"No, no, it's not like that..." Wendy's mouth twitched a couple of times. "It's a misunderstanding. You must've misunderstood! Maybe Melody said something in the heat of the moment, but don't take it seriously! I am her sister, you know, and it's normal for sisters to have occasional disagreements."

Melody had long seen through Wendy's intentions. Unfortunately for her, while Wendy was interested in Lucas, he was not interested in her.

'We occasionally have disagreements as sisters?' thought Melody incredulously.

In the past, if they fought over a toy, Helen would not even ask and just let Melody give in to Wendy. Over the years, Melody had gotten used to it, but unfortunately for Wendy, Lucas was a living person and she would never again hand over her beloved to someone just because Wendy wanted it.

"Are you really dumb or just pretending?" Lucas spoke coldly, his tall stature towering over her, causing Wendy to involuntarily take a few steps back as she looked at him.

"Mister Lucas, what do you mean by that? I haven't provoked you, so there's no need for you to insult me," Wendy retorted.

"Miss Wendy, perhaps you should ask your conscience whether or not you feel guilty for saying these things. I'm not a fool either. Do you think I'd believe Melody's words or yours?" Lucas replied sternly. After saying that, he did not want to waste his time with Wendy any longer. He took Melody's hand and walked out of the room.

"Be a good girl and stay away from people like her in the future," he instructed Melody before they left the room.

Wendy clenched her fists in anger when she heard that. 'Who do they think they are? How dare they flaunt themselves in front of me? What did he mean by people like me?'

Melody, sensing Lucas' displeasure, cuddled up to his arm and swayed back and forth, as if cajoling him.

"Okay. Your words are my command!" said Melody.

Lucas glanced at her, fully aware that she was trying to avoid upsetting him. However, he was not really angry; he only felt concern for her.

"Oh please, do you think I'll believe you again? You might've been hurt by her again if I hadn't rushed over."

Melody felt genuinely guilty. "How was I supposed to know she'd suddenly lunge at me? She seemed perfectly calm when we were talking... And, by the way, don't blame Mister Shaun and the others. They've already checked her bag this time to make sure there wasn't anything else in it before letting us meet, and we were in such an open space."

Lucas scoffed. Of course he knew all that. Otherwise, he would not have let them off the hook.

"I'll be honest with you, I decided to meet with her just to see her grovel before me. I wanted to see what she was really up to."

Melody came to a halt as they reached her dressing room, and Lucas simply ushered her inside.

"Do you find me particularly troublesome?" Melody kept her head down, her hands fidgeting, looking somewhat uneasy. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Lucas suddenly hugged her. "Tell me, what's really going on in your mind?" he asked.

Melody nodded, and the two of them squeezed onto the single sofa.

"In the past, it was also me who gave in to her even when I did nothing wrong. But this time, she came to me seeking her own interests, and I just wanted to see her humbled and submissive for once."
