It was a 10-minute walk to his house but instead I was dropped next to an old shed by whoever was carrying me. Next he placed a leather collar, attached to a leash, around my neck. It was heavy and due to my lack of strength it basically held my head to the ground. I snarled and growled the closer anyone got to me but without being able to defend myself, the only thing I could do was bite and I doubt these morons would be that stupid as to get close enough to my head for that to happen. But I wouldn't go down this easy, I may be paralyzed and leashed to a tree but I still had a few tricks up my sleeve.

I laid there overnight until the feeling in my paws started to come back sometime around daylight. My legs tingled and my body was aching from the aftereffects of the medicine wearing off. Whatever it was had to be pretty strong for it to last in my system longer than 2 hours because normal medicine or toxins never usually did. I needed to shift back or my wolf would lose her strength being leashed for too long. Suddenly I felt my bones breaking and my naked body lie there shivering in the chilly air. I rubbed my extremities trying to get the blood circulating again.

I was finally starting to warm up when I heard footsteps behind me. I could feel my skin crawling and I knew it was him.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the world's worst assassin? I thought we had a deal, Li? So why are you here and the King is still alive?" He said with anger in his voice.

He walked around and stood in front of me. I could see how furious he was but I couldn't do what he asked me to, even if Tanner and I could never be together, killing your mate was like a slap in the face to the Moon Goddess herself and that was something I would never do. Despite the horrible childhood I had to endure, I would never disrespect her in any way.

I looked up at him "I'm sorry Julius but there were some unforeseeable circumstances that came up and I wasn't able to uphold my end of the deal.

I kept my arm tucked under me so he wouldn't see the tattoo, I had a feeling he would make it worse on me if he did. He walked around me with his finger on his chin, as if contemplating what to do with me. Part of me wanted to plead for my life or make a deal with him, like my life for his and the other part of me wanted to tell him to fuck off and rip his throat out, well actually that was my wolf's thoughts. She never had a good feeling about him and now I can see why, he seemed different than the first time I met him. That night in Romero's office he was almost nervous or concerned for the upcoming announcement but now, he just seemed annoyed or pissed off.

"You see Li, I asked you to do one simple job and you couldn't do it. I even gave you a the most perfect ammunition too. Did you really think those wolves were capable of all those infarctions?" He made the most evil laugh I had ever heard then kicked me hard in the ribs.

I barely flinched at his weak excuse of a kick then laughed when he grew angrier. He knelt down face to face with me and said through clenched teeth "I was told you were the best, that you annihilated everything in your path, so why couldn't you remove this one little nuisance?"

"That little nuisance just so happened to be the King and did nothing wrong. I don't know what you heard about me Julius but I don't kill innocent people. How could you lie about them like that?"

"Little wolf, you don't know what it's like being me. Always being second best, never getting the recognition I deserve. I made a name for myself but because I wasn't an ALPHA no one took me seriously. It wasn't until that pathetic excuse of a wolf, who was my partner, was killed that I became powerful. You know, I heard about that little stunt you pulled over in Oregon, the one where you blew up that building, you nearly ruined everything." He pulled me by my hair and dragged me to the side of the tree.

My scalp was burning and my wolf was itching to get out. Did I just hear him right? "What do you mean I almost ruined everything?"

"You really are stupider than I thought. Maybe I underestimated Alpha Baxter's daughter. I mean he did treat you like the pathetic animal you are, and yet you've grown soft. Tsk, tsk, Elise, I guess that's why he sold you off."

My eyes saw red at the mention of his name. He wasn't my father. He was just the pathetic piece of shit who was burdened with me from the day I was born. He almost cost me everything I worked so hard for and if it hadn't been for his murder, I wouldn't be standing here in front of you. Now, you are going to complete the job that I paid you to do and I will be there to watch it happen." He unhooked the chain from the tree and yanked hard pulling me towards a car that was waiting in the driveway.

I planted my heels in the ground trying to stop him from placing me into the car when a large man came up behind me and picked me up, injecting something into my arm, and threw me over his shoulder. He placed me into the car where I sank into the seat unable to move. I tried to scream but nothing was coming out of my mouth and soon my body felt so heavy that I was even finding it hard to breathe. Fuck, what was that?

We drove off and soon we were at the airport boarding a private plane. Julius had his men chain my arms and legs to the seat then placed a blanket over my body as they talked and laughed drinking whiskey and smoking cigars. My body was screaming in pain and my heart was beating so fast I didn't even know how it was still in my chest but I couldn't move let alone try to calm myself down. All at once I felt the crushing blow deep in my chest. This was it, I was being forced to go back to my mate, who didn't know I was his mate, and kill him in front of Julius.
