THE HYBRID WOLF
Chapter eight

We move to the field. Men have their eyes on me as if they are seeing me for the first time,  and women all have a disgusted look on their faces. Maybe I should let them know that distorting their faces like that will give them premature wrinkles. I can be charitable like that... Charity my ass.

A tall,  handsome, and enigmatic man walks to the middle of the field with a rugby ball in hand.

"It is strictly prohibited to shift on the field. If any of you should do that, your team will immediately be disqualified. Now ladies and gentlemen, may the best win, " he declares in a deep bariton voice which I find alluring.  He throws the ball up in the air and vanishes.

Damn, he is fast.

The people at our front line jump to catch the ball but miss. Twarts,  idiots,  fools... I grumble as I get ready to intercede the runner who has the ball and is coming straight towards me. I smile lazily as I take my sweet time to analyze the two people around him most certainly to guard him.

Ok. Time for the show.

I bend a little to get in position and start running. The two wolves next to the runner get in position to block me,  but they are waiting for a standing me, but I slide onto the floor on my belly, Once I'm under the runner, I push my leg backward and upward, hitting his hands and the ball goes flying into the air.

Before they can react,  I am up and in the air. I grab the ball and throw it with all my strength to our runner who I had previously localized.

The action is so fast that the three wolves in front of me stand in shock with one of them having his mouth wide open.

"Close your mouth sweetie you can never tell what might be flying around, " I finish speaking with a wink.

I look in front and sure enough those fools are about to lose the ball again. Our runner has the ball but the two people who are supposed to protect him are being overpowered.

I run fast, pushing myself. Just before the guy from Dragon Pack tackles our runner, I use my force and speed to hold both his hands forcing him a couple of steps back and when he wants to push back, I use the force he uses to stop mine and just step aside,  resulting in him falling flat on his face.

The idiot with the ball has stopped and is looking at me in awe.

"What are you doing?  What are you waiting for? " I snap him out of his daydream and he nods taking off.

I run by his side and ask him to run no matter what and I will protect him. He smiles and nods again. He is about the same height as me. Slim with a boyish look. Short dark hair, brown eyes. Nothing special but his smile is cute, not that I'm interested or anything.

We have crossed their first and second line, heading to their defense line where their alpha is. Alpha Nickson. But also his beta and gamma, Martin and Zack.

I start sweating because I don't know how I'd be able to take the three of them down while protecting my runner.

At some point,  I feel alpha John by my side. I look around to see that every other pack member is fighting off the opposition.

"Cover him,  and I will cover the both of you. Like I'm a first line of defense and you the ultimate one, " I say because I could see that he didn't like taking orders from me. A little stroke of his ego was necessary to have him comply and it worked. He agrees. Ultimate defense my ass.

I see alpha Nickson coming towards us in full force and I shit shit shit my pants because I brace myself to stop him.

I increase my speed bypassing Alpha John and the little runner right into Alpha Nickson. Our collision is like an explosion. I am sent a few meters back,  but the alpha is sent flying.

Shit my pant...

I charge towards the beta and gamma and see them getting ready. I can't take them both at once so a few seconds before collision I slide between them on the ground. Getting back up extremely fast, I grabbed them by their neck from behind bringing them down with the force of my weight and the slight hesitation they had after being surprised by my move.

As I'm going down with the two powerful men,  I see my alpha and the small runner pass us and the rest of the defense is easy to take down by our alpha.

A few moments before they cross the line,  I hear Leone whisper "protect alpha, " in my head.

I stand from where I am and start running in their direction. I am starting to feel the burn in my muscles as I push hard and jump in front of Alpha John, receiving the full force of the blow of Alpha Nickson.

While the alpha and I are both flying from the violent collision,  our runner crosses their line signaling that we have won.

I fall back down with a 'tut sound' laughing as the adrenaline pumps in my veins. I feel eyes on me and turn to see Alpha John looking at me intently.

I turn my face away still laughing at the great exercise I just did. I still do not quite believe I was able to stop an alpha twice and take down a beta and a gamma at the same time.

My body is so going to hate me for this, but the endorphin pumping through the said body for now is awesome.

I hear Caroline screaming my name from a distance and I fist-bump the air in her direction without getting up. At this point, I think I'm not up yet not because I want but because my body is refusing to move.

Shit, I hurt all over.

"Need a hand?" Caroline asks me with a smile, and I can't help but smile in gratitude. This girl is fucking awesome.
