Evelyn POV

The next morning was a bit of a blur. I remember getting some sleep but not a lot until Elspeth realised we were home and woke us up.

It didn’t even look as if Reuben had slept.

We both sleepily followed Elspeth downstairs where Cassandra had made the kid’s breakfast.

Sitting at the kitchen table, Rex is informing Reuben of a defensive move he did in training this morning. I didn’t like the idea of Rex attending dawn training, he was too young. But I kept my mouth closed, bigger things had occurred last night and I just needed things to settle for a bit. Rex seemed to enjoy being up early which for now was good enough for me.

The twins inform us that Beatrice and Donnie had invited them over for a sleepover tonight. Something about Elspeth keen to help Beatrice out with the night time changes…we shall see. I highly doubt it that Elspeth will even hear Harper at night time.

Elspeth starts telling us about the desert she and Beatrice plan to bake this afternoon, when I glance over at Reuben…he really was struggling.

“Are you okay? Why don’t you go lay down?” I offer to him through the mind -link. His eyelids looked heavy and he wasn’t talking as much as usual.

“I’m fine…”

“No you’re not, go rest. I’ll be up myself to sleep soon enough.”

I let Reuben rest until mid morning when I finally go up stairs.

My own eyes desperate for some rest.

Opening the bedroom door I don’t find Reuben asleep as I expected. I find him sitting at the end of the bed, his eyes staring into thin air.

Straddling his lap, it seems to wake him from his day dream as I create tingles from my touch.

I wrap my arms around him, pulling him tightly into my hold.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just tired.”

“Well the kids are staying at Donnie’s and Beatrice’s so get some sleep, I’ll leave you to it.”

“I’ll sleep much better with you next to me.” He falls backwards, his movement taking me by surprise. Giggles escaping from me.

“I thought you needed to sleep….”

“I will…after..” His eyebrows make a suggestive wiggling movement.

Completely cheesy but I still can’t help the way he makes me feel.

I place my lips to his, wanting to let myself get lost in the tingles that erupt all over my skin from his touch.

He rolls us so that I now lay beneath him, his hands already tracing up my inner thigh. As soon as he cups my lower core my eyes roll into the back of my head. The sexual pleasure overwhelming me completely.

I reach out for him, my hands pulling at his waistband as I feel his hardened length. His own eyes close as he swears from the euphoric sensation of me pleasing him.

As soon as his eyes reopen a hunger is laced in his eyes, something that wants to devour me completely.

And I let him.

Reuben POV

My body was crying out to sleep but my mind was racing and I don’t know why.

Evelyn was fast asleep, her arms wrapped around me as her nose was nestled in the nook of my neck. Every time she breathed her warm breath tickled on my skin.

The bed cover just covering her lower naked half. This was heaven, so why can’t I sleep?

My fingers trail up and down her lower back, my eyes taking in her beauty. Our earlier antics replaying in my mind, I was already feeling aroused again. But she needed to rest.

Knowing that I’ve finally kept her safe brings me some inner peace from how I behaved in the past to her.
