This was the only possibility Michael could think of that could explain it. Not only did they manage to keep their divorce hidden from the elders, but Aurelia also didn’t come back crying either.
Therefore, deep down, Michael felt a great deal of sympathy and pity for Marcellus, his former son–in–law.
That was why he never really made the phone call that Melanie, his wife, repeatedly asked him to make to confront Marcellus.
Poor Aurelia, if she knew how she appeared in Michael’s eyes, she would probably be at a loss for words and helpless!

However, Michael was also a father, and within his innermost being, he faced a moral dilemma.
He could gain a fresh starting point for himself through his daughter Aurelia’s divorce.
But the thought of his daughter sacrificing her own happiness and well–being in certain quid pro quo in order to help him. gain something left a bitter taste in Michael’s mouth.
He was torn between his desire for more power and a broader horizon and his wish for his daughter to be happy and
content.
He couldn’t share this agonizing state of mind with anyone, not even his wife Melanie.
Of course, he certainly couldn’t reveal even a hint of it in front of Aurelia, fearing it would embarrass or sadden his delicate and emotionally fragile daughter.
He could only judge Aurelia’s happiness and satisfaction being with her current man by observing her facial expressions. Judging from the current situation, it seemed that the person she was with, Jacob, treated her well. Aurelia had become more cheerful and outgoing, and she was smiling more now.
Her temperament and personality had undergone significant changes. She was becoming increasingly confident and she shone with a radiance that Michael had never seen in his daughter before.
Michael attributed all these positive changes to the person he had never met before, who was Jacob.
So when Aurelia proposed that the whole family go on a trip to Yannopolis, as a father who wanted to indulge his daughter, Michael couldn’t refuse.
He couldn’t help but speculate whether the person responsible for suggesting this trip was Jacob. Then, he wondered if he might “coincidentally” encounter Jacob during their visit to Yannopolis.
This hypothesis excited Michael to the point that he couldn’t sleep.
However, all these assumptions were nothing more than Michael’s wild imagination and his own self–importance.
At this moment, Jacob had already arrived in Druobridge two days before International Workers‘ Day.
He had met with Hayden regarding Logistics Team A’s half–yearly military contract orders and was currently overwhelmed with work
How could he possibly go to Yannopolis and join Aurelia’s family on their trip?

In Hayden’s office within Logistics Team A. Jacob, dressed in casual brown–colored attire, lounged half–sitting on a black leather couch that seemed overly formal.
Feeling somewhat exasperated, he glanced at Hayden, who was not far away. Hayden was meticulously reviewing documents with his head lowered, dressed in a neatly tailored military uniform.
The shiny shoulder insignia with two bars and four stars silently indicated that despite his young age, he was already a
senior colonel.
A senior colonel in the legion! A bona fide vice admiral!
His age was too young. He was just under 30. If he were just a few years older, becoming a full admiral would have been a piece of cake.
He might even have a shot at a higher rank, like a vice general, given the right circumstances.
What made people even more envious to the point of nausea was that he was the person in charge of Logistics Team A, where the profits and power were the greatest.
Countless people who had spent their entire lives serving in the military never managed to reach the rank of colonel. How could they not feel bitter about it?
But now, Hayden didn’t seem to be in a particularly good mood.
He had maintained his impassive expression for more than two and a half hours, and the files in front of him had been continuously changing as if he would never finish checking them.
