“Draco did what to my neck?” I sit up quickly. “I am assuming he doesn’t know I marked….” Dante responds, but the sound of a glass hitting the floor stops him. “You marked her?!” Celine shouts, seething, as she walks up to us. “Well, this changes things; not only have you accepted her, but you also marked her. Luckily after looking at the site a bit closer.” She quickly calms herself as Dante glares at her.

Dante runs his fingers through his hair, trying not to snap her neck for her outburst. “Can the curse be reversed? If so, then how do we do this? Removing curses is your specialty Celine, this is why I kept you for so long.” Celine grits her teeth. “I will help her if you allow me to challenge her.” Something in Dante must have snapped cause the next thing I know; he is holding Celine by her neck up against the wall, his eyes red with anger.

“She just got attacked by Draco, and you’re still trying to challenge her? I will kill you where you stand, I’ve put up with your mouth because she doesn’t seem too worried about you, but I won’t have you run your mouth off like that again…” I stand up and gently hold Dante’s hand.

“Let go of her; I accept her challenge. I told you already when it comes to things like this. I can fight my own battles.” He lets go of her, his eyes returning to normal. Celine is on the floor coughing. I offer her my hand; she smacks it out the way. “Don’t mock me; I will never accept you.” She stood up and walked out of the room.

“Let’s get her to the doctor. She may be able to help stop it momentarily.” Leo speaks up, and Dante nods, holding me by my arm. “I am afraid I haven’t introduced myself; my name is Cornelius. I worked under your father, the previous Demon Lord, and now I work under Dante and yourself.”

A man who was standing quietly in the corner finally speaks. He comes up to me and bows respectfully. “Please stand up, I am not good with this, but it is nice to meet you. Hopefully, you would be able to tell me more about my parents soon.” The elderly, white-haired man smiles and nods.

“Certainly, now excuse me, My Lady, M’Lord.” He disappears. I whisper to Dante, “You gotta teach me how to do that.” Dante shakes his head. “Let’s head to the doctors. Leo, meet us there.” He then holds me close, and I close my eyes; with a whoosh, we are outside a door that says. It’s not in English. “What does that say?” I ask Dante; he doesn’t answer. He knocks on the door. “Open it’s me!.”

Dante yells. I hear shuffling, and the door opens. He grabs my hand and pulls me in. “Draco put a cursed mark on her; I need it removed if possible.” A slender lady with long dark hair with white fogged eyes came up to us. Is she blind? “Yes, I am blind, no, I didn’t read your mind; it’s just what people tend to ask when they first meet me.”

She walks up to me and touches my face; I stand still. “Dante, you finally found her, I see; after what happened in the past, I am glad you can find peace. Just let me know when you are ready to dispose of that slut Celine, she has to repay me for what she did to my eyes.” I have so many questions. “Uh, what is your name?”

I asked her quietly as my throat is still in pain. “My name is Adria Cane, Dante’s beloved little sister. I am sure he spoke of me.” He hasn’t said a word about his family or you. Dante is getting upset behind me. His grip on my hand tightens. “If you squeeze my hand any harder, it’s going to break.”

I glare at Dante; he lets go of my hand and sits. “Come, dear, sit on the table. Let’s see what we are working with.” I do as I am told, and she gently caresses my neck. “I am going to take some blood from the site.” She then prepares to draw blood. She must have been blind for a long time to be able to move around like that. I’m impressed.

“Alright, this might hurt more than normal.” I brace myself, and she pricks my neck right where Draco’s nails impaled me. Holy shit, why does this hurt so much? I then feel Dante’s hand envelope mine, and suddenly I don’t feel any pain. “Hurry up; you’re hurting her.” Confused, I look at Dante, and he is gritting his teeth; I gasp. Is he taking the pain for me?

“This is nothing, babe. I don’t want you in pain.” My heart skips a beat, and my stomach somersaults. The fuck was that? “Okay, I am done. Dante, you fell pretty hard for someone who murders their mates for fun.” Dante walks away, “That isn’t funny. She won’t understand your humor, Adria. I’m going to have a word with Leo.”

He disappears. Adria taps my hand. “Don’t worry; he won’t hurt you. I think he would have killed you a long time ago if that were the case. Just lay back and relax; I’ll run a few quick tests.” I lay down.

“Everyone seems to tell me that, when I first found out about what he did, I was scared out of my mind; I’d just been dragged into this mess after living life as a human. It was all happening so fast. I don’t even know how I feel about him. He has been claiming love since the day we met, but I think that was to get me in his care.”

She has my blood mixed with some other substances in a test tube. “Has Dante ever done anything to make you doubt him? My brother was hurt in the past; I am sure he told you the story, or he would have been in here making sure I don’t run my mouth." Adria sighs deeply. "To get him out of this rage, I had to sedate him, and it takes some serious shit to sedate a demon, especially one as powerful as he is.”

“He was ruthless, still is, but I doubt he would want to show you that side of him.” I suddenly remember; when he had Amber in the basement and the way he handled those lackeys. I swallow hard. “Last night…”

She nods, “He came to me after you got attacked, and my first thought was something happened to you; I had to get him out of his full form. It wasn’t safe for him to be around you like that, especially since you haven’t fully awoken yet, Which is another thing he wanted me to look into.”

She stirs and mixes some more stuff. “Your mother’s spell is still on you, but the good and bad news is that Draco’s curse is deteriorating the magic. If we break the curse, we will have to find another way to lift your mother’s spell, but lifting it puts a big ass target on your back. Draco isn’t the only one that is after you.

"You can’t trust anyone. Only trust Dante, I’m not saying this because he is my brother, but I can tell he loves you, mate, or not. Watch out for Celine; I was never fond of her and couldn’t quite understand why he kept her close. Now because you are in the picture, she will become more desperate.”

She starts stirring some ointment and pulls a beautiful black choker with rubies out; I hear her chant something. She then rubs the cream on my neck then motions me to sit up. “The ointment will help with the healing and the pain.” She then puts the choker on me. “No one can take this off except for Dante. I am sure this is beautiful on you.”

I had to ask. “If you are blind, how is it that you can do all of this?” She smiles and whispers. “It’s a secret.” Dante then walks in. “Are you done? What have you found out?” He is using his business tone. “The choker is to stay around her neck at all times; it can get wet. The choker helps keep the curse at bay; I will look up what kind of curse and get back to you once I find out more information. If you have the urge to bite her, there are other places….”

She pauses, thinking for a moment. “I figured out why she hasn’t fully awoken, but be warned that if she becomes fully awakened, it will destroy her mothers spell.” Dante crosses his arms and looks at his sister for what seems like a while. “I see, so that’s what it is, I figured, so I just wanted to confirm. Thanks, Adria.”

What, did they have a conversation about me in front of my face? “Did you guys just have a secret conversation?” Adria laughs, but Dante scowls, holding me. “We’re leaving.” I wave goodbye to Adria and close my eyes. Remember what I told you. She says to me in my head right before we disappear and are back in our bedroom.
