Scarlett

"You can not be serious? Isn’t this a joke?” He said and the phrase scared me.

This made me want to turn around again, but I felt both hands on my side, he hugged me from behind and his hands hugged my belly.

“A child is the thing I’ve wanted most my entire life.” He said against my ear, whispering, I got chills and my body reacted to it, but not as much as my mind.

I was so afraid of him reacting badly, of not wanting to, of thinking it was interest, I feared so much, and now he seemed not only to have accepted it well but to be loving it. I felt relief, so profound relief, that I felt as if the weight of the entire world was lifted from my shoulders.

I turned around suddenly and looked at him, trying to read if all that was true, and I saw his eyes narrowed by a smile, and when he finally managed to look at me, his eyebrows furrowed, when he saw my expression.

“I was so scared of your reaction,” I confessed.

“Scarlett,” Christopher said and pulled me into a hug, and there with the contact of his body on mine, feeling his chin resting on the top of my head, hearing his breathing on his chest in my ears, feeling the smell so strong, and his arms wrapped around my body made me feel so safe as if absolutely nothing in the world could reach me.

He asked me smiling, and I smiled back, but before I could respond, he knelt in front of me, level with my belly.

“I actually want to take you two out on a date.” He spoke to my belly, and then looked up at me, it was the cutest scene I've ever seen in my entire life, and I could only smile and nod my head as I felt the tears escape from my eyes.

Christopher kissed my belly, and then stood up again, while he held my face with both hands and brought his lips close to mine, I missed kissing him so much, I missed the taste of him so much, and feeling his sweet lips wrapping around mine made me sigh into his mouth, his tongue wrapped around mine quickly, and my hands pulled him closer by the neck, he pulled me around the waist as the kiss became more intense making me lose my breath.

“I finish the clinic at 7pm, you pick me up at 8pm.” I responded by raising an eyebrow. And he sighed.

“I'm not used to being contradicted. But that’s ok, I’ll pick you up at 8pm.” He said giving me a smacking kiss on the lips.

“I loved this meeting, Alpha. We can always repeat it.” I said, adjusting myself and trying to unwrinkle my scrub and turning to leave, but he pulled me by the arm again.

“Don’t tease me, Scarlett.” He spoke in a husky whisper in my ears as his arms wrapped around me again, I pressed myself against his body and then broke away from his embrace.

“Let’s save some for tonight.” I said turning around and kissing his lips lightly, before smiling and starting to walk to the door.

“20:00 then? In your house?" He asked loudly in my direction.

“20:00, at my house.” I responded by opening the door and leaving.

My father gave me a ride back to the hospital and it was as soon as I got in that my mother stuck her head out of her office, I didn't tell her any details, but I looked at her with a smile and it was enough for her to understand that everything was fine. when I was about to enter my room, Amanda the receptionist called me before.

“Doctor, there is a patient who needed to speak to you, I said you weren’t there, but he insisted and has been waiting in your office since the time you left.” She told me and I frowned at the time.

“Okay, Amanda, thank you.” I replied as I walked to my office, opened the door and my heart stopped for a few seconds when I saw Mathew inside my office.

"What are you doing here?" I asked closing the door behind me.

“You don't answer me anymore, I had to come here…” He replied, looking firmly at me, and I didn't want to, but I still reacted to his presence.

“I can’t make it any clearer, Mathew. I don’t want anything to do with you anymore!” I said trying to make him understand.

“I am your mate, Scarlett.” He said firmly, as if that gave him the right to do whatever he wanted.

“You don’t behave like one, Mathew. You lied to me and betrayed me.” I said back, but he started to get closer. He tried to put his hands on my waist and pull me closer, but all I could feel was disgust.

“What if I promise I’ll never do that again?” He was still trying to hug me, and I pushed his fists away from my body.

“I won’t be able to trust you, I don’t feel the same way and I can’t see this working.” I said trying to push his hands down, but he was strong and managed to wrap me around. “Don’t make me call security.” I screamed now, my voice came out much louder and stronger than I imagined.

“You wouldn't dare.” He said teasing me, testing me.

“Yes, I would dare, and you know what, Mathew, I need to free you from this. It may hurt now, but it's best for both of us, and you'll be able to date whichever wolf you want.” I started to say, preparing him for what was to come. “ I reject you.”

He didn't expect this, Mathew suddenly turned white, and the expression on his face was one of complete astonishment, his lips opened and he didn't know what to say, and then his face went from astonishment to anger, and he rolled his eyes.

I felt an emptiness in my chest, the link being severed, I felt as if a piece of my soul was ripped away from me, as if from now on my heart would beat differently, as if now at the same time that I was free, I I was alone, it hurt, but I knew it was necessary. Mathew was not the mate for me, and staying with him would only prolong my suffering.
