The Invitation

He kept my clit in his mouth as it pulsed with ecstasy and slowly pulled his fingers out bring me back down to Earth. I gave a satisfying hum as he helped me up when my hand landed on the envelope.

"What's this?" I said as I turned it over noticing the gold embossed lettering along the front.

"I don't know. It was on the door when I got here." He said taking it from me and opening it.

His eyes grew as his jaw dropped.

"What is it?" I said as I started to internally panic.

He handed it to me then ran his hand through my hair and began pacing the room.

"Holy shit! Is this for real?" I asked as I held the invitation carefully.

"Yes. I mean I never thought I would get invited to such a prestigious event. Wow!" He said as he stood their stunned.

"Well then I guess you better get your tux out and pressed. This party is tomorrow night." I said handing the invitation back to him and jumping down from the counter to find his shirt.

It was thrown on the floor so I grabbed it and slipped my hands through the holes as I slid it over my head. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to his chest.

"Will you be my date?"

I opened my mouth then closed it and said "Me? Are you sure you wouldn't want to invite someone a little more, presentable than me?"

He cocked his head to the side and squinted his eyes and said "Mila, you don't give yourself enough credit. You are an amazing woman and I would be honored to have you on my arm at that party. Please come with me?"

My mind was bursting with emotions and I had to replay his words over in my mind to make sure what he said was real. I whispered out "Yes." Still in awe that he thought about me in such a sweet way.

He placed a kiss on my forehead then pulled me close as he nuzzled into my neck inhaling deeply.

"But I don't have anything to wear!" I screamed out a little louder than I wanted to and pulled away from him.

"Get dressed." He said as he ran up the stairs.

I followed behind him as he slipped into the bathroom. He turned on the shower then stripped and I couldn't help but admire the muscles that were twitching as he moved around.

"Care to join me, little wild one?" He said as he placed his head under the stream letting the water drip down his chiseled chest.

I blushed and turned around walking out the bathroom. What was I supposed to be doing again? Oh yeah, I needed clothes but I didn't have any here. Crap, that means I had to go back to the condo and get some.

I rummaged through Tanner's closet and found an old flannel shirt. I grabbed it and made a few knots then threw my hair in messy bun. I slid on my pumps from last night just as Tanner was coming out the bathroom. His eyes darkened as he licked his lips.

"I could get used to you parading around in my clothes. They look so fucking good on you!"

"Thank you! It's all I could find since the clothes I came here in were destroyed." I sad with my hands on my hips. "Now bring me home so I can change!"

I walked out the room swaying my hips as he growled behind me. I smirked knowing I was driving him wild and continued down the stairs and out the house with him in tow.

I nervously rubbed my hands together in my lap on the way to the condo, not sure if Finn was back or not. I knew we needed to talk about this but I just couldn't get what he said out of my mind. How the hell could someone buy a 6 year old for a future mate? And why would my father sell me? I wanted to forget everything but the moment we drove up to the gate of the complex my hands became sweaty and my mouth went dry. Tanner looked over to me and grabbed my hand giving me a gently squeeze.

"What ever happened Mila, I'm here and I'm not going anywhere."

My heart sank at the thought and I hated keeping such a huge secret from him but this was my life and I couldn't change it. It's who I was born to be and I knew there wasn't a future for Tanner and I.

We pulled up and I noticed that Finn's Jeep in our parking spot. I unlocked the door and walked in with Tanner close by. Finn was in the kitchen on the phone when I heard him place it on the counter and walk into the living room.

"L..Mila! Where have you been?" He said as he rushed up to me.

Tanner growled and stepped in front of me daring Finn to take another step closer.

"Whatever happened between you two must have been pretty bad for her to come stay with me." He said as he tensed and puffed out his chest.

"This doesn't concern you, Alpha. Mila can we please talk. In private?" He said as he stared into Tanner's eyes.

"Whatever you have to say, you can say in front of me. She isn't going anywhere with you."

I stepped around Tanner and placed my hands on his shoulders then reached up and pulled his eyes to mine. "It's ok. Let me hear him out, please. Why don't you go have a seat outside and I'll come get you when we're done."

His eyes softened and his body realaxed before he pulled me into him and kissed my forehead. "I'll be right here if you need me." And with that he walked towards the patio glaring at Finn as he passed.

I watched as he stepped outside and closed the door before I turned to Finn and said "Why did Crane want me as his mate? And how the hell did he think that I would agree when I turned 18 after adopting me into his pack? And what did you have to do with all this?" I fired out question after question as he ran his hands through his hair.

He let out a sigh and said "He and your father had an agreement, before you were born, that on of the she-wolves from your pack would be betrothed to him. It wasn't until 10 years later that Crane got news that you father was being abusive to you and instead of accepting just anyone he wanted you. He wanted to take away your pain and he figured since you were the Alpha's daughter that you and his bloodline would be strong. But you ran away and we tried for years to find you with no luck. When he finally found you he asked me to get you back. But Li, I started having feelings for you and I couldn't bring you back."

"Ok but why me? Didn't he already have a mate?"

"She died after she was poisoned with silver."

My eyes widened and my heart hurt for Crane. I remember the look in his eyes when I asked if he had children of his own. He was so broken but to think that he could buy a child to be groomed as his mate was just sick.
