Penelope was slowly descending the stairs with the help of the railing while her servant rushed to help her. “Ms. Flanagan, take it easy.” 

Penelope had been resting at home for over a month after a hospital stay, but generally, bone injuries took about more than a month to heal fully. So even though her cast was off, she couldn’t put weight on her foot, and her arm could only slightly bend without holding anything. 

This month at home had been incredibly boring for her. And Lucian hadn’t shown his face at the Flanagans for a whole month, which was really getting on her 

nerves! 

While the servant was helping her down the stairs, Penelope suddenly stumbled. She quickly pushed the servant away. “What good are you? Can you take responsibility if I fall?” This made the servant even more cautious. 

After descending the stairs, Penelope seated herself in a wheelchair and rolled out of the living room to the greenhouse. 

The servant called Hattie sighed and headed to the kitchen where Linda was picking vegetables. Noticing Hattie’s troubled expression, Linda asked, “What’s wrong?” 

Hattie whispered, “Ms. Flanagan is really hard to deal with. I was very careful helping her down the stairs. She refused to take the elevator and insisted on the stairs. Then she almost fell and blamed me.” 

Linda was preparing dinner, and she was worried. The chef was out, and she feared that Penelope and Leah wouldn’t like the meal she cooked. Mr. Flanagan was easy to please, as long as the food tasted good. But Mrs. Flanagan and Ms. Flanagan…

While washing the vegetables, Linda said, “I’m thinking of quitting.” 

Hattie was surprised, “What? Linda, where are you planning to go?” 

Linda had been working for the Flanagans for a long time. Her relatives included Christopher’s driver and housekeeping company staff. The Flanagans paid well and provided good living conditions. However, Penelope’s temper had been getting worse. 

The Flanagans had five servants, including Margo and the chef. The chef was on leave. Margo didn’t do anything except boss them around. 

She, Hattie, and another older woman were responsible for cleaning a three-story house with a garden and underground parking garage. Cleaning a 300 square-meter mansion was no small task. Moreover, Margo always found excuses to dock their wages.” 

They lost money for dishes not being clean enough. They lost money for dust in the corners. A dishwasher washed the dishes, so she couldn’t control how clean they were. She wiped the corners daily, but Margo was just nitpicking. 

Linda said, “Isn’t working anywhere the same? Anyway, I think other employers are easier to deal with than Mrs. Flanagan and Ms. Flanagan. At least, I won’t run into a housekeeper like Margo.” 

Hattie nodded and said after a while, “I saw Ms. Grace in the supermarket when I went shopping. She looked pretty healthy.” 

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Hattie and Linda both had wet hands, and the doorbell rang for several seconds. Hattie quickly dried her hands. “Margo doesn’t do anything. Does she think she’s the queen of this place?” 

Hattie immediately went to open the door. Outside the black carved iron door, Allison stood with a bunch of carnations in one hand and a box of milk in the other, looking like she was visiting a patient.
