CHAPTER 14

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

BRINLEY.

The sunrise shone brightly through the window and into my eyes. I groaned, rolling over the ache between my legs, only a reminder that Thomas was even here and that what happened last night wasn't a dream.

A hiss of pain left my lips as my feet hit the ground. Then, I decided to soak in “No’ Hot water. I opened the door to the bathroom and began to fill the tub with water.

I wrapped a towel around my body and left the bathroom. I was happy to see clothes laid out on the bed for me. Katie probably did this for me, and Kyle did go back to the palace to get her. I quickly slip on my pantie and bra and then slip into my clothes.

I walked through the small hallway of the cabin. It wasn't fancy wooden walls and floors, but it was cozy. It had that home feeling to it. The old paintings hung on the walls, and a fluffy white area rug laid flat in the living room. The kitchen had new appliances and a kitchen bar.

I smiled to myself at the delicious smell of breakfast.

"That smells great,” I tell Katie as I sit down at one of the stools.

"Thanks. How are you feeling?" She asked as she put eggs on a plate. "Now that your heat is gone?" She adds.

I heaved a sigh of relief. Heat is the worst pain I'd ever felt.

"Better. Oh, and thanks for the heads up on how painful heat would be,”

Katie shrugs, "I tried to warn you. But you insisted on seeing him anyways," Katies says, pursing her lips, "Brinley, If you continue to see him, it will come back.” I nod, "I know."

I dig into my breakfast, not bothering to tell Katie how my heat left. Although I think she has some idea. But neither one of us mentioned it.

"We have to head back after breakfast. Kyle left so he could tell the King you were better,” She says, taking a bite of bacon

"Thanks for all you guys have done for me,"

"Brinley, we have each other's backs always.” I nod, "True,"

"So my parents are coming next week. Kyle and I can't wait to tell them about the baby," Katie says, smiling wide.

"What about his parents?”

Katie's smile falls, and her brows crease, "Kyle's mom died at birth, and his father died two years ago," Katie says, but her eyes say she is in deep thought.

“I'm sorry," I mutter.

Katie shrugged, forcing a smile, "It was a long time ago,” I nodded, not wanting to upset her further. "So, when I get a day off, we can go baby shopping?”

Katie smiles wide, showing her white teeth, "I'd love that.” I smiled back, "Me too,"

Four days later

When Katie and I returned to the palace, she met Kyle, and I returned to my duties. Julia was happy to see me as for Thomas. I haven't seen him since we slept together.

I went to the pond the night I got back, but he never showed, and I was too embarrassed to try again. So I have been pouring myself into work and hanging out with Julia.

Katie's parents are coming in three days. I have already made a list of foods and appetizers to serve at her little party. Julia and I prepared dinner for tonight. Julia felt sick and decided to lay down, and I cleaned up the mess.

I opened the door to mine and Julia's room, and my eyes went wide. Julia was hunched over a trash can throwing her guts up. I quickly rushed to her side.

"Julia, are you okay?" She nods, "You should see a doctor,” I tell her handing her a napkin for her mouth. She smiles and takes it.

"I have. I'm pregnant, Brinley," She cries. "Does Xander know?"

She narrows her eyes at me, "Xander isn't the only one I've slept with,” My mouth formed an "0".

"I haven't slept with Xander in a few weeks. I've been sleeping with Jerry a lot,” She mutters a line of curse words under her breath.

So Julia wasn't sure who the baby's father was, but she thought it belonged to Jerry.

"You said you didn't have a mate." She pursed her lips, "I do. But I love Xander, not my mate,” She cried. I rubbed her back, soothing her. "I'm sorry,” She sobs harder.

"So, are you going to tell Jerry?" Julia shakes her head.

"I'm going to tell Xander that I'm pregnant.” A frown makes its way to my face. "But the baby belongs to Jerry,” I tell her. She shrugs, "I don't care. I love Xander. He will never know it's not his.” I stay silent.

"I'm going to meet Thomas. Do you want to come?" Julia shakes her head, "No, I still feel awful.”

I slipped on Julia's bathing suit and left for the pond.

I felt terrible for Julia and even the Alpha king at this point.

The King is about to raise a child that belongs to another man, and he doesn't even know it. It's not my place to tell, but Julia should consider both men's feelings. Instead, she is selfish because she loves Xander so much. But that doesn't make what she's doing right.

I sat on the blanket overlooking the pond. The only sound was the waterfall pouring into the pond. I didn't know If Thomas would show up, I was hoping he would. I needed to give Julia some pace and time to clear her head. I can only hope she makes the right decision.

She would be a mother now, and she needs to do the right thing for the unborn child.

I stroll over to the pond and take a deep breath before jumping in.
