We stared.

He stared.

My heart was going a mile a minute.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“I don’t know.”

He ran away.

“Have you ever seen anything like that before?” I asked. S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“No. How many do you think there are?”

“I don’t know. Let’s take a look around.”

We followed the strange creature.

“You know, wherever he’s going it could be in the direction of more like him,” Giselle pointed out.

As we swam, I couldn’t believe what had happened!

Had Giselle and I discovered a new species?

I always wanted something to make me feel special.

Had I found it?

If so, it was overwhelming in a way that was good and bad at the same time. I wasn’t sure what this discovery meant.

We made sure to stay hidden in case the strange creature turned around. We didn’t want him to see us. After about ten minutes the tubes started leading us in a different direction from the one he was heading in. I was frustrated that not being able to walk on land meant we couldn’t follow him. We followed him with our eyes for as long as we could. About a minute later, two more creatures like him appeared.

My jaw dropped.

Giselle’s eyes bulged out.

Giselle and I took a good look at these creatures and I tried to absorb every detail of their appearance. One looked like a merman, the other looked like a mermaid. They still had legs and they were wearing clothes on their legs.

I was fascinated by the way they ran. I couldn’t imagine if I had any legs that I would be as fast or as agile.

The three creatures talked to each other for a few minutes. Then, they turned around and I knew they were trying to look at us. Luckily, we were hidden and couldn’t be seen.

A dog appeared. The first creature’s face lit up. He petted the dog and the dog wagged its tail. I was glad he was nice to the dog because I didn’t accept animal cruelty.

The three strange creatures walked away with the dog.

On the way home, a few sail fish swam past us.

We gasped.

Sail fish were faster than any land animal and their speed took us by surprise. Giselle asked, “How is it possible that there are creatures we didn’t know existed? I thought we had explored the planet.”

“There are a lot of areas on land that we still haven’t explored,” I reminded her. “How many of those creatures do you think there are?”
