Chapter 1331

Dr. Bennett removed his mask, a look of sorrow shadowing his features as he turned to Lysander. “I'm sorry, sir. We couldn't save the baby.”

The words echoed in Lysander's head, chilling him to the core. His heart felt as though it were being pierced by needles, the pain unbearable.

"And Thalassa?" Lysander’'s voice was tense with concern as he quickly shifted his question to the doctor.

“Ms. Thalassa will be fine. She just needs some time to recover,” Dr. Bennett reassured him.

Only then did Lysander's rigid shoulders slightly relax.

A nurse wheeled Thalassa out of the emergency room, her gaze hollow as she stared at the sterile ceiling tiles, her complexion as pale as the hospital sheets

Lysander felt his heart clench at the sight of her lifeless state.

He walked alongside the doctor, accompanying Thalassa to her room.

After ensuring Thalassa was settled, the doctor and nurse left, leaving Lysander sitting at the bedside, his heart aching as he watched her. His voice was deep and soothing as he spoke, “Getting better is all that matters now.”

"Why did my mother go out?” Thalassa's voice was desolate, hoarse and fragile, as if the weight of her grief had crushed even her vocal cords.

“She was coming to tell me that you're not Bruce's daughter,” Lysander replied, a bitter edge to his voice.

If Evelyn hadn't gone out, she wouldn't have met with that accident.

Upon hearing Lysander's words, tears welled up in Thalassa's eyes, spilling over and tracing paths down her cheeks.

Evelyn had been worried about Bruce's shadow looming over her daughter, even in her final moments, her thoughts were for Thalassa's wellbeing

Thalassa's tears struck a chord in Lysander's heart, and he could feel her sorrow.

He reached out, his thumb gently wiping away the tears at the corner of her eye, his voice laden with tenderness, “You've just had a miscarriage. You shouldn't cry now, it's not

good for your eyes..."

Miscarriage!

The term hit Thalassa like a ton of bricks, a stark reminder of the loss she had suffered.

Chapter 1331

Her heart, already shattered, seemed to fracture even more.

She had been so careful, so protective of her unborn child, and yet, it was gone.

And now, Evelyn too had left her.

The pain was suffocating, tears flowing unrestrained, her heart in agony.

Lysander took her cold hand into his, trying to warm her and to ease her pain even a little.

“You still have me, and our four children.” His voice was a low, melancholic rumble.

He had never allowed himself to feel such sorrow for another's grief before, but seeing Thalassa in so much pain, his heart felt heavy as if weighed down by stone, acutely feeling her suffering. Thalassa closed her eyes and turned her head away, “I want to sleep now.”

She had only her children left now. Lysander meant nothing to her.

“Sleep then. I'll stay with you,” Lysander said softly.

However, Thalassa gently withdrew her hand from his grasp, her eyes still closed, her voice barely above a whisper, “No need. I can't sleep with you here.”

Her voice was soft, the effort to pull away feeble, but it was that very weakness that seemed to wield the greatest power.

It struck Lysander right in the heart, the pain sharp and sudden. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
