Chapter 580

“I almost missed it.” A gentle voice sounded in her ears.

Rosalie turned around and saw Calvin standing behind her. “Why did you get on the bus?” She was surprised.

“Because I still want to send you home. Since you don’t want to take my car, let me ride the bus with you,” he said.

Rosalie was stunned. Perhaps she had never thought that Calvin would take the bus with her.

“Please purchase a ticket if you wish to ride the bus,” the driver reminded Calvin as he pulled the bus away from the station.

Calvin rummaged through his pocket and retrieved a 20-dollar bill. Then, he intended to insert it into the ticket box. After all, all the cash he had in hand was in large denominations.

“Wait!” Rosalie hurriedly pulled Calvin and asked, “Are you going to give 20 dollars?”

“I only have 20 dollars,” Calvin said nonchalantly.

Rosalie pursed her lips and remarked, “Never mind. I’ll cover the bus fare with my card. You can keep your money.” After saying that, she took her monthly ticket card, swiped it on the bus fare machine, and proceeded to walk toward the middle of the bus.

At this time, it wasn’t the peak of rush hour, so the bus was relatively empty, but all the seats were already taken.

Rosalie found a suitable spot to stand and steadied herself by gripping the bar behind a seat, with Calvin standing beside her, “Speaking of which, I haven’t taken the bus in a long time. Today’s experience surely revives my memory,” Calvin remarked. “In fact, you don’t have to send me home. I’m used to being alone and don’t need anyone to send me home,” Rosalie said.

“Are you really used to being alone, or are you just not used to me sending you back?” he asked, looking at her with his dark eyes, as if he had seen through her.

Rosalie choked, turned her head away, and avoided his eyes. “Calvin, don’t waste your time on me.”

Upon hearing this, his eyelashes quivered slightly. His elegantly slender lips curved into a self-deprecating smile as he responded, “Indeed, I did waste quite a bit of time before. That’s why I’ve made the decision not to waste anymore.”

After a brief pause, he continued, “Rosalie, let’s see what the future holds. Will I waste my entire life without ever receiving a response or maybe, one day, you’ll give me a response? If that happens, it won’t have been a waste of time.”

“You…” She suddenly turned her head and stared at him. “Is it necessary?”

“It is!” he responded with determination. “Otherwise, I might regret it for the rest of my life.”

Back then, he had let go of her more than once because of Jonathan, and he was already regretting it. He couldn’t help but wonder if he had truly followed his heart back then and not let her go, could it have been him, rather than Jonathan, whom.

she fell in love with?

He let go of her, and Jonathan had also left a mark on her heart.

He regretted his compromises and retreats during that period.

He had always believed that the one he was waiting for was the girl from his memories, not realizing where his true affections lay.

By the time he discerned whom he truly loved, it was already too late.

He had thought that it would remain a regret in his life.

But later, Rosalie broke up with Jonathan. This time, he told himself to go for her and ensure there were no regrets left behind.

He would obey his heart before making a choice.

Rosalie didn’t know how to refute Calvin’s words for a moment, and they suddenly fell into silence.

At this moment, a passenger in the seat next to Rosalie got up and was about to get off the bus. The seat immediately became empty.

“Won’t you sit down? Or do you want to keep standing with me?” Calvin said.

Rosalie pursed her lips and took a seat. At least, when she was sitting, there was some distance between them, with him still standing. This helped reduce the oppressive atmosphere between them as well.

Just a moment later, she completely overthrew what she had just thought.

Calvin walked over to her seat and gripped the chair’s armrests with both hands. Being tall, this posture caused his waist to naturally bend slightly, giving the impression that he had enveloped her, who was sitting, in his embrace.

Rosalle could only lower her head awkwardly. She looked at Calvin and tried to ignore him.

However, there were still a dozen stops away from her residence. It would take at least 40 minutes to get there.

Rosalie closed her eyes and pretended to take a nap.

Calvin lowered his head and gazed at the woman in the seat. From his vantage point, he could see her black hair, gracefully arched eyebrows, closed eyes, and the delicate tip of her nose… She looked incredibly adorable.

He asked himself, when had he fallen in love with her and become so captivated by her?

If he had initially been drawn to her by her appearance, it appeared that he had gradually become enchanted by her entire

essence.

Even he couldn’t discern exactly what had captivated him. “Was it her resilience? Her sense of fairness? Or…” he wondered. “There is no sense for someone to fall in love with another person. Isn’t love just love?”

The bus made its way through several stops. Calvin noticed Rosalie’s head slowly tilting, bit by bit, and then gently swaying with the motion of the bus.

This intrigued him. It was the first time a woman had behaved this way around him. She had fallen asleep.

If it had been anyone else, he wouldn’t have spared them a glance, but when it came to her, he found himself unable to look

away.

Suddenly, the bus made a sharp turn, causing Rosalie to sway with the inertia, almost colliding with the window. Calvin swiftly placed his hand between her and the glass, preventing her from hitting it.

Immediately, her head gently bumped into his palm. Calvin couldn’t help but experience a strange sensation in his hand.

A rare feeling of satisfaction washed over him. It was as though he found joy in being able to help her, no matter how small the gestures might be.

And so, the bus continued on its journey, with Calvin’s hand positioned between Rosalie’s head and the window to protect her from hitting the glass.

Whenever her head hit his palm, a faint smile appeared on his face.

The scene was so warm and harmonious.

When the bus finally reached the destination, Rosalie abruptly woke up, stirred by the repeated announcements from the speaker that urged the passengers to disembark.

She couldn’t believe she had drifted off. It had started as feigned sleep but had unexpectedly turned into real slumber.
