S-sorry.”

“I can’t hear-”

“I’m sorry!” shouted Angelina. Her face flushed from holding back her emotions. “I apologize for my actions! Please, don’t hurt Paul!”

The two male bodyguards showed blank expressions as Nixon looked away when Angelina sacrificed her pride to protect Paul’s life. Angelina was shrouded in loneliness at that moment. She felt scared, ashamed, angry, humiliated, and helpless.

The roar and impact of Inyiak’s body against the bars continued to enter Angelina’s hearing. Yet, the woman had no intention of turning her head. She stared at the man before her as her sweaty hand shook. “I beg you… forgive me…”

Doctor Reiner was silent for a few moments. He studied Angelina’s expression before letting out a long sigh. “Doctor Angelina, I don’t want to threaten you. However, this organization is prioritizing professionalism. I hope this is the last time.”

She looked down with her gaze directed at the floor. Her trembling fingers clenched into tight fists as she tried to deafen her ears. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I must prioritize Paul’s safety even if I must sacrifice Ramaik.

Another collision was made by Ramaik when Doctor Reiner ordered, “Stun him.”

Angelina lifted her head. Her eyes flashed in horror as the two bodyguards pulled out stun guns to tame the resisting Ramaik.

Ramaik let out an ear-piercing roar as the electricity touched his skin. The creature continued to claw with both hands outstretched between the iron bars while his yellow eyes radiated madness.

Angelina froze in place and pursed her lips as tightly as she could. She must not fight back. Paul would be in danger.

The other guards attacked Ramaik from different positions while the creature rampaged. Angelina trembled even more intensely as she heard the frustrated roar repeatedly.

However, as the seconds passed, Angelina could no longer stop herself from shouting, “Stop! I beg you, stop!”

Ramaik fell at the last attack. The tiger-man stared at the ceiling with enlarged eyes.

His body stiffened. A pair of the creature’s legs and arms bent from the electrical effects he had received. Angelina ran and squatted on the side of the bars with tears in her eyes.

“You don’t have to do this…” Angelina’s voice trembled. “You don’t have to do–”

“He’s fine. Stop being sentimental.”

Doctor Reiner’s words silenced Angelina. The man’s gaze was icy cold, not looking sympathetic at all.

Is he not human?

“Come on. I still have other business.” Doctor Reiner broke their eye contact. The man turned around, escorted by his two bodyguards. Nixon was about to take a step toward Angelina. However, within seconds, he decided to follow him out.

Angelina had no intention of getting up. She looked back at Ramaik. He was still lying on the floor with his legs bent abnormally.

The woman wept softly. “Sorry, I’m sorry…”

“You fool…”

Angelina heard Fonda whisper. She had forgotten that her partner had been there all along.

Angelina looked over her shoulder and found Fonda standing with her arms crossed. The woman’s gaze was not as cynical as usual. Instead, she seemed as if she was sympathizing with a beggar.

Angelina rose to her feet while wiping her wet eyes with the hem of her coat. She looked back at Fonda and asked in a nasal voice. “D-do you have no conscience? You’re acting like demons!”

However, instead of being offended, a slight smile formed on her face. She thought for a moment before muttering, “Demons, yes… I guess you’re right. It means, Welcome to hell.”
