The Alpha King’s Heart: His Rejected Mate (The Alpha King Series Book 1)
The Alpha King’s Heart: His Rejected Mate: Chapter 25

The next day, my eyes fluttered open when I heard growls. I tightened my robe as I got on the balcony and leaned over to see what was going on down there.

It was Azriel’s wolf. He was lying on his belly, rolling on the ground, and looking like he was having the time of his life. The wolf sensed me immediately and sat up, curiously looking at me. His neck tilted a bit and I mimicked his actions, he turned around and I did too. I was too bored with my life clearly, so here I was frustrating the poor predator. He started barking and growling at me and I did the same, my stance threatening as his.

‘Wolf!’ I heard Azriel call. ‘ What are you-‘ He stopped his sentence as his eyes met mine on the balcony. He visibly swallowed and nodded his head once before crouching down to pet wolf.

‘Why do you have a wolf? You’re a werewolf,’ I said.

‘I found him in the forest when he was a pup, I think he lost his pack and I decided to take him in,’ he said gently.

‘What’s his name?’

‘Wolf,’

‘Why? He’s already a wolf. Couldn’t give him something else?’

‘It’s the first thing I thought of,’ he shrugged, standing up. He looked like he was ready to go jog or something.

‘Can I come running too?’ I asked, and he stared at me. He seemed to be in deep thought before he nodded. I squealed and rushed to my closet, putting on my leggings and sports bra. I swore my running shoes. I went first to Lucas’ room, waking him up.

‘I should find you ready for school when I come back,’

‘It’s still 5 am,’ he groaned.

‘You only have an hour!’

‘Get out!’ he roared. I ran down to meet Azriel outside. I stood in front of him, his gaze fell on my breasts for a second and I narrowed my gaze.

‘Shall we?’ he nodded and started our jog. We were running side by side through the back tarmac of the estate, indeed, the estate was huge and my chest was burning. I was breathing heavily and my legs wanted to give up but I pushed harder. Azriel didn’t even sweat once. He looked back at me and shook his head

‘C’mon, it has only been forty minutes!’ he said.

‘Can we walk and then start up again?’I asked, panting.

‘How are you a wolf with this kind of stamina,’ He asked. Even though my fighting skills weren’t bad, my stamina. I needed to start working out to build it up.

‘I don’t know, maybe I don’t exercise much,’

‘You don’t,’ he said and came back for me, his pace slowed and we started again. He directed me to a park where we exercised for a few minutes and went back home.

I was so hungry at this point and went straight to the kitchen for a snack. Lucas was having breakfast there. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

‘Morning, sleepy head,’ I said, taking his fruits to eat. I was surprised when Azriel sat with us, also asking the chef for something to eat.

‘Ready to suck again, kiddo?’ He asked and Lucas grimaced.

‘He cheated,’

‘What do you do at school?’ I asked. His gaze ran over me before he answered, why does he always do that?

‘He leads the senior’s physical education. He trains students to fight both in human and wolf form,’ Lucas was the one to answer me. Wyatt mentioned that his brother was a war general, and had gone on a mission.

‘Shouldn’t you be working at the palace?’

‘I should, and I go there sometimes but It’s boring and I’ll rather help out at the school,’

‘Is it true that you infiltrated the dark wolves’ ranks and killed their leader?’

‘It wasn’t the leader I killed. We got the wrong guy and now, the dark wolves are after me and anyone who was on my team… ‘ he answered nonchalantly.

‘So, you ran back home, shame,’ Luca chuckled.

‘I made a call as the leader and saved my men’s lives, we were discovered so I’m just biding my time,’ he said.

I drank my juice and stood up, ‘ I’ll take you to school and ask the principal if they can find me a spot there,’ I said, rushing upstairs to take a quick shower. I was ready in twenty minutes and went downstairs.

‘You want a job at the academy?’ A voice jolted me, it was smooth. Azriel was coming from the other wing.

‘Yes, I was thinking maybe there can be room for me there as a teacher or teacher’s assistance,’ I said.

‘Okay, but if there is nothing, you can help me train the young girls, they suck and my colleague eloped with his married lover, leaving me to handle those monsters with two of the laziest people on the gym team,’ he said bitterly and I almost chuckle.

‘I don’t know anything about training others, heck, I haven’t even shifted into my wolf form,’ I shrugged.

‘Why?’

‘Late bloomer, I will on the next full moon… I think,’ I said.

Luca and I entered the SUV, only because he was late otherwise we would walk.

Reaching the school, I went straight to human resource management.

Unfortunately for me, there was nothing available this term but maybe the next. I frowned, thinking that I have to accept Azriel’s offer. I waited for him in front of the school, and soon, he appeared. Looking good in his sweats and vast.

‘So, how much does the job pay?’ I asked.

‘I don’t know, the school doesn’t pay me,’ he shrugged.

‘I’m not working for free,’ I said.

‘5000 per month?’

I didn’t even question anything, it was alright.

‘Good!’ I extended my hand and he took it. His touch felt familiar to me and I stared at his hand. It was warm and nice.
