Chapter 12 - The Invitation -

The trial took place amongst the 6 alien council members. They read the charges off to the three men and told them they would have a chance to defend themselves during the trial. The US President was one of the people in attendance as well as several members of his cabinet. Rose wanted to make sure everything was fair so she had a defense attorney brought in from earth to help each of the three men.

He only ended up defending kernel Morris and Mr. Brandon. Rodger Right had decided to plead guilty to all counts. He had asked to speak with Rose in privet before the trail began and Rose agreed.

Rose led Mr. Right into her privet office located just down the hall from the courtroom.

“So what do you want to talk about?” Rose asked once they had entered her office and closed the door.

“I wish to join you as one of you. My wife and I both do.” Rodger said his hands bound in front of him.

“Why should I consider letting you join us? You chased my nephew, imprisoned several of my people and you work for kernel Morris and Mr. Brandon.” Rose said knowing that who he worked for was no reason to condemn a man. She just wanted to get his reaction to the whole thing.

“I know I have not been a good person and nor should you trust me.” He said with his head bowed. “I did not work for kernel Morris and Mike Brandon by chose. I worked for the NSA under Fred McDowell and was transferred to the NSS just last year.”

“I see. And what did you do for the NSA before being sent to the NSS?” Rose asked.

“I worked in intelligence with my wife. I did all the footwork while she did all the analyzing.” He said now looking up to show he had tears in his eyes.

“Mr. Right, I have known people that can force tears out on command. However, your story so far matches what your wife told me a little while ago. She is here with the President to see your trial.” Rose said as she crossed the room to stand next to Rodger. “She asked for the same thing and I think I will give it to you. But not until after the trial.”

“Thank you.” Rodger sighed out the tears falling harder.

Soon the trail began and kernel Morris and Mike Brandon told their stories. Kernel Morris said he was 5th generation army and he had seen enemies come in all shapes and sizes and when Rose came into the picture and took his daughter away from the important things in life, she was considered the biggest sign of an enemy he had ever seen. As for Mike Brandon, he claimed to only be following orders but the evidence was shown that he was the one that requested the prisons and he was the one that asked for dissections of some of the inmates.

After three days of trial, the judges decided they had heard enough. They told kernel Morris and Mike Brandon that they were being given their choice of punishments. The first option was to allow Rose to turn them into creatures like her and spend the next five years working in the colony to help improve it. The second option was to spend five years in a penal colony on Zicarthona where they would be required to work in the mills since neither man was strong enough to work anywhere else.

Both men thought hard before they answered. Kernel Morris took the Zicarthona penal colony while Mike Brandon took the other option. When Mike gave his answer Morris looked over at him and said “Pansy”.

Rose had spent the next week walking the streets of the Mars colony thinking. Wondering why people hated them so much. This night whoever she met up with Sarah. Most of the aliens were able to walk the streets freely like Rose and everyone else that had changed. The only 2 that could not be Zieth and Zor. Both of them needed oxygen to breathe so they had to stick to the Bio-Dome.

As Rose and Sarah walked the streets they talked.

“So have you given any thought to my invitation?” Sarah asked looking up at the stars in the sky.

“Your invitation?” Rose asked as she stopped and turned to look at Sarah.

“To teach you how to control your white energy so you do not change people that do not want the change.” She said meeting Rose’s gaze. “You all have it. But yours is far more powerful than I have ever seen and it is escaping freely.” She said resuming their walk.

“It is escaping freely? So that is why people turn after I meet them?” Rose said kicking a small rock on the ground.

“Yes. But I can teach you to channel it when you need it and suppress it when you don’t” Sarah said watching some children run by laughing.

“I would want to bring my family along if I come,” Rose said also watching the children.

“Of course, we can’t bring everyone but I think we can fit ten or so people. No humans though we don’t have any way for them to survive on our planet.” Sarah said as they turned down a side street.

“That means my oldest daughter can’t come with us,” Rose said with a look of concern on her face.

“She is human?” Sarah said with a look of confusion on her face as she stopped in the middle of the road.

“The only one I know of that I have had any physical contact with after I changed that did not change themselves,” Rose said turning around to look at Sarah.

“This is interesting. Can I meet with her?” Sarah asked stepping forward to be with Rose. “She may be able to resist the energy in ways that many never could.”

“I think we can arrange that,” Rose said as she turned continued their walk.

Rose took Sarah to meet Elizabeth the next morning. Rose was asked to wait outside while Sarah talked to Elizabeth. Rose agreed and told Elizabeth she would just be right outside if she needed her. Elizabeth nodded and Rose left the room.

Sarah to Elizabeth by the hand and led her to the table where they sat talking. After several minutes of them holding hands, Sarah stood and walked out. As she left the room she saw Rose standing down the hall, a little ways from the door.

“So what did you learn?” Rose asked as Sarah stood in front of the door.

“Your child is not resisting the energy. She is different than any creature before her. She is in full command and able to call it as she needs it just as you, even though she is unaware of its presence in her.” Sarah said her eyes big like she had seen something that was impossible.

Rose turned and thought for a few minutes before deciding to go talk with Elizabeth. Rose explained everything she knew to her and told her what Sarah was offering to her. In the end, Elizabeth told Rose she wanted to go to Earth to college anyway and that Rose should go to Nandime. Rose contacted the President and told him what was going on. Since she had been asked to be the diplomat between the two worlds she felt he needed to know. When he heard that Elizabeth wanted to return to Earth for college he offered her a full scholarship as well as the position of a diplomat.

Soon Elizabeth was back on Earth and Rose, Meagan, James and Rebecca and their now four children were on their way to Nandime. Not knowing what awaited them there, or the adventure yet to come.
