“Listen up, Christy. I have some good news for you. I’ve taken a liking to you.” Joshua declared arrogantly.
“That’s your business. What does that have to do with me?” Christy’s response was even more arrogant than Joshua’s.
“No one can resist my charm, including you!” Joshua’s pride was struck by Christy’s words. He honked the car horn and said. strongly. “Get in. I’ll take you home.”
Joshua wasn’t just boasting. If he parked his multimillion–dollar luxury car at a university, there would certainly be crowds of girls wanting to get into his car.
He was deigning himself to invite Christy, which was already a great honor to her.
However, to his surprise, Christy didn’t appreciate it at all!
Christy coldly said. “Mr. Melendez, you don’t have to trouble yourself. I can take the bus.”
Joshua wondered what was wrong with Christy.
She actually declined his invitation.
Joshua had never encountered a woman who would rather take the bus than sit in a multimillion–dollar luxury car, which was incomprehensible to him.
“You make 30,000 dollars a month now, and you’re still willing to take the bus?” Joshua asked angrily.
“Mr. Melendez, did you forget that today is only my second day of work? It’s not payday yet! I have no money. Why can’t I take the bus?” Christy asked.
“That’s why I’m telling you to get in the car!” Joshua glared at her.
“I don’t know you well enough!” Christy retorted back.
Joshua was speechless.
His car blocked Christy’s way, and he frowned, saying.
“Christy Osborn, no one has ever dared to refuse me! Don’t challenge my patience. You’ll regret it!”
Christy couldn’t avoid Joshua, and she found it ridiculous to be questioned like that. “Mr. Melendez, do you think that every woman in the world should be mesmerized by you when they see you? Should they all act like lovesick fools? Different strokes for different folks. Each person’s sense of beauty is different.”
Joshua heard what she was implying.
She was telling him that she wasn’t into him..
Joshua watched as the skinny figure walked away and tightly gripped the steering wheel.
Thousands of women wanted to sleep with Joshua, but he was even not interested in famous female stars like Gloria.
Why did that poor and insignificant woman touch his heart?
Did she reject him because of that man named Alan?
Was she in such a hurry to go home to see that man?
What was so good about that man that made her ignore Joshua completely?
Joshua’s deep eyes flickered with a dangerous light.
The woman Joshua had targeted would not be taken away by anyone else!
After shaking off Joshua, Christy finally breathed a sigh of relief and got onto the bus.
She hoped Joshua would soon lose interest in her and disappear from her world voluntarily.
When Christy passed by an alleyway, someone suddenly covered her mouth from behind and dragged her into the dark and narrow alley, throwing her next to a pile of garbage.
Christy looked
up and saw two tall and strong men standing in front of her, one fat and one thin, both wearing masks and only revealing their gloomy, fierce eyes.
“I don’t know you guys! What do you want?” Christy asked nervously.
“Nothing much. We heard you’re in need of men, and we want to help” the fat man sneered.
“Look at her curves. It should be fun to play with her!” The skinny man laughed and reached out his hand toward Christy.
It turned out that Christy had encountered two thugs!
Christy was shocked and angry. She picked up a cardboard box nearby to smash it toward the two men.
Chapter 19
The two men hesitated for a moment, and Christy took the opportunity to run toward the exit of the alley.
The thin man responded quickly, grabbed her collar from behind, and pulled her back.
The thin man used so much force that Christy’s head hit the wall directly. She immediately felt a shockwave go through her brain and collapsed.
With half–open eyes, Christy saw the two men approaching her with sinister smiles, feeling utterly hopeless.
“Don’t… don’t touch me…” Christy groaned weakly.
The thin man’s hand was about to tear Christy’s clothes when suddenly a green figure flashed, and a slender white hand grabbed the man’s wrist.
“Stop it! How dare you touch my friend?! You’re asking for a beating!”
A woman roared in anger.
The thin man turned around and saw a long–haired woman.
She had a delicate and classical face. The woman wore a tight black outfit and a green jacket, and her long brown hair fluttered down to her waist.
“Victoria?” Christy recognized that woman, though she was a bit disoriented. It was her friend Victoria Bright.
“Wow! Another girl! Bro, we’re lucky today. Two men and two women, fantastic!” The fat man laughed lasciviously.
The thin man chimed in. “That’s right! Look! This chick is also hot. Today, we will really enjoy ourselves!”
“Argh!” Before the thin man could finish his sentence, Victoria twisted his wrist, and he suddenly felt like his arm was about to break.
Victoria’s moves were ruthless. She kicked the back of the thin man’s knee, and the thin man fell down with a loud thud.
“You little bitch! I didn’t expect you to be a fighter! But I like feisty girls the most. It’ll be more exciting. First, let me impress you with my punch!” The fat man saw the thin man collapse and quickly roared toward Victoria.
Victoria stared at him with a cold gaze, took the initiative, and rushed toward the fat man. With one single move, she knocked the big guy down.
“Wow! Victoria is so powerful!”
“Victoria, teach these two bad guys who bully Mommy a lesson!”
Two cute kids clapped and cheered. They were Christy’s two children.
Seeing Christy lying on the side, Alan ran to Christy and helped her up. “Mommy, are you okay?”
“Yeah…” Christy rubbed her head slightly. Clara had already thrown herself into Christy’s arms and asked in a sweet voice, “Mommy, are you still hurting?”
“I’m fine. Why are you guys here?” Christy quickly held both children in her arms.
Among the two siblings, Clara was very naive, while Alan had always been calm beyond his age.
“Victoria picked us up from kindergarten. And we passed by here on the way home. We immediately stopped the car to save you when we saw that you were being taken into the alley by two bad guys!” Alan said calmly.
At that moment, Victoria was actually not at a disadvantage against the two tall men alone.
Christy was very surprised to see that!
