Chapter Twenty-Three - Kidnap

Mike and his accomplices have stopped searching downstairs, and I can hear them making their way up the stairs. I know we don’t have long before they discover where we are hiding. All three of us are trying to stay as silent as possible, too terrified even to breathe.

I hear the heavy thud of footsteps as Mike and the rest of the wolves make their way to the bathroom.

“It’s all over now princess. Open the door and come quietly it will be much better for you and your friends” Mike says.

I say nothing. I know that there is no way that Mike is going to let me and my friends live.

The doorknob turns again, and the door rattles. They are trying to force the lock but surprisingly it holds.

“Open the door, before we break it down” Mike barks menacingly.

I turn to look at Lily and Daniel.

Daniel has a determined look on his place, and just shakes his head at me. He knows that no good can come from opening the door to Mike.

Lily looks shocked and afraid. I feel sorry for her she doesn’t know what is going on and why Daniel and I are hiding from one of the pack warriors. She has got to be wondering why a warrior is so interested in me, a lowly Omega. I feel awful that she has been caught up in this, she is the last person I would want to be put in danger because of who I am.

“I am not going to ask again. Beta Carl wants to speak to you” he says.

I look at Lily again, but her face is impassive, she doesn’t seem shocked that her father is behind this.

Suddenly there is a loud bang, and the door starts to shake on its hinges. The warriors are trying to break it down. Daniel and I brace ourselves against the drawers, using all our strength to try and keep them in place against the door. This stops them for a moment but then we feel the increased pressure as they slam against the door forcing it open. We get pushed back as the door slams off its hinges and into the drawers which then slide across the floor pulling us with it.

I look up to see Mike standing there with a menacing smile on his face. “Finally,” he says, “Carl is going to be so happy to see you. He has lots of questions to ask, and I am going to enjoy helping him get the answers from you.”

I shiver I know that Mike, is relishing the opportunity to torture me, but I am not going to let him know how afraid I am. I stare at him defiantly and say “I can’t think why beta Carl has any questions to ask me. Why did you break into my home? I am only an Omega, a packhouse servant.”

“Oh, I think you are more than that” he replies.

I hear Lily say “Why would Daddy be interested in Katy? He never has been before.”

For the first time Mike turns to look at Lily. I don’t think he realised that she was there until she spoke.

“Lily, your father will not be happy when I tell him that I found you here. How many times do you have to be told to stay away from this Omega, and the Gamma’s boys?”

Lily bridled, and with more courage than I thought possible tells him defiantly “they are my friends, I am not going to stop seeing them.”

“Well, we will see what your father has to say, but I doubt that your “friends” will be around for much longer anyway” he says with an evil smirk.

Lily gasps.

“Grab them all and bring them with us.”

I feel rough hands grabbing my arms, their claws piercing into my flesh, I try to struggle but they are too strong for me. I am not the only one struggling, two of the warriors are battling to restrain Daniel, he is putting up a good fight, but there are two of them and they are much bigger than he is. Eventually I hear a sickening thud, as one manages to land a vicious punch to his head, and the other to break his right arm. His body slumps, only stopped from dropping to the floor by the warrior holding on to his arm. His eyes are half closed, and he looks as if he is about to pass out.

“I am so sorry Daniel, this is all my fault” I whisper.

“Oh I wouldn’t blame yourself” Mike says nastily, “all the Gamma’s family are going to be killed when we take over.”

“Why? What possible reason could you have for doing this to your own pack?” Lily asks. A warrior is holding on to her loosely, being Carl’s daughter, they don’t dare treat her the way they are treating Daniel and me.

“This pack is weak, and doesn’t have proper werewolf pride, we are going to change that with the help of the Black Moon pack.”

“You mean that we don’t kill and enslave weaker werewolves and other creatures? That we aren’t intent on causing war and destroying smaller packs. Your idea of werewolf pride is abhorrent” I tell him defiantly.

“I am sure it is to you, not that your opinion matters. We need to get going now. Take the three of them and follow me” he orders the other wolves. “Carl wants to see her as soon as possible, and if we hang around any longer then the rest of the pack will realise what we are doing.”

“Alex won’t let you get away with this, he will find you and kill you for what you have done” I say as bravely as I can my heart is pumping in my chest. I feel so scared but I am not going to show it.

“I doubt that” Mike says sneeringly. “He should already be dead by now. You didn’t think this was just about capturing you, did you? Today we take over the whole of the pack, and kill everyone that stands in our way, as well as anyone we decide is not worthy of living.”

I shudder. It can’t be true they can’t have killed Alex. I won’t believe that he is dead. If he had marked me, I would know if he was alive through the mate bond, but without his mark I am unable to tell. I just have to hope that they haven’t succeeded, and that he is safe.

At least they hadn’t found Emma, they hadn’t bothered to look in the cupboard, and she has done what I asked her to do and stayed very quiet. I have to be grateful that they haven’t hurt her.
