Early the next morning, Ijimicko wakes up and is instantly thinking of his old buddy Eeko. He sits there in bed and imagines what horrible things could happen to Eeko and the other slaves during the course of the day.

“Darn Eeko... You’re in my mind... I’d rather be thinking of beautiful gorgeous Dorothée,” Ijimicko mumbles.

He gets out of bed and stares into his mirror. He smoothens down his hair and quickly switches to day clothes. His mind keeps on wandering back to Eeko, however, and makes him angry.

“I suppose the only way to get this annoying boy out of my head is to go do something for him. How annoying!” Ijimicko complains.

Without bothering to eat, Ijimicko sneaks out of his house and wanders across Little Wood Village. There are loud noises coming from everywhere as trees are being cut down and more houses are being built using the money the village earned from selling Eeko into slavery. The people truly intend on making their village at least into a town to make it more appealing to others. The cage once used to hold Eeko when he was bad is now smashed to pieces and people are dragging off the fencing to use on the new houses. Eeko’s tree house has been remodeled to suit humans who might want to live there. All signs that a half-human ever lived there are now gone. Ijimicko stares and marvels at the changes.

“They’ve managed to do a lot in the few hours I have slept,” he says.

He finds on the ground near the tree where Eeko’s house was a small stuffed wolf. He stoops and picks it up, dusting the dirt off of it.

“I guess even his kind keeps stuffed animals...” Ijimicko says.

He slips the stuffed wolf into his pocket and stands up straight again. He glances around to make sure nobody saw him picking up debris. The workers are all too busy to care. Ijimicko stares off into the distance with a look of determination in his eyes.

“I will find a way to free Eeko. No matter what!” Ijimicko says. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

He stops and looks at the stuffed animal in his pocket.

“You with me, kid?” he asks it.

He grins and heads off out of Little Wood Village. It doesn’t take long to head northwest to the Town of Rules so Ijimicko arrives by afternoon. The only thing keeping him from freaking out over being alone is the small stuffed wolf in his pocket that he speaks to occasionally.

The Wolf People slaves are all busy doing their work as usual when Ijimicko arrives.

“Look! It’s Ijimicko!” a few Wolf Girls cry out excitedly.

“Shhh... shhh... girls! Don’t let anyone know I am here!” Ijimicko says.

The Wolf Girls squeal and run back to their chores. Ijimicko sighs and approaches the property Ijimicko lives on.

“Kid, we’re almost to Eeko’s place of residence...” Ijimicko whispers.

The stuffed wolf, of course, cannot speak to reply back to Ijimicko. Eeko spots Ijimicko coming and walks to the edge of the property, not crossing the line that will send an electric shock through his body.

“Iji, why have you returned? Do you enjoy seeing me suffer?” Eeko asks.

“No, Eeko... I have something else in mind...” Ijimicko says.

Eeko notices his stuffed wolf in Ijimicko’s pocket and blushes in embarrassment.

“Why are you blushing?” Ijimicko asks.

“Nothing, nothing...” Eeko says.

“I’m breaking you out of here,” Ijimicko says.

“Aw, but I cannot cross the line. I’ve tried it before, it hurts,” Eeko says.

“There has to be a control box somewhere on the property...” Ijimicko says.

“So I get to go free? Won’t the humans find me?” Eeko asks.

“I’ll hide you,” Ijimicko says, “I’ve already thought of a brilliant place to hide.”

“Can I at least say goodbye to the others? They probably will die before the Legendary Hero arrives to set them free...” Eeko says.

“Sure. Don’t take too long. The police might notice me and I’ll be sent to the dungeon for sure!” Ijimicko says.

Eeko runs back to the shed first.

“Hey, Olive... I’m breaking out of here today. I just wanted to see Sydon again,” Eeko says, he turns into a human revealing his ‘Hope’ shirt.

Olive looks at Eeko sorrowfully.

“I wish you could break us all out of here...” Olive says, “That’s too obvious... But... The House Master won’t notice if you take Sydon with you...”

Before Eeko can object, Olive turns into her human form and places her pup in Eeko’s arms.

“He is your relative, after all...” Olive says.

“I can’t take Sydon... I’m a boy... I won’t be able to feed him...” Eeko says.

“It’s worth a shot... God will provide,” Olive says.

Sydon whimpers a little.

“Alright... I will take Sydon with me... Goodbye, Olive...” Eeko says.

Eeko wraps the purple puppy in his shirt to hide him. He then goes to say goodbye to Rikard and Darleen.

“Spinach-Face... This is the last time you’ll ever see me... I’m escaping. Darleen, the house master will not force you to mate with me. I will not allow it... I might see you again one day, but it is highly unlikely...” Eeko says.

“What’s in your shirt, freak?” Rikard asks.

“Nothing,” Eeko says.

Sydon whimpers a little again. Rikard crosses his arms angrily.

“Well... Bye!” Eeko says.

He turns and walks as quickly as he can without running. If he were to run, he’d turn into a wolf and the baby would fall and probably get hurt.

“Iji, did you find the switch?” Eeko asks.

Ijimicko flips a switch and the electric fences shut down. Eeko crosses the line without getting shocked. As soon as he is through, Ijimicko turns the fence back on and leaves the way he came. The house master doesn’t even notice.

“Iji, how did you get my stuffed wolf?” Eeko asks.

“It was on the ground. They’re remodeling your house to suit humans,” Ijimicko says, he glances at Eeko and his bundled up shirt.

Eeko notices Ijimicko’s staring and smiles a little.

“I’ll tell you once we get a safe distance away...” Eeko says.

Ijimicko nods and leads Eeko to the Snyvolon Field further northwest.

“Okay, Eeko. Spill the beans. What is that you are carrying with you?” Ijimicko says, finally.

“My relative. He was born yesterday...” Eeko says.

He unrolls his shirt a little and Sydon peers out at Ijimicko.

“Oh great... Another diamond headed mutant disaster!” Ijimicko says.

“Iji! That’s offensive!” Eeko snaps.

“Fine, sorry,” Ijimicko says.

“Where will we hide?” Eeko asks.

“The mountains,” Ijimicko says, “As we found out a few years ago, nobody really checks the mountains. You have fur and so does purpley there.”

“Okay. I trust you,” Eeko says, “You did save me after all...”

So the three head towards the eastern mountain range to hide.
