The smell of food had my mouth watering and my eyes opened immediately. I tried to sit up but due to our previous activities, it was hard. My entire body was sore, even placed I didn't know could become sore. I stretched cautiously then grabbed a shirt and placed it over my naked body. I walked out the bedroom and downstairs to the kitchen where I saw him standing in front of the stove. I leaned against the doorframe staring at my amazing mate. I dug in almost completely forgetting that the place was eerily quiet.

"Tanner, where is everyone?"

"After the battle, there was a lot of cleaning up to do and with my new title the entire place had to be revamped. So they have all been working around the territory for the last two weeks assuring everything is safe for the coronation. Plus I forbide them from coming back until you were fully recovered."

"Did you tell them about me?"

"They know I found my mate when I was announced." He said then went back to eating.

I knew he was hiding something else from me because he wouldn't look me in the eye.

"And?"

He finished chewing and placed his fork down then wiped his mouth with his napkin and looked up at me.

"After the announcement, I made it my mission to find my mate. I knew she was there somewhere because I felt her presence but I also felt confused and for some reason I only thought about you. Of course I needed to find my mate but I had to find you to see if you were alright. Little did I know you were her all along. While we were searching some of the members had doubts that I would ever find you or what kind of she wolf would leave me without a word. I punished a lot of them because we didn't know why she, you, disappeared."

"So they hate me?" I said as I placed my fork down and watched his reactions intensely.

"Some of them don't think you're fit to be their Queen but that isn't their choice. The Moon Goddess chose you and they either accept it or leave."

My heart was hurting because it was my fault that they didn't trust me but his what he said made me determined to show them how much I would protect them just like he would.

We finished breakfast then went upstairs for a shower and once we were done he went to his office to finish up a few things while I took a tour around the house. It was a beautiful home with so many rooms I lost count. I passed through several halls and explored the balcony along with offices of various members and even found a game room. I didn't have a clue about his pack so I found the library in hopes it would have something I could study. I came upon a directory and browser through it learning as many names as I could. I had a photographic memory so I was confident I would be able to impress a few of them.

After Tanner finished in his office he found me sitting at the desk with tons of books in front of me and my head buried in a history book.

"Doing research?"

I looked up with a smile and said "Yes I'm trying to memorize your pack members."

"Li, that will take time, trust me. They come and go so often. Some find mates and go to their pack and others go rogue. They start families and grow or pass away."

"Tanner, I need them to see that I'm trying. I want to show them I'm not just some pretty face. I am their queen and I'm going to prove it to them."

I blushed at his response. He walked around the desk and leaned against the edge taking the book and closing it shut then swept them all off the top then pulled me up and sat me on it.
