Tasha bit her lip, hoping Thalia would consider this.

Meanwhile, Thalia remained unconscious in the hospital bed. Lucas, after confirming she was okay, left.

However, he did not go back home. Instead, he drove to the dormitory building where Melody lived. Sitting quietly in his car, he could not quite understand why he drove here. He just felt the sudden urge to see her.

When Melody received Lucas' call, she was completely disoriented. Her daytime schedule had been packed with filming, and it was nearly 10 p.m. when she finally returned to her dormitory to rest. "Hello?" She answered the phone without even opening her eyes, only hearing very faint breathing on the other end.

Melody blinked, then held the phone away to check the caller ID. 'Oh, it's Lucas...'

"Why are you calling me now? Hello? Why aren't you saying anything?"

Did something happen? Suddenly, all traces of sleepiness vanished from Melody.

She sat up abruptly from her bed. "Say something! If something happened, tell me." "It's nothing. I just want to see you."

In the pitch-black night, Lucas' words pierced Melody's heart like an arrow. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"Aren't you supposed to be with Miss Thalia?" asked Melody hoarsely.

"What does me wanting to see you have anything to do with her?"

For some reason, just hearing Melody's voice was enough to make Lucas relax. Leaning back in his seat, he imagined Melody lying in bed, talking to him, and that relaxed him even more.

"I thought you didn't believe me when I said I didn't push her down? Why are you calling me now? Don't you just find me abhorrent at all?" asked in a joking tone, even though she felt bitter about it deep down. Hearing Melody mention that incident, Lucas straightened up in his seat and solemnly apologized to Melody. "I spoke out of haste at the time. I know it was my mistake. I've never thought of you as a bad person who would do such a thing."

Melody was stunned. After all this time, she finally got Lucas' apology and the trust she had been waiting for.

She turned her face away and sniffled softly. "I'm not angry nor will I hold it against you."

Lucas chuckled softly. "Of course. I expected nothing less than the generous Melody."

Lucas' deep voice flowed into Melody's ears through the phone, sending shivers down her spine.

"Ahem! So why are you calling me so late? You can just tell me over the phone."

From the moment Melody received Lucas' call, she was filled with genuine concern rather than impatience.

Lucas realized this and felt deeply gratified. As long as he was with her, and she always opened her heart to him, that was enough.

"I just want to see you, that's all."

Melody fell silent. She did not know how to respond. She was afraid of overthinking things again. She could not help but wonder whether he was joking.

She did not want to be the only one taking everything seriously. Would it not be pathetic if after all they had been through together, she was the only one taking it seriously?
