My jaw drops. “Is that why I haven’t fully awoken as a demon? Does Dante know?” She nods. “He has known for a while but just wanted to be sure. He has been very patient, which surprises me. I believe you will be good for him; he only has eyes for you.” I think for a bit. “Everything you are feeling is normal for someone in love. Being mates is just a plus.”

In love? Me? With Dante? How have I not known? Does he even feel the same way? “I don’t know, Adria, and I am sorry to have dropped this on you.” She smiles. “I told you before, I like you, so I have already accepted you as Lady, now let’s go before Dante sends a search team for us.” As we leave the bathroom, Dante is waiting down the hall. “Naila, I was serious when I told you I fell in love with you on sight. That night we met, I got the tip about Draco’s men and them being at your job. Dante sighs deeply. “I give you my blessing, son. That was the last thing he said to me. I was stubborn, so I planned to protect you from a distance. I thought that if I met you, I would kill you on sight. After dealing with the goons behind your job, it was around the time for you to get off. I thought I missed you, I saw you running to catch the bus, and everything around me was in slow motion. I bite my lip, remembering my clumsiness. Did Dante have to mention that? I stretch, yawning as I wake up. “Did you sleep well, babe?” I nod. My eyes were still foggy. “Good, glad to hear it. I smile, then walk up to the mirror, staring at myself. “I haven’t changed back, and I wonder how the remedy is coming along.” I touch the choker on my neck. Dante comes up behind me and kisses my cheek. “I thought you were mad at me.” He walks to the closet and puts on some clothes. “I can’t be mad at something you can’t control. Did it hurt? Of course, it hurt; I can feel pain, you know.” He zips his pants, and my eyes trail down his body. “I am so sorry…Dante.”
