Jeffrey was dumbfounded by his statement.

Was he... actually communicating with a little kid? "You intercepted the number?" "Yup! Waiting for you guys to rescue me was taking too long." Langston's response was remarkably nonchalant, devoid of any boastful sentiment. It was as though he was discussing something as mundane as the weather.

This made Jeffrey a country bumpkin! "Then you should give me the number." Langston glanced at him and suddenly shook his head, "I can't just give it to you. You couldn't even find me. I had to come out myself!" Jeffrey was left speechless.

"We can make a trade,” Langston squinted, grinning in a way that was a mirror image of Everett. The only difference was that Everett hardly ever smiled. "I want to use your work computer, is that okay?" Jeffrey didn't understand what Langston intended to do, but considering his extraordinary abilities, he decided to stay on guard.

"There are a lot of important things on my computer; it's not a toy." "I'm not asking for it. We're trading! You want the number, and I want your computer.” Jeffrey was shocked by the proposition.

There seemed to be some logic in the boy's argument! "Then tell me, what are you planning to do with my computer?" "What can I do? Of course, I want to contact my family." Langston knew that Jeffrey was not easily fooled, so he decided to play his trump card. He blinked innocently, posing a question in a naive voice, "What did you think I was going to do? Did you think I would steal your computer?” "No, no, the computer isn't worth much. I could even give it to you!" "Really? Well, thank you, Mr. Turner!" Jeffrey rolled his eyes, sensing that something was off about the conversation, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Just as they were talking, Everett's car pulled up.

After receiving the call, he had immediately set off towards them.

Langston's gaze shifted towards the vehicle, his eyes widening unconsciously as he watched the man stepping out.

No wonder Langston's mom had been hesitant to let him return home country. They really did look alike! Upon laying eyes on Langston, Everett felt as though he was dreaming.

Could there really be a child that looked just like him? He stood there stunned for a while until Jeffrey broke the silence. He then walked over, contemplating what his first words to the boy should be. Unexpectedly, Langston beat him to it.

"You're Everett?" "Yes." Langston scrutinized him from head to toe, then furrowed his brows, "My mentor told the truth that all the good-for-nothing guys are handsome." Everett, who had no experience dealing with children, stood frozen, unsure of how to respond.

Jeffrey, on the other hand, burst into laughter.

"Everett, now you know the power of your son! I was literally left speechless!" Everett stared at the little man before him, scrutinizing him intensely.

He attempted to discern something from Langston's face.

Perhaps, a trace of someone else.

But Langston resembled Everett so closely. Perhaps due to his youth, Everett couldn't see any traces of Dorothy.

"Did your mom ever tell you that I'm your father?" Everett asked cautiously.

Langston snorted, "No." "What's your mom's name?" Again, the same question.

Langston scrunched up his face in annoyance, "Does it matter? All you need to know is that I'm your son and you need to take me back to your place!"
