Chapter 231 A Witness

Northern No. 1.

Amanda was not feeling happy because Stephanie came to ask about her salary.

She was close to laughing in anger because Stephanie was an interesting person who always asked what to do. Doesn't she know that Elias doesn't care about my feelings at all? "Why isn't Aiden back..." Selina glanced at the clock and figured that Aiden should be back by now.

Only did Amanda realize that Selina didn't pick Aiden up from school.

"Why didn't you pick him up from school? It's been hours since school ended, no?" Amanda couldn't help but ask.

Selina answered, "About that... I forgot to inform you that Mr. Winters called to inform you that he'll pick Aiden up from school and bring him out for a meal before sending him home." "Ah... He still wants to pretend that he's showering the child with love while his fiancée harasses me. Geez! He is pretending to be a good father when he's merely being hypocritical."

"So, the girl who came today is Mr. Winters' fiancée? She actually came to provoke you? Is she out of her mind?!"

"Otherwise?"

The doorbell rang at that point.

Amanda wanted to open the door, so she went to the entrance, only to see from the video doorbell that Elias was carrying Aiden in his arms. They looked like a loving father-son duo, but the man was about to be engaged at the end of the month, which made the situation really ironic.

She opened the door stoically, after which Aiden happily called out, "Mommy! I had a lobster! It was so huge!"

She perfunctorily smiled in response. "Mhm. Hurry up to have a shower and sleep, or you won't be able to wake up on time tomorrow."

The man put the child down, after which Aiden ran like a horse into the house as he couldn't wait to share his interesting stories with Selina.

Amanda glanced at the child behind her and turned toward the man coldly. "Thanks. You can leave. If you are busy tomorrow, you don't have to pick him up from school. I'm free these days."

The moment she closed the door, she heard Elias saying, "I will be sending him to school every day from now on."

The door then slammed with a bang while Amanda sneered.

Outside the door was Elias, who looked at the closed door, feeling lost.

His phone vibrated at this time.

He looked at it and noticed that it was Jack calling him. He couldn't help frowning as a look of irritation appeared between his brows. However, he still answered the phone. "Mr. Allegra."

"Elias, come over tomorrow to have your measurements taken with Steph. I've found a designer to custom-make the attire for you. Don't be late, as it's not easy to schedule an appointment with this designer." "Right. I got it."

"Bring your mom over as well so that both families can have a meal together. It seems that only your mom can be a witness to your happy day."

Elias frowned in displeasure as it felt satirical since there was no one else in his family.

In actual fact, the Winters Family still consisted of his mother, who was the evil elder of the house, as both his grandfather and father were deceased.

"Mr. Allegra, I'll make my own decisions. There's no need to look for my mother. I'm now the person in charge of the Winters Family, so I have the final say on everything."

"An elder would still need to attend the ceremony as a witness, though. After all, marriage is a matter between two families. I really hope your mother can attend the engagement ceremony."

Elias started to feel irritated when he replied, "You are making things difficult for me, Mr. Allegra. You know that my father and grandfather passed away one after another, and my mother's not in a good state of health. If you insist on inviting her, then please look for her in the nursing home yourself. I'm guessing that she won't want to see me now since she will lose her sanity if she sees me."

On the other end of the line, Jack fell silent. He merely thought that it would make things more formal if Elias' mother could attend the ceremony, but since she was insane, he had no choice but to strike down that idea. Otherwise, if she threw a fit at the engagement ceremony, both families would surely be the joke of the town.

"Do as you please, then, considering that you are the person in charge now."

"Yeah."

Elias was suddenly upset after the phone call. He looked up at the closed door in front of him and turned to walk toward the elevators.

He had barely taken two steps when his phone rang again, but it was his grandfather's butler, Boris Jones, calling.

He could even guess what Boris wanted to say. The butler surely suspected that Amanda was Howard's murderer and wanted Elias to investigate the old man's death.

Elias never doubted Amanda in this matter and also felt that she had no reason to harm Howard, which was why Boris' insistence started to make his head ache.

On the one hand, Boris had been his grandfather's butler for years, so it could be said that the man watched Elias grow up. That was the reason why Elias respected Boris a lot.

On the other hand, Boris was also the person whom Howard relied on the most in life, so he couldn't possibly lie about matters that involved Howard.

After repeatedly thinking about this, Elias still answered the call.

The moment the call was connected, Boris said, "Mr. Winters, you finally answered my call. I have found a new witness and would like to schedule a meeting with you. Is that okay?"

Witness?

Now that Elias' curiosity was successfully aroused, he replied indifferently, "Wait for me in the office."

Then, he ended the call and entered the elevator.

...

Over at the president's office in the Winters Enterprise.

As there were too many things going on lately, Elias had been camping out in the office. So, as soon as he returned there, he saw Boris leading a woman to the couch in the reception area. When they heard the sound of the door being opened, they both rose to their feet and called out, "Mr. Winters."

"Take a seat. Why are you looking for me? What did you mean by a witness in the phone call?"

Elias regarded the woman from head to toe, thinking that she looked extremely familiar. Is she a helper at home?

An emotional Boris explained, "Mr. Winters, I have been investigating what happened on the day that Old Mr. Winters fell down the stairs. I finally found some clues."

Elias frowned as he waited for the butler to continue.

"Old Mr. Winters was extremely worried about Aiden's situation that day," Boris continued. "So, he went to the Winters Estate to wait for some news. I heard from the helpers there that he went to your bedroom and Miss Bailey emerged. She said that she was looking for him before he was pushed down the stairs. I know that these intermittent guesses can't prove that Miss Bailey is the murderer, but I found a witness This is Ally."

As Boris spoke, he looked at the servant seated beside him.

The woman named Ally introduced herself to Elias. "Mr. Winters, you might not know me. I'm a helper over at the Winters Estate and responsible for the household chores."

"Ally, tell Mr. Winters everything you saw and heard that day. Don't withhold any valuable information whatsoever. Quick."

The butler looked impatient as he wished he could tell Elias the entire story, but he knew that Elias would not believe it if he said it, which was why this witness-Ally-was extremely important.
