Chapter 344

Her finger hovered over the name Lysander, yet before she could press it, her phone buzzed with a call from Leopold.

Thalassa, her heart in her throat, had been about to call Lysander when the sudden vibration startled her.

She stared at Leopold's name flashing Incessantly on her screen, hesitating for a few seconds. Biting her lower lip and frowning slightly, she decided to answer the call just before it would have ended automatically.

Silence.

She held the phone to her ear without uttering a word because she didn't know what to say to him. On the other end, there was also silence for a few seconds.

Leopold seemed unprepared for her to answer. He had been ready for her to ignore the call after it rang for quite some time.

Yet suddenly, he realized the call had been picked up. The awkwardness and silence that ensued resembled the cold air in an ice cellar, suppressing his mood.

Leopold took a moment to compose himself, pressing down his heartache. The voice he projected was filled with sorrow.

"Thalassa,” he began, “are you really dating Lysander?” I

He held his phone in one hand, the other clenched tightly around his pant leg, his heart hanging in his throat.

After leaving the Everglade Hotel, he sat alone in his car, lost in thought.

He reflected on everything that had happened since he met Thalassa.

He confided in Lysander about his deep love for Thalassa, acknowledging that he had wronged her five years ago. He admitted that he had been manipulated, but his heart belonged to Thalassa all along.

His body may have been tainted by others, but his heart had always loved Thalassa.

The night five years ago had caused him immense pain, not only because he felt impure, but also because he lost the woman he loved most.

He loved Thalassa passionately. He had declared to Lysander that he would win her back.

At the time, Lysander had simply raised his glass in a toast, wishing him success.

Lysander had wished him success. So why had things turned out this way?

After much thought, he realized that while he had always told Lysander about the woman he loved, he had never revealed her name.

Lysander knew of her existence but didn’t know who she was.

At the bar, when Debby mocked Thalassa and Hertha revealed that Thalassa’s boyfriend was Lysander, Leopold thought they were only trying to save face.

Lysander had arrived then, but he only gave Thalassa a cold glance and said nothing.

He had thought that Lysander simply didn’t deign to explain.

Later, he invited Lysander to a company meeting. At the entrance of the conference room, Lysander and Thalassa crossed paths.

Lysander’s gaze was still cold.

In an attempt to make Thalassa forgive him and stay at his company, he deliberately criticized her capabilities.

He only wanted to tell Thalassa that no other company would take her in except for his.

Yet, Lysander had transferred Thalassa to the Sinclair Group under the pretense of training secretaries for him. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

And then Lysander had bought out his company.

He didn't think much of it, assuming that Lysander was investing in his company in a roundabout way to help him with his cash flow problems.

He recalled a series of events.

He realized that the relationship between Thalassa and Lysander had been riddled with hints and clues all along.

He had always thought that Lysander wouldn't be interested in someone of Thalassa's background, so he had been in denial about their relationship.
