The Cambion's Hoard
Chapter 6-Thatcher

My thoughts were preoccupied with images of Rose in leather and fishnets. The leather had clung to her curves and left little to the imagination. Her sweater from earlier hid her body, but that babydoll, it left me wanting more. How was I supposed to concentrate knowing she worked at a sex club surrounded by demons fucking?

I shook my head. I needed to focus on the task at hand. I shoved more trash into the bag. I hadn’t realized our mess was this bad. I can see why she was pissed. That little house gremlin had been cleaning up after us, and we’d made it hard for him.

“Thatch?” Henson sounded annoyed.

“Hmm?”

“You’re in your own little world over there. You ok?” S~ᴇaʀᴄh the (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Yeah, Hen. Trying to focus so I can get this over with.” But, no, I was busy daydreaming about a woman I had just met.

“Don’t lie, Thatch. We both know that girl messed you up.” Biggs tied another bag shut and tossed it in the hall.

“Me? You’re the one who wanted to give her a piece of your mind and then practically threw yourself at her. Not that she took notice.”

Biggs growled. “She surprised me, is all. I’ll let her know how I feel next time I see her.”

“Easy, you two. You’re making me jealous.” Henson tossed his bag away and came over to Biggs.

Henson pulled Biggs into a kiss, and their hands began to roam. I could not handle that right now. Squeezing my eyes tight didn’t help. Rose flooded my mind’s eye and only worsened my ache.

I let my bag fall to the floor and headed out of the room.

“Where are you going? Don’t you want to watch?” Henson slid his hand into Biggs pants.

“No, I need to talk to Patti.” I needed motherly advice and someone to talk some sense into me.

Giving them time to respond would have made things worse. I didn’t know what it was, but I didn’t want to watch them. Before, it was like watching a movie with Henson and me. Now all I could see was my brother with my boyfriend.

I practically ran across the parking lot into the apartments. The tenants all nodded or waved as I passed. This place was charming and nice to live in, and they all put up with our shit. But, then again, Others like being around each other. It makes us feel at home.

The smell of incense hit my nose before I even knocked on Patti’s door. Hopefully, I wasn’t interrupting one of her appointments.

The door swung open, and a wheazened woman stood on the other side. “Ah, Thatcher, I was wondering when you would come and see me.”

“Sorry, Patti didn’t mean to keep you waiting.”

She stepped aside. “Come in and let us talk about your new roommate.”
