Angelina swiftly snipped and removed the sheets from the nearby bed using scissors. Slipping on her gloves, she applied pressure to the still-bleeding wound. “Mr. Nixon, cleanse your hands and don the gloves – now!”

Nixon’s face contorted into a scowl, reluctantly complying with Angelina’s instruction. Grumbling under his breath, he followed suit.

“Apply pressure here, just like this, while I conduct my examination.” Angelina directed Nixon’s attention to the area between the wound and the heart. With Nixon taking her place, she grabbed a pillow and positioned it under Ramaik’s legs, elevating them to 30 centimeters above his head.

As Angelina assessed Ramaik’s condition, she gently tucked his hair behind his ears. The blood that stained his fur was dark, indicative of arterial bleeding. His complexion appeared pallid, devoid of any discernible bumps. There were no signs of bleeding from his eyes, nose, or mouth. It seemed Ramaik had effectively shielded his head.

Despite this, Ramaik’s eyelids remained shut. Before attempting to rouse him, Angelina conducted a Glasgow Coma Scale evaluation. Only then did she address the unconscious being.

“Ramaik, this is Doctor Angelina. Can you hear my voice?”

Her words hung in the air, unanswered.

Angelina pinched the creature’s cheek hard and made Ramaik let out a low growl as his eyes opened slowly.

Angelina took and turned on the flashlight to examine. The creature’s predatory eyes were unfocused but still reacted to light.

“GCS 2-3-3.”

Angelina muttered quietly before biting her lip. Ramaik’s condition was very worrying. The creature had almost entered the coma phase.

“Status emergency severe,” Angelina muttered to herself. She set a stopwatch before reaching out and gripping Ramaik’s wrist to check her patient’s pulse.

“Doctor, it would be wise for you to sedate him first.”

“Later, after the examination. Ramaik seems to be in hypovolemic shock,” argued Angelina as she ducked down to observe the creature’s labored breathing. Ramaik’s eyes were closed again. There was no sign of aggression.

“It’s up to you, Doctor.” Nixon was too lazy to argue. The man suppressed the wound while yawning widely. “I’ll ask for overtime payment.”

Angelina ignored her bodyguard’s complaints. She continued her examination while muttering to herself. “Breathing 20 per minute, heart rate 80 per minute.”

There was a moment of silence as the woman used a thermometer and said, “Temperature 35 degrees Celsius.”

Angelina then took the tensimeter and put it on Ramaik’s right arm. His blood pressure dropped. His temperature dropped. His heartbeat was fast but weak.

“Doctor, the cloth is soaked with blood. It’s disgusting. I think it’s time to change it,”

Nixon frowned as he complained. “I think I’m going to throw up any minute now.”

“Stop!” Angelina prevented the big man from moving. “I’ll get a towel. Don’t release the pressure! We’re going to do surgery! Where’s the X-ray machine? We need to check-”

“Doctor, they won’t let you use that machine,” Nixon cut her words. “They don’t want you to know the inside of this cat’s body.”

So, no X-Ray?

Angelina gulped down. She had to ignore the risk of broken bones.

“Doctor, can you get the towel right away? My hands are starting to feel sticky.” Nixon ignored the woman’s anxiety. “I have to take a shower after this.”

What an attitude, Angelina grumbled as she walked towards the bathroom. She had to set up IVs to prevent dehydration, sedate the patient, inject drugs to stabilize the heart rate, and surgical equipment. Yet, the big, stupid man complained more than she did. Very ethical and praiseworthy.

Angelina bandaged the surgical scars with her remaining strength. Ramaik’s body was heavy as Nixon skillfully did the minimum to help her.

The bleeding had stopped after Angelina stitched up the internal and external wounds.

The anesthetic and IV fluids entered Ramaik’s bloodstream before he transformed into a human form.

Angelina took off her blood-stained gloves and inserted them into the plastic. She checked the IV hanging from the wheeled IV pole brought in as she sighed in relief.

Although Ramaik’s body now looked more like a mummy than a tiger beast, she was still grateful. Ramaik had less internal bleeding than external wounds.

Nixon shamelessly decided to clean up even when Angelina hadn’t finished checking her patient’s condition.

The cage door stood wide open. Angelina took out the medical waste and dirty clothes. She wrote a report on the patient’s condition and sterilized the equipment. Afterward, she picked up two clean sheets from the shelf and returned to Ramaik, who was breathing calmly.

Angelina made the bed and covered her patient with sheets. When Nixon came out smelling clean, she looked at him and said, “Mr. Nixon, come help me put him on the bed.”

Nixon’s right eyebrow shot up. “Doctor, I just took a shower.”

“And I’d love to rest,” Angelina replied with an exasperated look. “Do it, now!”

“I feel that you are becoming more and more controlling,” Nixon complained as he walked over. “We should just leave him there.”

“Now, Mr. Nixon!”

The man let out a long breath. He squatted down and obeyed Angelina’s order with an unwilling face.

Angelina rose to her feet and breathed heavily. It was inappropriate for her to help lift the patient. There are usually four other men helping, not just one big, empty-brained man who likes to complain.

An organization full of mentally ill people.

Angelina observed her patient with compassion. The woman’s eyes unconsciously began to fog up. How long did he have to go through this?

“Doctor.” Nixon’s firm voice made Angelina turn her head. The man shook his head slightly and then continued his words. “He’s just an experimental subject, a fighting animal. Don’t mix up your feelings.”

Angelina felt silent when she saw Nixon’s expression. The woman clenched her fists as her conscience struggled to accept. However, she was too tired to argue.

“Your job is done.” Nixon walked to the door. “Come on, let’s go to our room to rest.”

However, Angelina wasted a few minutes observing Ramaik’s now-steady chest movements before finally following Nixon out of the cage.

The big man locked the cage door. Then they walked side by side, although Angelina still looked back until the artificial wall closed and cut off the view. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

The roar of the Liger, because they disturbed its sleep, entered Angelina’s hearing. However, the woman was in no mood to turn her head and preferred to look down with her mind occupied by her patient’s condition.

Ramaik, it would take three months for him to recover as before.

“Doctor…”

Angelina’s reverie was interrupted. The woman raised her face and looked at Nixon with a questioning look.

The big man grinned widely and asked in an enthusiastic tone.

“Would you be willing to go out with me tomorrow afternoon? There’s a new menu in the cafeteria.”

Angelina’s expression turned sour. She raised her left hand, exposing the glimmering around her wedding ring. “Sorry, I’m married.”

“Too bad…” Nixon chuckled before sighing while Angelina refrained from rolling her eyes.

How unsympathetic, she grumbled in exasperation. The place looked deserted. Doctor Erick seemed to be spending his work time in the autopsy room. Who knows what he was doing there?

A wall clock showed three o’clock in the morning.

They had indeed spent quite some time in Ramaik’s cage.

The two of them got into the elevator before Nixon asked again guilelessly. “Doctor, how about a meal for two tomorrow afternoon? Black pepper steak with boiled potatoes? My treat.”

He showed his neatly arranged teeth as Angelina glared at him wordlessly.
