Chapter 14
The second hand was ticking.
Christy had been working in front of her computer, even neglecting to order dinner.
She typed her name and the time on the plan and put on a smile. A complete plan was finally finished.
It was already past nine in the evening.
But having worked for hours without eating or drinking, she suddenly felt exhausted and her vision began to blur,
Was she feeling weak and dizzy because of hunger?
Thinking about her children’s hopeful eyes and soft voice calling her Mommy, Christy terribly missed them and longed to go home.
She slumped over her computer, and her eyelids got heavier by the second…
Meanwhile, in the CEO’s office of Stellar Group.
Joshua watched the night view outside the window. Checking his watch, he realized it was late, and he decided to drive to a nearby upscale restaurant for dinner.
As he stepped into the elevator, he subconsciously pressed the button for the floor where the planning department was located.
The fierce woman was in the planning department
He wondered what working environment could cause the woman to be this terrifying, so he stepped out of the elevator.
To his surprise, all other offices were dark, but the planning department was still brightly lit.
Who would be working so diligently this late at night? If someone was working so hard for the company, they should be rewarded accordingly.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to continue his visit.
As he made his way through the office, he caught sight of a small figure hunched over a computer.
It was none other than the woman who had snarled at him during the day. She seemed to be asleep at her desk.
That skinny figure and that stubborn profile, Joshua knew he would never mistake it.
His temper flared up at the sight of the woman dozing off in the office.
How dared she!
An idea came to him, and a mischievous smile crept onto his face.
The infuriating woman cursed at him and even laid her hands on him during the day. He had finally caught her in the act of slacking off, and he couldn’t wait to teach her a lesson.
He decided to give her a scare, appearing suddenly and catching her red–handed. He was sure her reaction would be priceless!
Joshua almost burst out laughing at the thought.
As he was about to knock on the desk, something on the computer screen caught his eye.

But as Joshua read through the entire proposal from start to finish, he couldn’t help but feel surprised.
To his surprise, the proposal was pretty good!
The plan wasn’t just an improvement over the previous shortcomings of the exhibition. It was also novel and stylish, incorporating the latest international trends. It was a real eye–opener.
“Christy, I underestimated you before. You are doing better than those old–fashioned ideas came up with by Ernest.”
Joshua smiled and continued, “Your proposal is impressive, so I won’t hold your napping against you. Now wake up!”
Joshua placed his hand on Christy’s shoulder, shaking her gently.
However, Christy didn’t respond.
“Christy, what’s wrong with you? I order you to open your eyes immediately! Do you hear me?” Joshua became impatient and increased his volume in a domineering tone.
To his surprise, despite his raised voice, Christy didn’t stir. It made Joshua feel strange!
He looked down and saw her pale face. Her lips practically drained of color like a dry leaf.
Joshua was taken aback as he placed his hand on Christy’s forehead. It was ice–cold, not the normal body temperature.
“Is she dead?” thought Joshua.
Chapter 14
He checked her breathing by placing his trembling hand under her nose. A weak puff of warm air touched his fingers.
Fortunately, she was still alive….
But looking at her struggling breaths, it seemed like it wouldn’t be long before she died.
“Damn it, who allows you to die here?” Joshua immediately took out his phone and was about to call 911. However, he realized that even the nearest hospital was ten minutes away from here. It could be too late to wait for the ambulance to come!
Not even a second could be delayed for now to save her!
Joshua then picked up Christy and brought her to the hospital himself.
To his surprise, the arrogant woman was light in his arms.
Her pale cheeks rested against his chest, and her petite body was powerless, now no more than a sick kitten.
Joshua’s heart fluttered again.
He was annoyed!
The woman was such a troublesome devil. Even when she was sick like this, she still managed to seduce him!
Joshua put Christy in his luxury car and drove to the hospital at the best speed.
During the drive, he occasionally glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
Her pale face remained calm…
Despite feeling angry with her, why did his heart ache when seeing her weak face?
The nurses were stunned as Joshua carried Christy into the hospital.
They all knew Joshua, the world’s wealthiest and most handsome man, and many of them considered him their prince charming.
The nurse was curious about who Christy was.
Why would the CEO of Stellar Group bring her to the hospital himself?
Seeing Christy being carried in Joshua’s arms, she was envious!
They looked so intimate, just like what the male and female leads did in idol dramas!
The nurse would have loved to switch places with Christy.
“Wake up! If you fail to save her life, none of you can survive!” Joshua yelled at them with a sullen face.
“Oh my goodness, Mr. Melendez is so terrifying…” thought the nurse.
She was scared out of her wits, and Christy was soon wheeled into the emergency room.
Joshua sat on a bench outside and waited anxiously.
He was in a terrible mood and couldn’t help thinking. “Does Christy have any hidden disease? If she died in the office, the media would demonize the company as exploiting the staff or something. How dare she make me worry so much? When she wakes up, I’ll give her a good scolding!”
After some time, Christy was finally wheeled out of the emergency room.
To his relief, Christy was not covered all over as she was wheeled out.
The doctor told Joshua, “Mr. Melendez, the patient fainted due to low blood sugar and exhaustion. We gave her à glucose IV, and she should recover soon. Please ask her to eat properly and rest more in the future.”
Joshua asked with a dark face, “Doctor, are you saying she only fainted because she was hungry?”
“Yes,” the doctof gave a clear answer.
Joshua was speechless.
Couldn’t the woman take care of herself? What a troublemaker!
