“What’s wrong?” He asked. 

Penelope bit her lip, seeming to struggle with what to say. Her hesitance made her look even more pitiful, “It’s nothing, Lucian.” 

Just then, Kamilla emerged and seeing Penelope’s state, she gripped Lucian’s hand tightly and started walking towards the balcony. “Luca, where did you go today? You’re half an hour late.”

“Luca, did Penelope tattle on me again?” Kamilla asked. 

Lucian glanced at Kamilla, “Did you upset her?” 

Kamilla pouted, “I just can’t stand her. Luca, are you really going to marry her?” 

Lucian was in the process of rolling up his sleeves when he paused at her question, “That’s none of your business.” 

“Luca, Yuliana might wake up soon. Kamilla sounded a bit anxious. 

At the mention of Yuliana, Lucian’s face changed instantly. He looked at his sister, his voice dropping, “Kamilla!” 

“Luca…” 

A fluffy dog scampered in, freshly bathed and fluffy. 

It was Penelope’s first time seeing him, and she was instantly enamored, “Where did this dog come from?” 

The butler said, “It belongs to Mr. Lindberg.” 

Hearing that he was Lucian’s, Penelope’s affection grew. She rushed over to pet him, but the dog barked suddenly, startling her. 

The butler quickly led the dog away, not wanting to scare Penelope. 

Penelope clutched her chest, the dog’s aggressiveness taking her by surprise. She didn’t have the mood to play with the dog anymore, and she looked towards the balcony where Lucian and Kamilla were at 

But the distance was too far, she couldn’t hear a thing. 

Penelope had no idea what Kamilla was saying to Lucian on the balcony, but she was worried that Kamilla might influence him. 

Kamilla was always against her, she had tried to be humble and respectful, but Kamilla showed her no respect. 

Miranda watched Penelope, seeing the changes in her expression, thinking that she just had a minor disagreement with Kamilla. mKnowing Kamilla’s character, Miranda wanted to chat with Penelope, “Penelope, come here. Let’s talk.” 

“Miranda” Penelope went over. 

She was wearing a white feathered V–neck dress, showing her slender neck and the necklace around it. 

Miranda looked at her, her gaze landed on Penelope’s neck. She furrowed her brows slightly, “Penelope, you’re pregnant now. Isn’t it uncomfortable to wear such tight clothes?” 

Penelope didn’t expect her to ask this, didn’t she want to ask about the necklace on her neck? 

“Oh, it’s fine. I’m not showing much yet, so it’s not that noticeable.” Penelope said. 

“Penelope, how did you and Lucian meet? Miranda’s question was just what Penelope had hoped for. She had been ready to steer the conversation in this direction. 

She immediately answered with a smile, “I met him at a hotel where I was celebrating a friend’s birthday. He had just arrived in Northfield and was framed by someone. I saved him. He gave me his necklace as a memory of our encounter.” 

As she spoke, Penelope’s face began to turn red. 

Miranda looked at the necklace around Penelope’s neck, her eyebrows furrowed, ‘Is this the necklace Lucian gave you?” 

“Yes, it was very dark that night and we couldn’t see each other’s faces. But I remembered him, and he remembered me. He gave me this necklace and 

said he’d come find me. I even thought I was dreaming until I woke up and found him right next to me.” 

Penelope’s voice was shy, her smile sweet, her face flushed which was enough to make anyone feel pity. 

But at that moment, Miranda looked at her necklace with a complex expression, “Penelope, you saved him. That means you two are meant to be.” 

But whether they could be together was another matter. Miranda sighed inwardly. 

Where did things go wrong? 

The necklace Penelope was wearing today clearly wasn’t the one Lucian had given her. So where was Lucian’s necklace?
